Cat Found Buried Alive in Concrete (up to its neck) - Arizona - Polidicks

I'm probably stupid for asking this, but seeing how the cat was buried with its chest upward it was allowed to breath freely, but if it hadn't wouldn't it had suffocated seeing how the chest raises up and down when you breath and the concrete would've made that impossible?

This is really sad, I don't understand why people do it. It reminds me of a time I found the remains of a cat which had been set on fire, pretty upsetting.
