This isn't some kind of Saw movie where you have to choose and feel guilty about yourself. This is about thinking common household pets are disposable. It's wrong, it's immoral, it's a backwards, caveman-style belief where people think that animals don't feel pain, and it's wrong.
Yes that is wrong, but since people have said that they'd rather hurt/see a person be hurt than a cat, what do you expect me to do, just allow that stupid shit to be allowed and not argued with?
Where are you looking for "proof" are you looking in your mind that is totally uneducated in this subject?
Google "do cats commit suicide"
Find an actual article or whatever in that that literally shows that cats can commit suicide...oh right, you can't, don't just post a blanket "citation" and expect it to work without giving me a specific citation.
you aren't searching for the correct terms.

Animals kill themselves. Get over it.

No, you have every right to refute those claims, but your methods of refutal and overall manners have not been civil at all. And I'm 99% sure that's why everyone arguing against you is all up in arms.

"Pea aphids, when threatened by a ladybug, can explode themselves, scattering and protecting their brethren and sometimes even killing the ladybug."
Wow so an animal that literally has no emotions can kill themselves, and you think this is proof that cats can feel emotions?
[editline]10th July 2012[/editline]
"There have been anecdotal reports of dogs, horses, and dolphins committing suicide, but with little conclusive evidence.[6] There has been little scientific study of animal suicide.[7]"

Good job proving yourself wrong faze, it was fun!
Its the thought that counts, just because someone won't act on extreme racism doesn't make it any less disgusting, that's how I feel about this. I know people won't go kill some person over a cat, or at least I hope so, because then at that point maybe they'd realize how fucking stupid that would be, and how wrong they would be...but it still is gross to see people actually stating that they think cats > human and that they'd rather see a grown man tortured than a cat.
You don't seem to understand basic human brain
If someone sees this article for example, and they like cats for what they are and nothing less and nothing more, you would usually get a surge of emotions that are either filled with sadness or pure rage. When it's in the heat of the moment, people tend to not *think*, and just say what is on their mind.
If you find it disgusting, too bad, that's how the human brain works in cases like this and people WILL do it.
If you feel sympathy for a creature that is dying, you will get this surge of emotions and all this would happen. I'm sure you already knew this, pretty obvious.
It does NOT mean they would value a cat's life over a humans just because they say it in that context at that exact moment like you seem to think, because they probably wouldn't value a cat's life over a human, and even if they did: Go fucking deal with it, that's how they are, and that's how they will stay.
I probably worded that awkwardly but I hope that gets my point across

That was a five second Google search about something you appear to know everything about. Read the links the other guy posted.
Seriously, do you just get enjoy arguing or something?
legitimate question Clementine:
did you pay attention in sophomore biology in high school

I think Protocol7 worded it best here
I'd also like to point out that using human suicide as a basis of stating that animals do not have emotions on the order that we do isn't correct. It's like comparing a sports car to a rusted out Civic. They both have engines but one's capable of different things, but at their base they both get you from point A to point B.

try FRESHMAN BIOLOGY SCRUB~
yes, no mention of cats killing themselves if that's what you're talking about

Cute.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Scrub? That's one old ass insult not warranted here.
Burden of proof is on you bud. I have two theories on you:
1. You're trolling.
2. You're a dumbass that knows not of what he speaks.

the wikipedia article literally says that house pets have no conclusive proof that cats (noted by the fact that it wasn't actually mentioned) ever commit suicide. Yes some animals commit suicide...the ultra smart ones, not house pets.

That was a shitty article that proves suicide in animals exists. Do your own research if you want to make some dumbass argument.

You know how Wikipedia is edited by people? Well sometimes it's wrong.
Go look at the other evidence posted by ExplodingGuy.
clementine it's literally so easy to question yourself and realize that the stance your arguing is questionable
slow down for a second and listen lol

First one is literally an anecdotal story of some cat with mysterious wounds, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Second one has nothing to do with suicide, more like licking themselves too much

its questionable arguing against people saying shit like "Torturing a pet is worse than torturing a human" - Protocol7
Wikipedia says that you are wrong, so...yeah.
All it says that there has been little research on the issue. Which the study that I posted sheds light upon.

do i really have to read 100's of pages that are likely not even about cats?
do i really have to read 100's of pages that are likely not even about cats?
Cats aren't the only animals.
its questionable arguing against people saying shit like "Torturing a pet is worse than torturing a human" - Protocol7
why don't you do an direct quote that's real instead of trying to make him look bad
do i really have to read 100's of pages that are likely not even about cats?
Cats are irrelevant to this discussion. You stated animals don't have the capabilities for self destructive behavior, and I posted a contradicting study.
[sup]Psst: this is the part where you're supposed to post a contradicting study.[/sup]
Cat dies: 200+ hearts and 7 pages
Human being dies: 30+ hearts and 2 pages
Okay

When did I say animals don't have that capability?
why don't you do an direct quote that's real instead of trying to make him look bad
The direct quote is broken grammar wise...but okay hold on
[editline]10th July 2012[/editline]
seriously clementine. there are so many factors that make torturing a pet worse than torturing a human, albeit in different ways. stop and think for awhile.
happy now?
[editline]10th July 2012[/editline]
Rather, it would be broken grammar-wise if I only took the vital parts, but either way there you go
Cat dies: 200+ hearts and 7 pages
Human being dies: 30+ hearts and 2 pages
Okay
Kitten factor. Cats are cute. It's fucked up but it happens.
