Except of course in extenuating circumstances [editline]16th February 2013[/editline] It's fine to be ready for trouble it's not fine to point a weapon at someone who has not threatened nor harmed you
you are probably the most monumentally entrenched and dim person in this entire thread. surely you realize that all these people disagreeing with you isn't some sort of plot or agreement and it's actual outnumbering of your opinion??? [editline]16th February 2013[/editline] honestly what kind of psychology is behind that? what mentality causes such entrenched, unchangeable views? is it similar to religious or philosophical faith?
Oh guess what, he wouldn't be pointing a gun if they had identified themselves in the first place.
So it's okay to prepare to kill random people that haven't done anything to you, got it.
you are probably the most monumentally entrenched and dim person in this entire thread. surely you realize that all these people disagreeing with you isn't some sort of plot or agreement and it's actual outnumbering of your opinion???
Oh so outnumbering someone else's opinion automatically makes it wrong? Well in that case we can get an actual plot going, let me go call all the FP dudes on my steam friends list and then I can call you dim when you refuse to accept that Hitler did nothing wrong
Well in that case we can get an actual plot going, let me go call all the FP dudes on my steam friends list and then I can call you dim when you refuse to accept that Hitler did nothing wrong
godwin's law {imagine a stock image of a man blowing a noisemaker here]
godwin's law {imagine a stock image of a man blowing a noisemaker here]
That was exactly the point, it was exaggerated hyperbole to the point where it's so bloody obvious how wrong you are that you cannot refuse to accept it Now does outnumbering someone else's opinion make it wrong? Hell no.
So it's okay to prepare to kill random people that haven't done anything to you, got it.
If they're hitting your door early in the morning without saying anything ? Yes, that sounds like an intruder, and it's better to be prepared.
no, but surely you realize that maybe your opinion MIGHT be wrong when you have so many people disagreeing with you??
no, but surely you realize that maybe your opinion MIGHT be wrong when you have so many people disagreeing with you??
So how dare I argue my point at all obviously I'm dim and entrenched hurrrrr
Anybody pointing a gun at you is dangerous, how is this hard to understand

Officials said the deputies did not identify themselves because of safety reasons.
That's BEFORE they knew the guy had a gun. What are you even talking about? They thought they were in a dangerous situation BEFORE he opened the door.
It's not murder if you shoot someone who's pointing a gun at you, that's reasonable force
If I create a situation where you feel threatened and you get your gun/other weapon ready, and then I kill you for holding that weapon, who's to blame?
If they're hitting your door early in the morning without saying anything ? Yes, that sounds like an intruder, and it's better to be prepared.
An intruder is going to knock on your front door, wait for you to answer it, and not force their way in when you open it?
So it's okay to prepare to kill random people that haven't done anything to you, got it.
You mean like this guy who didn't do anything and got shot? Can't tell if you're a massive hypocrite or just plain old stupid.
So how dare I argue my point at all obviously I'm dim and entrenched hurrrrr
literally every motherfucking thread i've ever seen you in you seem to deliberately take the conflicting opinion and defend it mindlessly like some sort of insane conscript
If I create a situation where you feel threatened and you get your gun/other weapon ready, and then I kill you for holding that weapon, who's to blame?
So if I prepare to kill you, then you shoot me first? There is such a thing as reasonable escalation of force. Pointing a gun at anyone knocking on your front door isn't reasonable.
So how dare I argue my point at all obviously I'm dim and entrenched hurrrrr
You can't be serious.
literally every motherfucking thread i've ever seen you in you seem to deliberately take the conflicting opinion and defend it mindlessly like some sort of insane conscript
Oh so we're back to ad hom
So if I prepare to kill you, then you shoot me first? There is such a thing as reasonable escalation of force. Pointing a gun at anyone knocking on your front door isn't reasonable.
Except he didn't know they were police. For all he knew, as soon as he opened the door they might have forced their way in.
You mean like this guy who didn't do anything and got shot? Can't tell if you're a massive hypocrite or just plain old stupid.
You mean pointing a weapon at someone isn't doing anything? So you're okay if I come hold a gun to your head, right? I'm not doing anything until I pull the trigger
Oh so we're back to ad hom
how is it ad-hominem when that's literally what you do. every time you enter an argument you seem to express what is usually the opposite opinion of every other poster's then defend it relentlessly
So how dare I argue my point at all obviously I'm dim and entrenched hurrrrr
your arguments are stupid most of the time.
Except he didn't know they were police. For all he knew, as soon as he opened the door they might have forced their way in.
Then why did he open the door? If it is such a dangerous thing that opening the front door is worth pointing a gun at people on the other side, WHY IN THE EVERLOVING HELL WOULD YOU OPEN THAT DOOR?
jesus fuck scout you're a terrible poster i can't believe you're fucking sticking up for them jesus christ
how is it ad-hominem when that's literally what you do. every time you enter an argument you seem to express what is usually the opposite opinion of every other poster's then defend it relentlessly
how is it ad-hominem when literally the only thing you do is talk about how I'm retarded? shit man, I dunno, maybe because that's the very definition of ad-hominem?
jesus fuck scout you're a terrible poster i can't believe you're fucking sticking up for them jesus christ
he doesn't believe in truth or logic. that is the issue.
You mean pointing a weapon at someone isn't doing anything? So you're okay if I come hold a gun to your head, right? I'm not doing anything until I pull the trigger
I honestly don't understand how having a gun when opening the door to someone knocking/pounding on the door at 1:30 in the morning, and pointing a gun at some random passerby during the day who hasn't done anything is the same thing.
jesus fuck scout you're a terrible poster i can't believe you're fucking sticking up for them jesus christ
Yeah I can't believe other people have opinions too, man, I hate them all for it
There is such a thing as reasonable escalation of force. Pointing a gun at anyone knocking on your front door isn't reasonable.
I don't think pointing a gun at someone's door at 1:30 AM while knocking, unannounced, only to immediately open fire at the slightest drop of the hat is reasonable. Why are we arguing about this anyway; the guys are going to get a slap on the wrist and the media will forget all about it.
I honestly don't understand how having a gun when opening the door to someone knocking/pounding on the door at 1:30 in the morning, and pointing a gun at some random passerby during the day who hasn't done anything is the same thing.
Having a gun is different from having a gun pointed and ready to use
Then why did he open the door? If it is such a dangerous thing that opening the front door is worth pointing a gun at people on the other side, WHY IN THE EVERLOVING HELL WOULD YOU OPEN THAT DOOR?
Me personally, I probably wouldn't have opened the door. At least until I knew who was out there. But that still doesn't justify the police's actions.
how is it ad-hominem when literally the only thing you do is talk about how I'm retarded? shit man, I dunno, maybe because that's the very definition of ad-hominem?
no. ad-hominem would me be saying "you argue shit points so you can't talk" what i am asking is why are you defending such shit points when it gets you nowhere and does absolutely nothing to benefit you and likely isn't even your actual opinion on the matter? Is it some sense of duty, some sense of pride or sick thrill? they will give you a medal, GI, but only when you are dead.
You mean pointing a weapon at someone isn't doing anything?
The police were pointing their weapons at him first. And considering they were probably wearing their uniforms, they shot him before he even had a chance to lower his gun.
I don't think pointing a gun at someone's door at 1:30 AM while knocking, unannounced, only to immediately open fire at the slightest drop of the hat is reasonable. On the other hand we have a statement from the deputies saying the man did, now do you call that unreasonable too? I would.
