Dumbass cops "knock"/pound on man's door without identifying themselves @ 1:30AM, man opens door wit
This incident is a great example of why if someone knocks on your door at 1:30, you should do anything other than open the door. If this guy had called the police or even threatened to call the police instead, he'd still be alive now.
This is what im saying. Why the fuck would you think 1. its a good idea to answer the door at 1 am, and 2. With a gun pointed out the door when you open it.
Seems like anyone siding with the police on this one are just resorting to victim blaming, personally I think its dumb that its still being used even on page 7. The man would have been alive if the Police identified themselves like they ought to, their excuse for not doing so was very weak.
So it's okay to prepare to kill random people that haven't done anything to you, got it.

This is exactly what you're trying to tell us, except without the sarcasm.
I'm surprised I'm the first one to point this out.
The only difference is that he was only preparing in case the need arose, whereas the police actually did it without any sort verification, on nothing but an assumption. I'm sure you know the old cliche regarding assuming.

Sorry to drag this on, but there's no clearer way to highlight the fallacy here.
I honestly stand with the cops on this one. They didnt want to identify as police because the suspect who was suspected for murder might fucking blast them through the door. I dont know what goes through your mind to pull out a gun first when opening the door if someone is knocking on it with a bang instead of them breaking the damn thing down. To people saying the man is innocent, he is, but it doesnt cover his act of stupidity of pulling a gun out to people knocking on the door in the morning. Also how would you not see the squad cars in your front yard to know its police? The police thought the suspect was the murderer and the man happened to open the door with a gun pointed at them. Police training would tell you to open fire, not reason with him. It was a fuck up on both the cop's and the guy's fault.
I don't see why, if the cops were afraid they'd be shot through the door, they'd send only two standard officers instead of a SWAT team. Plus (and I might be mistaken here), unless the cops had a no-knock warrant, they were required to identify themselves. No matter how you spin this, these officers committed a crime and ought to be treated as such.

Except pointing a loaded weapon at anyone is extremely dangerous. The cops are to blame, but the guy was acting incredibly fucking stupid. They reacted as well as they could have the moment he opened the door.
If you're a cop, and someone has a weapon on you, you have to make a split-second decision on what do to, because 99% of the time, the other person has already decided.
The cops are at fault, the victim exacerbated the situation.
[editline]oh hamburgers[/editline]
Had he not opened the door with a loaded weapon aiming at what could have been anybody, the situation would've been a minor nuisance that, at worst, would have gotten the officers reprimanded.

Yeah maybe when you're in the middle of breaking up a gang war, not when you're just knocking on citizen doors. I agree he could've handled it better, but you can't blame the guy for preparing to defend his life from an intruder. If I go pounding on your door at almost 2am without any sort of identification, are you going to open up with a smile and ask how you can help me? If the police had put in the effort to do so much as identify themselves, then I would consider their response fully justified.

But yes, I agree with you more than I disagree.

It doesn't matter where they are. For all they knew, the person opening the door was the head of an international crime ring. They had to react in that instant, because if they didn't, and he was intent on killing them, a moment's hesitation is all he'd need.
That reminds me of a incident that happened a few years back where the SWAT was doing a drug raid on a ex-seal and didn't call out that they were swat/cops once they breached and the guy thought they were robbers and got killed for carrying his semi-auto rifle. They killed him while his family was home too and wasn't actually linked to the drug ring they thought he was, which makes me sad.
