oh my god this would be amazing
new gamemode where everyone mindlessly beats the shit out of eachother with sticks. no abilities, no weapons.

the petition is most likely a response to blizzard pulling a sexualised pose from one of it's characters
http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/29/overwatch-tracer-victory-pose/
the character in question, is tracer. they pulled the tracer pose because the devs thought it was too sexual for tracer's character.
people screamed and complained about sjw taking over, but that isn't the case considering that there are other characters that are pretty sexualised (nothing wrong with it, as far as I know) that aren't being touched because it's their art style.

Ass physics, revealing spandex, ect. Tracer is meant to be a role model as seen in their cinematic trailer.
The problem with the logic of it "not fitting her character" is the fact that every character has that pose. You could apply the same reasoning to literally every character and it would equally make zero sense.

Someone in the TB thread about this with actual understanding of basic anatomy in drawings did a nice little comparison of Tracer compared to a standard back-facing pose.
Her spine is in a really fucking weird position to get her ass out that far compared to the model as you usually see it. Every character has a back-facing pose, but not every character has their ass jutting out at a stupendous angle for no real reason.
It looks pretty out of place on that character. Other than pretty tight leggings, there's not that much sexual going on with the Tracer design.
Careful what you wish for.
Careful what you wish for.
to be fair it would probably be a better - or at least more interesting - game if it didn't have any guns
it's too late now that they're the core of the game though
Ahahaha fucking hell this better be satirical or i've genuinely given up.

not really no
I'm gonna treat this as satire, But I actually hope Blizzard takes it seriously, just so they learn to think for themselves instead of people crying about their feelings.
God damn it, we've been over this. Blizzard wasn't caving to anyone. Jeff Kaplan, the creative director of Blizzard, literally came out and went "Our team was already iffy about this, so when actual players came out against it we decided to remove it. We're replacing it with a pose that we think is better."

You DO know that's painfully easy to say as PR speak? hence why so many people are questioning it.

You would only see a problem with this logic if you simplify the pose itself. Actually look at the pose.
here's an album some guy linked me in a steam chat

All the men have their asses covered so it's not a big deal. They're not wearing spandex or anything of the sort to show off their body.
The two women are in spandex, and they're showing off their ass. It's acceptable for the Widowmaker to do it because that's part of her character. It isn't acceptable for Tracer to do it because it isn't her character. This isn't an issue about sexualization of characters, it's an issue about the consistency of characters.
If I made Edgelord Reaper have the animations of a catwalker, that would go against his character and people would probably complain.

Prove to me that they're lying and I will take back everything I said about this disaster. To me, you're labeling them as liars to further your own agenda.
To be honest the pose was shit.

As long as the asses are covered it's acceptable to go against character. You heard it, roflburger said so.

You're just assuming Blizzard is lying.
As long as the asses are covered it's acceptable to go against character. You heard it, roflburger said so.
What? Do any of the men's poses say "Look at my ass?"
You're just assuming Blizzard is lying.
Personally, I don't know what to think.
But realistically, and pragmatically, it's incredibly easy to spin doctor anything these days.
I mean, I came out pretty harshly against the original blue post in the Totalbiscuit thread because it seemed like a joke. A couple people had a problem with a pose and the Creative Director swoops in with a concise "Yeah we are removing it" post, when Blizzard as a company has historically been utterly intractable even when a majority of their playerbase opposes certain gameplay. Getting developers of WoW or Diablo to change their mind about something that almost no one actually enjoys is like negotiating with a pitbull.
But if the second post's narrative is true, that they were always planning on removing it and it took a big thread that got really popular, really quickly to push them over the edge in announcing it then I don't see it as much of a problem. It's Blizzards vision.
not really no
To be fair, in my opinion, when I see a game is essentially melding FPS and MOBA - two of the most aggressively played out genres in recent memory - I've got to think than anything could be better and more interesting than that
It's even got an El Generico MOBA like name
Personally, I don't know what to think.

I tend to think it's a good policy to assume someone is telling the truth until I've been given sufficient reason to doubt them. I have no reason to doubt it was ever part of the plan to drop the pose, so I'll assume it's Blizzards internal creative vision at work.
[editline]31st March 2016[/editline]
And if you want to speak of pragmatisim it's much more pragmatic to act with the knowledge that someone you know hasn't lied to you isn't lying to you now than to concoct what is essentially a conspiracy theory that they were pressured by third party influences and want to cover it up.
I'm quite sure that people are signing it just to be silly, seeing as I am fighting that temptation right now.

Yeah, the females aren't really standing in normal upright poses.

They can't do anything as simple as standing without trying to make it sexy. Yay for more cop-out lazy default-to-sex design.
I can't really critique it though without someone thinking I hate artists and that I don't want them to have their artistic freedom though.

You can critique art without hating artists. Both sides support artistic freedom.
One could argue that many of the developers thought it wasn't their best work, they shouldn't be forced to keep something they don't want in their game, which is artistic freedom. Another could argue that ignoring people when it comes to changing their work is artistic freedom.

Well now the artists at Blizzard are stuck in an impossible situation where their freedom is under attack by both sides: Morally outraged regressives who see sexy video game characters and become offended, and morally outraged video gamers (I don't know what else to call them) that just assume Blizzard is lying and want to compromise their artistic vision in an attempt to stick it to the SJWs.
So tired of seeing this chick's gross butt pose. I've never been more aware that an ass is just a continuation of legs than I have seeing this picture 500 times this week.
they sure as hell better remove all the gun models for april fools now
Just remove the guns, keep the character's hands in the same animations, replace all of the fire sounds with someone saying "Bang!"
Just remove the guns, keep the character's hands in the same animations, replace all of the fire sounds with someone saying "Bang!"
I still think that was the greatest shit ever in TF2 when I discovered you could kill someone with a heavy taunt just like that. Only replace bang with pow.
I say they should do it, lord knows this issue is hundreds of times larger than that problematic sex pose Tracer had. :v:
This actually is a joke. My partner made this joke on the forum and his friend made the petition from that. 4chan and some other places apparently started giving it traction. I'm still laughing my butt off that it's still going.
