This is awesome, too bad they passed more or less the same thing is Colorado.
I haven't really been following Colorado very closely but I did see New York's bill is receiving very heavy resistance and may be overturned. I can only assume it'll happen there too, if it hasn't already. This is exactly why it should be left to the states to decide: When it becomes clear that the people do not want it, it can be challenged far more easily than a federal law.
I'm Dianne Fienstien and I support bills that have no chance of passing just to strengthen my support from the far-left base!
Nonetheless what type of weapon he used is largely irrelevant. The Virginia tech shooter used pistols to kill 33 people and nobody gave the slightest peep about banning handguns. The only reason people give the slightest shit is because they were sitting and waiting for an excuse to ban the weapons that are obviously and absolutely used in a spectacularly small percentage of firearm homicides.
OK cool but I keep seeing people on Facepunch perpetrate this myth that he only used pistols when he clearly did not. I've never seen this claim anywhere else but this website. It's just an odd rumor that needs to go away.

I'm a left(according to a political quiz thing), and so is much of FP, and they don't support the ban.

Well, when more credible sources like The Economist and The Guardian kept stating that he used an assault rifle but even I believed in the Facepunch Report so I didn't say anything. I guess the gun lobby is so effective of spilling bullshit that terrified gun users love to lap up in support of their case. There was an entire article on The Economist about all the myths gun supporting protesters used to justify themselves at a rally. Like bogus statistics and cases like how crime and homicide in Britain and Australia actually increased after the ban when they steadily declined directly afterwards. I guess the gun lobby is pretty much just another populist demagogue machine, much like the anti-immigration one in Britain.
