The point of them occupying places is not to have a direct effect, it is to make people constantly aware of their point and making sure people do not forget it. Protesters have done it for decades (centuries?) and it has been very successful.
That still won't change a thing. If the companies want to do what they're doing, a few thousand protesters constantly hitting the headlines aren't going to change that.
You understand that what you're saying sounds more like a caricature or a cliche than anything that exists in real life, right? You seem to be making wild claims about specifically the New Zealand protesters while at the same time generalizing the entire movement because of it, all the while citing some conspiracy by the 'hippies' to keep fecal matter hidden from photos and trick you into believing that they care about the environment. Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?
i live in new zealand and the people he is talking about do not exist.
"Fair and Balanced" Well at least it is balanced

Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?
Why would I make this up? I am honestly describing what is happening from the perspective of someone who is forcibly immersed in their culture, habits and behaviours. I had no choice but to reach the conclusions I have made, any lingering desire to believe these people 'aren't as bad as I'm making out' have been quashed my actual years of having them in my everyday life. I am only talking about the people in New Zealand and whom I suspect are at the other protest for the parallels I have seen between the people in my country and the people in other countries. I have met, had people squatting in my flat, from all round the globe who act just the same, in some cases more intense. So it sounds ridiculous? It's abso-fucking-lutely ridiculous, but I can't escape it. These people are on another mental plane, like some kind of mass hysteria, you cannot fight it with reason. Again, my every day is dealing with these people in the nicest possible way. Them and I are all manners and courteously, but I'm being fucked over behind the scenes all the fucking time. They function like and honest to goodness cult. For what it's worth I must impress upon you, however difficult you find it to beleive, I make no exaggeration in my claims. Everything I have said comes from first hand experience. Perhaps I have had an unusually bad experience? I'd like to think so, but I have been exposed to a wide variety of different people of the same ilk. Swedes, Americans, Canadians, Germans, Ukrainians and more. They all behaved together in the ways I described, and/or tolerated such behaviours. Every single time I gave them the benefit of the doubt over the years I have known them, they have come right back and slapped me in the face. I like to think I'm a tolerant person, and it took a very long time, but I'm past my limits for wanting to think well of them. I only care about how they regard me, if they're worth my time or they're gonna cause me grief. I have all kinds of friends of all sorts of shape, form and taste. Some had kids when they were 16, some are drug dealers, some are Christian leaders, some are PH.D. students some are clean cut and others are shabby as all hell. Don't make me out to be some kind of fucking prude just because I'm (admittedly) disgruntled. I'm not trying to be unreasonable or hateful. I've unfortunately been overexposed to the bad parts of the protests, I guess. Considering how hard people seem to be finding what I say credible, or agreeable, maybe I'm just unlucky. I'm not however, going to second-guess myself at this stage, too much and for too long have I personally been a victim of this crap. I'm not taking it any more, I've wasted too much energy IRL, and now here. I don't care what happens anymore. I sincerely hope it works out for you and whoever is bothered to care. Good luck. I just give up.
