US taps into fuckton of oil, expects to increase production by 20-40%
the US consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. Do you know what that means? they will always have to relay on other nations to give them oil. If saudia arabia stopped importing oil to the US, the US's economy would collapse.
*exporting
...And oil prices continue to go up.
he already said he was in favor of relying less on foreign oil.
But i forgot that you only listen to his words through a fox filter.
qft
A bit ironic, considering Colorado is leading the rest of America in alternative energy resources. I sincerely hope the oil companies fuck off and die, really.
Lets hope they don't fuck up again and spill it all.
Watch, Obama will some how try to block this.
Glabers gotta give FP our daily dose of Fox news.
Why is no one doing anything with thorium?
I remember reading the USGS discovery article on these oil fields YEARS ago. only now they're going to tap into it. They could also dump the 50cent tax they have on my gas too to help out on the prices and what not.
Glaber, you violate your right to claim intelligence when you post like you do.
My brother said some rancher in North Dakota sold his ranch to an Oil company for something like 200 billion dollars. Yes, Billion.
Does your brother have difficulties with math, and how the hell did you even consider that figure to be remotely possible? EVEN REMOTELY?!
Why is no one doing anything with thorium?
China is. They're the first country to build a thorium reactor in about 40 years.
Guess we don't have to bother with alternative fuels anymore,
The oil is clearly going to last forever.
Actually I don't think the US has ever made a thorium reactor. But it has been 40 years since the last uranium reactor.

Uh no, come on just use your BRAIN, that's a good % of their overall money ever, they wouldn't spent it on just some ranch

Overoptimistic ⇧
Also i love the name of this thread.

Read your title as "This is your brain on stupid" it might as well should be too, why the hell would Obama not support this???

Your brother's a bullshitter.
This article is talking about hydraulic fracturing which is actually very bad for the environment.
You can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing#Environmental_and_health_effects
or watch a documentary http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1558250/

Hey, was your brother the guy with coke all over his nose and flying in a spaceship?
Also, any large purchases like that will be made public. Someone search for "Ranch in North Dakota sold for $200BILLION DOLLARS"
(Because you know, they REALLY do make all that in income every year, its like a penny out of their pocket.. man...)
Peek oil delayed for a few years, impact on environment increases.
Why don't we develop new sources of energy rather than waging wars over a extremely old one?

DID YOU KNOW:
Only 19.5Gallons of a barrel of oil (49gallons) is used for gasoline? So if we found a different fuel source to replace it, we still got ALLL that other shit to worry about. Right now, Petroleum is used in approximately 6000 items that we use everyday. You cannot go 1 day without seeing something that is using oil. Even if there was no cars on the road.
Haha, as if!
High speed rails for 80% of Americans -> Less cars
Electric Cars -> No gas for them either
More stringent regulations on miles per gallon -> Less gas used
More people buying hybrids -> Less gas used
So yes, it will more than likely decline.
Hopefully.

Because with enough energy we can do anything.
Cheap, virtually unlimited energy is the door to a whole new world of progress.

I would like to decline you're matter on EVs and Hybrids. Battery technology is severely limited and far more expensive than oil. It is not an economical feasible investment. And I don't give a fuck about them saying those batteries will last 10 years. Lithium ION is not more dangerous to the environment than gasoline, its far more expensive, and well, if we continue to consume lithium like that, we'll run out of batteries in less than 50 years.

What, are we at the sun about to tap into that?

What, are we at the sun about to tap into that?
What?
Also, I hope you're really tired, because calling Lithium Ion battery tech 'Ion Lithium' make you sound like you have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh it'll decline alright, but because of extremely high gas prices, not because gas isn't needed as much. When hybrids are outselling SUVs and trucks then we'll talk conservation as a viable solution. Soccer moms can't haul their kids around with today's hybrids though.

Naw. Working for 14 hours and posting on this website does not make me tired. I just like Ion Lithium more than Lithium Ion. Sounds more sci-fi like. Pretty cool, im a nerde.
But you got the point, so what was the point of pointing that out? To make yourself look like a shitposter like I?

Peak oil already occurred 40 years ago in the US. You're a bit late.

Other than that, I agree with you. :v:
By 2020, oil imports could be slashed by as much as 60 percent
:haw:
From what I know, My grandmother owns a large portion of land in north Dakota with a ton of oil in it, But its split between her, my two great aunts and an uncle. I think they said they were looking to split the oil rights but they can't so they are trying to get a drilling/ oil company to help drill and sell it and split the profits.
