yay guys we found more fuel to speed up this one way train to hell. lets celebrate the fact that we can now annihilate our ecosystem faster. happy.
My brother said some rancher in North Dakota sold his ranch to an Oil company for something like 200 billion dollars. Yes, Billion.
lol no he didn't
Oh so basically this is hydrofracking. This is going to kill a bunch of people when the oil/chemicals pollute their water table.
the newly unlocked fields are expected to produce 1 million to 2 million barrels of oil per day, enough to boost U.S. production 20 percent to 40 percent. The U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates production will grow a more modest 500,000 barrels per day. By 2020, oil imports could be slashed by as much as 60 percent
There goes my countries economy
Haven't you guys heard of that? I saw it on daily planet, and it is some kind of cube thing that if it was the size of a gamecube, it could power your entire home for a loooong time. It was some Indian scientist that was doing it for NASA or something like that IIRC. [editline]11th February 2011[/editline] http://www.technews.biz/scrapped-nasa-project-turns-into-bloom-box-fuel-cell-powerplant-3587/
Fuel cells aren't anything new, and
The modified design feeds oxygen into one side of a cell while fuel (natural gas...
This type of design isn't exactly saving the planet. There are quite a few companies developing fuel cells for commercial and residential application.
:fsmug: Who needs Saudi Arabia for Oil?
America, when it quickly uses it up again.
It's basic capitalism; when they pump a whole shitload of oil when the prices are already low, the prices become REALLY low, so they don't do that. Being that oil prices are getting higher and higher and the supply seems to be getting low, American companies are pumping out the oil.
My brother said some rancher in North Dakota sold his ranch to an Oil company for something like 200 billion dollars. Yes, Billion.
You idiot the richest people in the world don't even have a 100..
Why can't people realise that we're eating away at what should be our emergency reserves of energy. We should be able to live off the energy from the sun, and nothing more during good times and only resort to fossil fuels if a disaster happens like a huge volcanic eruption (yellowstone) or a meteor strike that blocks energy coming from the sun. I'm not an eco wishy washy person, I know things change like the climate and animals die out, but what happens when we can't get any light once our fossil fuels run out? We'll all die.
Oil will fuck us all in the ass sooner or later if we don't find something to replace it with. We cannot rely on oil forever.
And then the rich got richer.
My brother said some rancher in North Dakota sold his ranch to an Oil company for something like 200 billion dollars. Yes, Billion.
Yes thank you we needed that reiteration even though you italicised the first instance of the word 'billion' Also, I'm watching that American Dad and it's that episode where they're in Arabia, how topical.
My brother said some rancher in North Dakota sold his ranch to an Oil company for something like 200 billion dollars. Yes, Billion.
Out of the amount of absolutely brilliant posts you've made, I guess you are allowed one really dumb one.
Well its nice to see we have a little more oil this means it will take longer to go to a new fuel source.
The big problem is that we've adapted so much to oil that our business is set up in a way where we would need take it apart and put it back together to some degree. That's a very risky move for business and could cause some to collapse in the near future. The other problem is that we Americans in general can be very selfish right now and are somewhat afraid of changing even the smallest part of our way of life. It's almost like replacing moldy framework that everyone knows will collapse someday, but ignore it because they don't want to deal with it, partly because of the risk of the building collapsing while they're replacing it.
We should use the independence this gives us from the middle east to stop the wars and invest in a feasible clean renewable energy resource. However, knowing my country, we'll probably just blow it all on consumption and wish we took responsibility earlier.
Well, this will hopefully help prices at the pump for who knows long (maybe one season~3 months, maybe 2 or more years), but oil is still going to run out eventually and I would really like to see something else being used that will cost less. It can still harm the environment, cause I know how much us Americans love to (almost as much as China), but it should be cheap so we can get over it. I mean fuck, why do we even have a problem with cheaply fueling our vehicles. It should be like food. But even food has its costs. The world is strange :downs:
the US consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. Do you know what that means? they will always have to relay on other nations to give them oil. If saudia arabia stopped importing oil to the US, the US's economy would collapse.
No we'd ration oil and fuck over saudi arabia into submission. Iraq was because sadam has the idea to fuck over a large oil supplying nation because he felt like it then threaten the world with wmds, he was a like a dumb North Korea. Because whilst the US was in Iraq, NK was developing, and then successfully tested nuclear devices, whilst being one of larger supporters of terrorism, along with Pakistan.

I was saying that to be funny, and even included a downs emote at the end to hint at that. but still, you proceded to take it seriously, which was incorrect on your part. Why am I bitching at someone whos name is after my favorite childhood book series.....ughh fuck this I'm going to bed.
now we can end the war and refuel our tanks (and no i dont mean m1 abrams)
oh please let gas prices go down. I can't afford 3.57 a gallon. :smith: [editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
No we'd ration oil and fuck over saudi arabia into submission. prices better fucking drop. This above $3 a gallon is fucking ridiculous
I'm at $2.99 a gallon :smug:

I got my first car the month we invaded Iraq. $20 of mid grade filled my car up from fumes and got me change back. Here we are, 7 years later, and $20 of the cheap stuff only gets me half a tank.

In 20 to 30 years, having a pro-US Iraq will be a great thing. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline] I really hate the 'war can't be for oil because it doesn't work' argument. It's a logical as 'the war can't be for WMDs because we didn't find any biological or nuclear weapons', or 'the war can't be for freedom, democracy and peace because they don't have that either'.
From the article:
Unemployment in North Dakota has fallen to the lowest level in the nation, 3.8 percent — less than half the national rate of 9 percent. The influx of mostly male workers to the region has left local men lamenting a lack of women. Convenience stores are struggling to keep shelves stocked with food.
:raise:
