UK and Scottish governments reach provisional agreement on independence referendum

Will all the commonwealth countries have to change their flags?
We aren't going to change our flag. We didn't change it when Ireland left.
As a Scot, I'm very interested to see where this will go. Personally, I'm against the idea of independence after putting in the research and not just saying "Yes, because I'm Scottish."
But I know my dad is gunning for it for a variety of his own reasons.

That's because we still have Northern Ireland.

would look a bit stupid if only a third of the flag represented 1/2 of the countries.

official flag leak from david cameron's own photoshop folder
If we change our flag (arbitrary and pointless) and thus have to replace every flag at every embassy, outside every public building in the world etc, but don't adopt the metric system (actually useful) because changing the road signs is too expensive, then we're fucking stupid.
When Ireland left it was calculated that changing the flag would cost £2 million, or approximately 'a fucking shitload' in today's money. I guess we can do it if we want, but there should be no argument left against full metrication if that happens.
They should totally go independent, can an Englishman living in Scotland vote for this? I think it will be so cute watching them trying to run their own country :3
And I realise it's insignificant, but It's often comments like this that often cause England to have a bad rep up North with the current generation of Young Scots.
If Scotland would go independent, I doubt Westminster would actually bother to drop the saltire. Probably the same if Northern Ireland would go too. The current UK flag have been the country's flag for quite a while and it is pretty much imprinted into the memories of everybody.

HAHA MOTHERFUCKERS CANADA SOLVED THIS PROBLEM 50 YEARS AGO
but yeah Australia/NZ are boned
Scotland would be so fucked if they became independant.
They have little to no enconomy outside of:
Drying up oil in the North sea
Alchohol
Tourism
Wool
Also their GDP would be so low in comparison to their population that they wouldn't be able to retain free healthcare, free university, good infrastructure (Roads and Rails) especially to remote parts in the highlands. Basically all their public service would be fucked.

Found this on the telegraph on the issue of flags.
Don't let us off the leash, England, we'll all go mad on heroin and shortbread without your stabilising presence.

Everyone knows shortbread is where the real money is.
Welsh green? Ireland is green, I usually think of Wales as red
As in the green on the Welsh flag, though on second thoughts it looks pretty terrible.
Oh come on Scotland, don't be a spoil sport, stay with the good old union, you love us English really.

And whiskey (which is admittedly pretty damn nice)
If they do vote for independence there will be an upside 'cause then we'll have room for the welsh flag and that looks totally badass
If I recall correctly from my English lessons, which might be wrong because I'm Belgian, it boils down to "the flag would look too crowded with the Welsh flag slapped on top of it too, so fuck that idea"
Because Wales and Ireland were conquered whereas Scotland have always remained independent and entered the union peacefully

Yeah, aside from the financial and technology sectors as well.

I think most Scottish folk quite like the English. I myself tend to go for the whole "The English are alright except during sport tournaments of any kind" model.
