oh shit i thought we were talking about a grocery store my bad
Teacher is an asshole. An intelligent Obama supporter would realize that doing something like that only gives the other side an excuse to play victim.

why would you need freedom of speech in a school
why would you need freedom of speech in a school
At no point while you were typing that did it seem like a stupid thing to say?
the whole point of it is to be able to speak out against the government and you dont need to do that at school and even if you did and it was against the rules its not like you could be arrested
Good. Politics have no place in the classroom* and I'm on board with not allowing staff or students to wear political shirts, buttons, or any such nonsense. They had best extend it to Obama shirts out of fairness, though.
*One exception: Political classrooms. For obvious reasons.

Samantha says her teacher went on to tell her that she couldn’t wear ‘a Republican shirt in a Democratic school.’
The teacher wasn't trying to take politics out of the classroom - quite the opposite.

why are you asking me?

This is bad, Romney's definitely going to use it as an "argument" against Obama.

I highly doubt that they rated something that opposes their viewpoint to be ~ironic~

I do it all the time. Ratings dont mean shit.
I highly doubt that they rated something that opposes their viewpoint to be ~ironic~
wow wat a tragedy
Well that's completely pointless
Well that's completely pointless
point is who cares dude
I'd sue the school for sweet, sweet, teacher-tear-laced cashola. I wouldn't strip for no creepy schoolteacher, especially a politically-charged one.
I live in one of the most liberal places in all of America and I couldn't think of this ever happening.
(btw my a.p. gov. teacher is a radical. far left as possible.)
Teacher must be a Redditor.
I wore a Democrat shirt and I live in Utah. One of the most Republican towns in Utah.
I sure wouldn't want to be kicked out for wearing it, and I wouldn't want somebody to be kicked out for wearing an opposing party's tee.
That being said, Democrat tees are way better looking.
Good thing i dont even care about politics.
And that's why you're part of the problem.

What's really fucked up here is that this is a teacher. Teachers should show students how accept other people's beliefs and to rationally form their own. The thought that there are educators out there forcing their ideas on students is frightening.
If you honestly want someone to believe what you do, then get them more informed about the subject. If your views really have merit then you should have confidence that people will form an educated opinion similar to yours. Don't just try and force them into thinking that your side is right. If anything, that girl is more conservative now.

this part made me laugh
Forcing your agendas on everyone else is not cool. Respect others' opinions, no matter how fucked up they may be.
you can support romney but i'll still call you an idiot.
[editline]4th October 2012[/editline]
you don't have to respect other people's opinions, it's "your constitutional right".
freedom of speech is a double edged sword. you can spout shit but don't be bitching about freedom of speech when people call you an idiot.
i would instantly judge anyone with a romney tshirt as an idiot just because of how retarded it would be for him to be in office. you'd either have to be an otherwise insanely awesome person or just wearing the t shirt ironically and not be a total douche.

You do lose a certain amount of rights when you become a student but speech is not one of them.

It's shocking how uneducated people can be when it comes to politics.
There was a guy on Facebook who complained that Mitt Romney was going to take away our guns.
