You guys know that people aren't boycotting it because of how soon it's coming out, but rather how they lied about the free content that was going to be released.
See the youtube video Lies 4 $$$$ to see what I'm talking about.
When did Valve lie about free content coming for L4D?
Oh I'm sorry I forgot that the boycotters automatically assumed that L4D had been forgotten about just because they announced a sequel.
As for that video, it's bullshit, guy who made it should be hung/slapped/generally humiliated etc.
Just because Valve is working on another project does not ever mean they've forgotten about the community who still plays one of their games. I only need to point at TF2 to get my idea across.
that lightning looks like shit
that's literally lightning, not lighting
"still in development"
Besides, you'd see it for a split second. Chill.
Looks nice, I like the lightening
If L4D2 got a real storyline, it would be really cool. Like you get on car, car runs out of gas, get on train, train railroad ends, get on plane, plane ran out of fuel and crash landed.
Lets see...

Conclusion
Hey guys they should charge less for something that has more, that makes total sense!
You sir win in every possible way.
20 new weapons is 10 new weapons and 10 reskins.
Actually, Valve mentioned there will be 10 melee weapons in one of their videos

I believe they stated the campaigns tie into each other in some way this time.
Let's hope so.
This is beginning to sound like Left 4 Dead "Stuffs".
I don't think it'll be like that, most likely VALVe learned from their mistake from L4D.
Also, the model detail on the survivors is delicious.
Oh guys can you belive it?? Valve are re-useing textures and models again!
look

[sp]It's the Citadel[/sp]
they're not gonna give 20 new items.
Looks like it's going to be awesome.
..and I thought making Left 4 Dead 2 a seperate game from Left 4 Dead was a good idea because Valve put a lot more stuff in there and the poor saps who bought the first one for the 360 can get their "expansion pack" now.
But I'm still going to find a way to replace some of these new characters if they stay at least close to the way they are in the current development stage.
Except for the black guy, he's cool.
Yeah it looks too bright and cartoony huh

That's the plan.
Actually, Valve mentioned there will be 10 melee weapons in one of their videos
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was hoping for a at least a few new guns. As in not reskins with slightly different mag sizes.
Do you have a link to where they said that?
Why do Valve retort to present low graphics/x360 screenshots?
Simple, lol source engine
don't be so silly, 20 items as in 20 new brands of pills.
So tell us about the new items.
Well remember the pain pills? We have two now. A short half life version (Tylenol) and one with a long half life (Advil!).
looks like a SCAR in the screenshots
Actually, I think it's a Galil. Anyways, I can't wait for this! I'll most likely play the demo before I buy it, though.
It's a scar, why would there be so many galil's in America?

Conclusion
Hey guys they should charge less for something that has more, that makes total sense!
Someone can swim in the sea of idiots. I applaud you my friend. L4D2 is fully worth the full price. If you people disagree with me...maybe instead of arguing your point (in which case you will NEVER change my mind.) How about you stop whining about it and NOT buy it. NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO. Valve promised new content for both L4D and L4D2. They never agreed on a time in which you WOULD get that new content but still you would get it. The matchmaking updates and the new updates they have planned are proof of this. You have no valid point to keep whining about so to be honest I'm sure most of us GAMERS would prefer it if you stalkers from 4chan either A: Get the fuck out and leave us the fuck alone. or B: Shut the hell up and stop complaining like a baby. L4D2 is here to stay, SO GET OVER IT!!!!!
wow the screens look terrible

point?
you don't fucking advertise a product until it's presentable
it'd be understandable if they weren't making a big deal of it and saying; "Look! Screens!" and it was just an informal display + demo
yes I'm also aware it's the article, so it's their responsibility, but still
unless the product has been canceled and there is little to no content available I don't see why anyone would be interested in alpha shots. They're ugly as fuck and don't give the game justice. (Or even worse, they do)
[editline]01:19AM[/editline]
Actually I'm going to go a step further and say I'm fucking tired of that argument. People hide behind it like it's some impenetrable wall that prevents any sort of criticism for a product.
I don't care what goddamn stage it's at, if they're releasing screenshots that means they're advertising their product. It's not my problem to sift through which ones are alpha shots and which ones are finished products. When you're trying to sell something you want it looking it's best before you start releasing media about it and showing it off. In fact, it's extremely childish to use that argument and it's extremely unprofessional.
You don't write a term paper and hand it into your professor so he can examine it if it looks like shit. You can say "It's a work in progress" but in the end you're still showing him shit, and you're wasting his time. And that's what's going on here. The screens look, simply put, terrible. Like a last generation game. Fullbright. Fog in the background which is in place to lower draw distance. Low resolution textures and lackluster geometry.
What's worse is everything's got that "soft" look that console games are notorious for.
This picture is a pretty good example.
I love Valve and hopefully L4D2 will be good, but these screenshots should not have been released, and that demo had better be better looking than this. As much as you can say "gameplay before graphics" there is a certain level of laziness associated with releasing product that looks shitty. I know Valve can do better, and it disappoints me that they're not.

Well then you clearly don't know Valve. These screenshots are not to advertise shit. Remember the jeep that was supposed to be in EP2? Remember Alyx falling off of a ledge in the trailers? Even the trailers were wrong.
If there's one thing about Valve, is that, no matter what pretty much, the final product will be very different from the early screenshots.
Hell, even L4D 1 suffered massive changes between early screens and final release. The characters were dressed and looked entirely differently. Your whole "I DONT CARE WHAT STATE IT'S IN NOW" bullshit argument might apply for companies that rely on public response to first screenies, but not Valve, a company that likes polishing further and further, regardless of fan reaction.

Don't kid yourself. Screenshots are released to stir interest about a game and to give some bit of insight into how it will play / look. That's exactly what Valve is doing. You glorify them as if they're your best friends. Valve is a good company, but when it comes down to it, that's what they are. A company. You are a customer. That's it.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Gaming companies don't ever change development based upon feedback on screenshots. And I'm not disputing the fact that valve polishes their work. That's one of the good things. My argument is far from bullshit, it's taking a market approach to it. It's really fucking simple. YOU RELEASE THINGS THAT LOOK GOOD TO GET GOOD RESPONSE AND GOOD PR.
YOU DON'T RELEASE SHIT.
It doesn't matter what comes in the future. There are plenty of consumers that will look at these screenshots, say "Wow that game looks shitty" and never look at it again. Because while many gamers like us may be more intelligent and know that the finished product will look good, the overwhelming majority of the market (console gamers) are casual and will look at this in a completely shallow manner.
It's a business. You follow through with good business tactics, or you fail in the market. It's quite simple.
And if these are the "hype" screens that valve loves to do, that's just killing your argument further. It's advertising. As much as you'd love to argue otherwise, the point of a company is to make money. If you didn't buy Valve's products, they would stop making them. And in order to make people buy their products, they release press information and media to show off their work.
Anyone who disagrees with BricknHead is wrong. No two ways about it.

numerous times I said that the finished product would look good

You seem to lack any ability to judge based on historical evidence. Since when did early screenshots have shit to do with the final product? Since when did Half Life 2's beta look better than the final? Since when did L4D's beta look better than the final? Do you see where I'm going with this? If you weren't so fucking dense, you'd realise that marketing has shit all to do with the state of the game in these pictures. If they were trying to advertise it, I'm sure they would pick better pictures. At least anything would be better than green 3D-looking lightening. It may not occur to you that Valve may not be like all other companies, that they release these screenshots to keep us up to date, not only necessarily to get us to buy the game.
Go ahead, give me another wall of shit to yawn to as you try to be the Gregory House of marketing.
