I find this wholly uninteresting until I hear an official statement made by valve. Hell, it's uninteresting until I know what happen's to ep3.
They're kind of dropping their trademark here.

What trademark? Valve has been pumping Non SP games for a while. And there were no whiners.

Valve's trademark is great games. Not single-player games.
In multiplayer they have the L4D, TF, CS and DotA-franchises.
In singleplayer they have HL..
Portal is somewhere in between.
Griggs and Sheckley.
I would so be 100% cool with that.
I want to play as a rebel and wrestle Hunters to the ground with my bare hands and fire AR3s.
The hat craze better FUCK RIGHT OFF before episode 3 comes out.
As long as there is a separate single player campaign, i'm fine with this.
Multiplayer just cant capture the athmosphere as well as single player. Especially if your buddy is jumping on tables / tapping crouchbutton 'cause of boredom
Does this mean that they won't charge money for multiplayer anymore?

You do realize those are over 6 years old, right?
dammit valve, work on your sentence composition
if you're going to make games single-player and co-op like portal 2 then say that, not 'oh yeah we're done with single-player games', that's just a damn misleading title

Portal 2 will probably be Valve’s last game with an isolated single-player experience
Yeah, they didn't name the title, idiot. Just look at the damn ROCKPAPERSHOTGUN logo on the page.
I don't really see the issue here? All they're doing Is adding extra features to their games like co-op. They always had multiplayer for their games, half life death match that came free with HL? As long as they don't make poor short ass quality singleplayer l'am fine, anyway I think multiplayer should always come second in a game unless it's a game like BF. It seems like many game studios have lost that...
Portal 2 will probably be Valve’s last game with an isolated single-player experience
This scares me. If we ever get Episode 3, I want to be able to play through it as a single player experience just like Half-Life 1, 2, Ep 1 and Ep 2, not to mention Blue Shift and Opposing Force.
I just find it's a much more immersive way to experience the story.
Hopefully it just means they'll tack on a co-op option on the side instead of making it mandatory.
I don't exactly understand how Portal 2 is an "isolated single-player experience" if it has co-op...hmmm
I hope you play as rebles in Ep3 co-op
Would be sweet.
wow my mind is now full of so many ideas and what not.
Guys. "Isolated" means stuck in one area the entire game.
Maybe ep3 will be a free roam game
:allears:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
No.
Although, Borealis is probably quite huge.
But a Metroid style would just not fit, Half-Life 2 is more story driven anyways, so I can't see how it would work as well.
But hey, it's Valve, they'll probably make DotA 2 awesome!
Anyway a Co-op with Chell and Gordon could be possible?

It has an exclusive single-player campaign
It just means there will be no more games where the player is in a secluded area.
