• Apple finally unveils completely redesigned iOS 7 - RIP skeuomorphism

More than 2 colors? 0/10 not flat enough.
I like the new icons except for the ones that have the pure white background. Photos, game center, newsstand and safari look like shit.
I'm going through iOS7 design mockups and they're leagues ahead of this pastel-colored clusterfuck. A sleek black-white-blue look should've been the direction they took. Flat icons in the same colors would've been perfect. [t]http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18n94s56xz4a3jpg/ku-xlarge.jpg[/t] [t]http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18n94ua4z4bwlpng/ku-xlarge.png[/t] [t]http://cdn.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/iOS-7-concept-iPhone-5S.png[/t] THAT'S how I wanted it to look. It's flatter while still keeping the signature apple pseudo-skeumorphism style and it looks excellent. The colors are solid and easy to differentiate, not various shades of clashing pastel tones. This new stuff is awful.
Personally, I think it looks like shit. Especially this: What in the fuck is that? Yuck.
I agree that whatever that app is is shit, but the rest of iOS 7 looks nice tbh
Looking at some less-unflattering pictures of it, it's not all that awful. Some icon designs are terrible and the settings window is awful, but there's a lot of good. The thin-text is awful. Messaging is too bright, but it's a step up from the gradient-blue of the old iOS. The five-dot instead of a bar is sort of nice, but it takes up too much space. Safari looks loads better, and needed a redesign badly. Calendar looks awful. Full sentences and loads of wasted space. I don't want my phone to say "It's Monday, May 5th, and it's sunny and nice out. Up next on your Calendar is somebody's birthday party. Tell them happy birthday using Facebook or Twitter!" I just want it to fucking say "May 5. Sunny. Bob's Birthday (FB, T). It's just creepy to make it use full sentences - don't make it talk to me, make me able to use it. Translucency is a good idea but the settings bar fucks up the image of it. Certain apps using a GRAY translucency looks wonderful, such as the Calendar. The blur-pastel translucency of the settings bar is absolute shit. Give me this if you start touting minimalism. Minimalism doesn't mean my phone talks to me in full sentences and everything is semi-translucent, it means that stuff is minimal. This is not minimal, it's a clusterfuck of color. The live-view app switcher looks like a huuuuge improvement.
.Isak, kinda funny how that picture that you posted looks like Android running on Iphone hardware. I jumped from a 4S to an Xperia Z and never regretted it. All that rubbish about viruses is not true and Android phones are not the laggy, unreliable, unresponsive machines they're made out to be. Both are great, and both have ups and downs. As it stands, taking iOS7 into account, I prefer Android.
I bet the calendar still doesn't have holidays marked
All the white is going to look like shit on my black iPhone :(
All the white is going to look like shit on my black iPhone :(
Avatar fits!
I hope apple doesn't take on the android look. All the hipsters and teens won't know how to use it.

Android can look really nice, but it can look far, far worse than iOS could even attempt to reach. I just don't want to spend time dicking around with customization options - I want a proper, cohesive theme to be delivered to me. It's the reason I use Glasklart - no glossy icons, no 3D-effect icons (looking at you iHeartRadio), and a very simplistic and cohesive look that fits every app I download. iOS7 is a baby's pastel-colored Easter-Edition Fisher Price toy. Looks very childish and amateur compared to the OSX-esque black-white gradient direction they were heading with the App Store and Music in iOS6. Not a fan at all. I'll get it for the features once the jailbreak comes out, and then slaughter the pastels and the translucency and give it a sense of cohesiveness.

There ARE horribles themes out there, but you'd have to find them and more importantly HAVE THE OPTION TO DO SO! My Sony Xperia Z looks like this out of the box: You look me in the eye and then tell me that looks bad, and if you don't like it you could simply change it... Go to the Google Play Store, type Nova Launcher and get a whole new interface by simply installing an app. Even if you don't want to install Nova Launcher, then drag down the notification bar, hit options, then appearance, then themes and choose which colourset you want or customize it if you want to take to time to do that. Don't act like it's such a choir to install an app or go to options > appearance > themes and select from a dropdown list. Android delivers a clean, 'proper', 'comprehensive' (talking about comprehensivity, Android delivers much more functionality) and appealing OS in many flavours and all easily accessible.

They rarely make their additional shit optional like they really damn should.
apple have won e3!! !! [editline]11th June 2013[/editline] also this looks fucking beaut

That looks absolutely terrible. There's next to no cohesive theme. The phone is floating alone, the WALKMAN/Album/Movies are circles, PSM is a rounded square, other app icons are either less-rounded square or total squares or random shapes and it looks terrible. iOS is far more cohesive directly out of the box than any android system I've laid eyes on. I don't want to spend hours skimming through lists trying to find a theme I like. I'd rather have a clean one on my phone from day 1. It's not that difficult to standardize icons, and I absolutely despise that Android doesn't do that. It looks terrible to me. I like having all my icons be the same general shape. Having some be transparent and some be round and some square and some glossy and some gradient is terrible. It was my problem with old iOS versions, but I could easily fix it with a single icon pack after jailbreaking.
why can't we be friends
Please don't mistake me not agreeing with most people here as a sign of hostility. I'm so sick of how internet users are conditioned to interpret disagreement as hostility all the time. I am just having a discussion, I don't hate anybodies guts or preferences here. All I wish to do is have a normal discussion about them. I just googled "Xperia Z homescreen." Especially for you, I'll show you what my homescreen looks like with doing nothing more than dragging my preferred apps to the homescreen and leaving the rest in the app drawer. Homescreen: Appdrawer: I am not trying to convince anyone to think like me, I'm now just seriously curious if you have any honest criticism on these screens. Personally I think they're very clean, very easy to use and nice and organized. This is all on normal out of the box Android and I only invested 10 minutes to make it look like this, and won't have to do so again unless I want to change it again or get a new phone.
why do you cares care so much, its a fucking phone operating system
Thumb that shit, Christ. Also still looks like shit. If you want actual good looking android, go to http://www.mycolorscreen.com or use a launcher with a cohesive theme. Widgets ruin androids look 100% of the time, that's why I don't use any on my Note 2.
why do you cares care so much, its a fucking phone operating system
I am interested... I'm having a discussion. My point is not to make anyone like Android, my point is to get rid of all the bullshit arguments to like whatever you like. It frustrates me to see fandroids make shit up about Apple to badmouth it, and that Applefanboys make shit up about Android to badmouth it. All this hostality man. Just like and dislike for what is there, there is enough to like and dislike. What I'd like is people to stop making up negative things about brands they don't own.
If your point is to get rid of bullshit arguments than stop having a totalitarian "I think this looks good and if you don't, you're dumb" attitude.
I agree that whatever that app is is shit, but the rest of iOS 7 looks nice tbh
Dude, that's not an app. That's the control centre they expect you to open up really often. You have to look at that ugly, busy shit whenever you want to quickly change the music, connectivity settings or brightness. It's hard to ignore. Oh yeah, it's also accessed via edge swipe, meaning it's gonna be opened accidentally so often.
Both the hardcore Android fanatics and iOS fanatics aren't any good than each other, apple simply wanted to be keep up with the times and their aqua design scheme that was designed in 1999/2000 simply wasn't working anymore like they hoped too and they decided to do something about it They borrowed a combination of Androids Holo and Windows Phone's Metro, through it into a blender and thats how they got this, it'll look amazing on a retina display that's for sure

Also you're pointing me to a website where I can download all sorts of tryhard themes that will make most Apple boys go "Thats way to hard to use, Apple is so much easier to use." Do you realize why you're coming across as "I'm gonna badmouth whatever you do no matter what you do because I just plainly dont wan't to like anything I don't personally own". Seriously is this the case because then that's where my curiosity ends? I'm doing all this to find out why people who happen to love Apple badmouth everything else so much. Holy shit you guys are dumb. None of those themes look good. They're certainly more functional, but if anybody thinks that it looks decent they're lying to themselves. If you are actually curious of what android is capable of instead of ugly non-cohesive shit, check out http://mycolorscreen.com/ It's where people who know what they're doing customize their phones, and they do a great job

If you guys want an example, this took 20 minutes This is my personal phone (The yellow discoloration is because I took it at night, I have an app that tints the screen to be easier on the eyes depending on the time) and it took a widget pack and an icon pack to do this. [editline]10th June 2013[/editline]
I agree, but i'm trying to avoid people going "Jeez that's complicated. Your phone looks absolutely awful and I truly don't understand how you call it clean. Apple does the world a bit of a service by not giving users freedom to customize out of the box. It prevents things like that from being created.
