Council builds 10 level wheel chair ramp to woman's front door after refusing to move her
If there was a malfunction with the wheelchair or someone let go of it there could be a serious danger of it running onto the road into traffic or gather momentum that could seriously harm. Zig zag allows for stopping.
But to counter that shit, you could've done two zigzaggs, one in the middle and one at the end, not 10 of them :v:
Those first two pictures make me think of custom parks in pro skater
wait they were given the house?
I live in West Dunbartonshire. This is the same council who employed people to go around spray painting dog poo bright pink. To highlight the issue of people not cleaning up after their dogs.
This does not surprise me. The council is run by morons

No no you see it has to cost a stupid amount of money to implement. Stop trying to save money!
I like everyone in here saying they should have just built a straight ramp. Only the geniuses of Facepunch could possibly have thought of that!
Seriously guys if there weren't regulations that required the ramp be built like this, they wouldn't have built it like this.
The only way this could be topped is if they built a tiny incline railway.
Jesus Christ, if I was in a wheelchair I'd rather crawl down the path and steps.
Jesus [del]and how much did that cost to put in.[/del]
estimated to be around £40,000

That is brilliant, not only will probably do nothing to stop the problem, you also have the fact it would most likely work out cheaper to pay someone to pick up the crap or pay someone to give out fines.

I'd get the biggest damn dog, and feed it sooooo much steak
ADA defines it as 1:12
that door is a good 6 or 7 feet above the road
aka a 72-84foot long single ramp
that's too long
[editline]13th February 2014[/editline]
"ADA Requires a Maximum of 30 feet in a single run of wheelchair ramp prior to a rest or turn platform."
so it couldn't be done in a single one anyways
(but ada is only for commercial buildings anyways but it's a good guide)
could be 3 levels instead of fucking 10 lol
Why didn't they make a snake pathway? it would probably take less calories to pull her up the lawn backwards.
at least when they go to sell the house they can put down
"the most DDA compliant front yard in the world"
on the house's listing
Efficient way to combat lazy people from avoiding the stairs.
The family nor the council couldn't just remove the 4 steps and ramp that bit up? What the hell? Modify the existing pathway to suit their needs, don't build scaffolding over their lawn that's dumb as hell.

According to this thread, theres limits on the max angle the ramp can be and the council has to follow that, by the sounds of it the family aren't the most productive.

They can't sell the property considering it's council housing.
wait they were given the house?
It's a council house
This reminds me of the greentext story where someone built a maze in the Sims where the Sims died of exhaustion when going to work
Edit: I've found it

So she's complaining about a free ramp on her free house?
So she's complaining about a free ramp on her free house?
No she is complaining that her council house is unsuitable for her family, the council should have rehoused her and not built that monstrosity.
My mom's in a wheelchair and I often push her around, and lemme say:
The ''ramp'' in the OP hardly helps. Maybe her daughter has a small child-sized wheelchair, but an adult-sized one can NOT go up that ramp.
In the winter, you could build up snow bankings in the corners, spray it with water and just slide all the way down.
Reminds of good days of making effecient queue lines in rollercoaster tycoon
A wheelchair ramp so convoluted that it'd probably be quicker to just hassle with the stairs.
