you are correct good sir.

So you're saying you were trolling a moderator. Brilliant.

Devil's advocate isn't trolling.
Neanderthals, who spread all over Europe, had a maximum population of 100,000.
They were smarter than any other species on the planet at that time. Arguably smarter than the other humans at the time.
Yet somehow they only managed a population of 100,000.
The smarter you are, the greater your chance of survival.
Got a source on that?
Those colors are very beautiful... i want that as my pet. :3:

That's what they all say. Way to try and back out cause you know your wrong:smug:
We can't be sure if they are really coloured like that. For all I know, they could be yellow in colour

Is it me or do those spots look like hearts?

I thought the same thing
I've personally seen a male peacock use it's feathers to scare off another bird, to defend some food.
I don't see why you think black's such a bad colour for camouflage. I remember reading somewhere that black domestic cats catch more prey.
What the fuck is that shit? Looks like a fucking turkey.
Where are the good old badass dinosaurs?
However it would violate natural selection.
It would be more beneficial to the organism to be the color of the plant life around it.
Being a seemingly random color doesn't help it does it?
There are lots of animals with bizarre colorings, and they have advantages.
Bright plumage is often used to attract mates. Feathers can be a good visual indicator or the presence of certain vitamins/minerals, indicating health.
Also, Zebras are black and white, and it has its purpose.
You people are forgetting something, evolution is RANDOM, therefore animals do not have to have beneficial adaptations at all. So in other-words, this whole argument is invalid.

I didn't forget that. :saddowns:

I didn't mean you, I was talking to the homo-'sapiens'.

This is wrong.
Where does 'natural selection' play a part in your assertion of evolution?
This is wrong.

Evolution is mostly "random". Some are born with crap genes, some are born with good, some are born with passive. Generally mutations are passive and barely affect survival. Occasionally some born with problems will die off and it will - very gradually - shift to remove those genes. "Good" genes will result in better living and more breeding, so they will spread faster.
Yes, i know for natural selection to work, mutations need to be created for genetic variation. To say evolution is simply chance is a misconception as it would defy the process of natural selection which is the complete opposite.
For a large part it is though. The black and white are probably just the result of random genes that did not affect it's survival chance in anyway.

Nope, this is totally wrong. It's incredibly rare if not unheard of for a non-beneficial gene to spread to an entire species.
Really? I was under the assumption that it happened all the time, since the wiping out of bad genes takes such a long time.
Maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of genes that were beneficial at one time then remained despite now being useless.
It's the opposite.
The wiping out of bad genes happens really, really quickly :v:
Oh yeah.
I'm tired and need to evolve that fish not needing to sleep ability.
damnit,I expected a rainbow dinosaur
looks p. cool
