EA, Valve wooing Nintendo for Wii U online distribution services? (Rumor)

I don't know, I would prefer Steam (as the rest of the world I think), but Valve isn't as strong in the console as EA. I EA were to be dicks and say "Origin or no EA games on Wii U" I doubt Nintendo would pick Valve.
I know Nintendo is trying to do the right thing, but EA's online services are terrible
Steam on consoles would be pretty awesome.
origin on consoles would not.
We need to start a petition or something saying we want Steam on Wii U. DO IT GUYS DO IT!
I was going to say "Why doesn't let Nintendo let people who buy the console choose whether or not they want to use Steam or Origin?" but then I remembered that EA would flip the fuck out if they had to share anything with Valve. Anything less than exclusive is nothing, apparently.
Origin would suck ass on Wii U, Steam would clearly be the better choice.
Origin sucks ass in general. Steam will always be superior.
I was going to say Nintendo wouldn't be stupid enough to give EA platform exclusivity, but given some of their marketing decisions recently and how badly they've dealt with their online service over the past five years I think I'll hold off.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from a strictly monetary standpoint, wouldn't EA be better financially for Nintendo? They publish and produce far more games in a year.
Not saying I'd prefer Origin, fuck Origin. I'd rather steam be on the Wii U, but it honestly seems like a long shot.
Free-to-play TF2 on the Wii U with proper support and free community maps would be kind of neat. It would also be another free thing to toss in with the system.

Yeah, all they release for the Wii are the crap casual games and several hundred sports games.
What's the point the Wii U? People have all these insane computers now, those glossy Macbooks that sell like hotcakes have ridiculously high end CPU's and GPU's, and even casual computers have good hardware.
As long as Valve doesn't make a game Wii U only, I don't care. I like PC gaming because I don't have to buy a whole new pointless closed platform device JUST to play games. My PC is my computer and my console.

There is always the potential for a console exclusive should Nintendo pair up with Valve. Who cares honestly, I say it is worth the effort. It doesn't mean Valve will abandon their main market (PC).
Also the console offers the typical user a wide variety of easy entertainment. Coupled with the fact that a lot of people just don't feel like bothering with a PC to begin with.
Next in the news: Woman fired from EA

Steam has Call of Duty, Skyrim, and a myriad of other titles.

Steam has those titles on their platform, but they aren't the publishers, hence they don't make that big of a cut.
Eh, I wasn't really planning on getting a Wii U to begin with so if Origin is put on it won't matter to me.
Of course, that doesn't make it any better
I'm actually pretty stoked for the Wii U.

The first console I've been excited for in a while.
Ah, what an era of technology to not have money in.

Not wanting to buy a $250+ Wii U is elitist?
This is very interesting. I visited Valve two days ago, and on one of the walls I saw some Steam concepts that showed the use of A/B buttons for entering/going back. At the time I assumed it must've been concepts for Steam on the 360, but it must have been the Wii.

I know that feel, bro. I know that feel.
Wow. Just had the greatest thought. If Steam was on the Wii U. If someone had Metro Last light on steam on their PC, since valve has cross platform support and all, wouldn't they be able to use it on the Wii U because of steam cloud? I imagine it would work like how portal 2 on the PS3 was with the key and all.

And EA probably wouldn't be able to handle the network of the massive nintendo fanbase.
All Nintendo needs to do is look at the figures.

We can only hope, man. We can only hope.
Just saying: VALVe is, without a doubt, the dominant figure in digital distribution. Just having the name slapped onto the console would sell so many more.
If everything goes well though, we'll have access to both services. I don't think EA would be dumb enough to pass up developing on a console just because they can't have exclusivity. That would result in passing up potentially millions and millions of dollars.
As much as I dislike Origin, at least Nintendo is considering SOMETHING better than their existing online system.
I would rather use Origin than the friend code system.
Nintendo better make the right choice.
I already reserved a spot for the Wii U pre-order.

Not only that, but they need to consult the charts, examine the tables, and cross-reference the diagrams.

Yeah there's that and there's the fact that Nintendo probably doesn't know anything about Valve that they don't need to. Valve hasn't really done anything with them in the past and Nintendo's never really needed to pay attention to what they're doing since Valve has never really competed with them over anything (except an award they didn't care about in the first place.) They probably don't have anything to go by other than statistics.
Steam must beat back the betentacled challenger and get Steam onto the Wii U, whilst refusing exclusivity to both spite Origin and show that there's no hard feelings between the two, allowing equal competitive space on the Wii U for those few heretics who truly bend knee before Origin instead of the almighty Gaben. Give the Steam the opportunity to do something for Nintendo; there are many benefits to be had despite the siren-like allure of the EA mermaid.
They'll have their reprieve, but in time Steam will dominate, and that's a good thing even though domination is usually a bad thing, because Hey!, it's Valve!
