Origin? Bad idea NINTENdo,EA games are overpriced.
As much as we all want it, I can't see steam ending up on Wii U. I hope to be proven wrong, but at the moment I doubt it will happen. Most likely there'll be some bastardized version of origin for EA games along with the standard nintendo online.
It was really really well handled on the PS3 from what I messed with when I was at my friends place. It has like no problems and they could probably easily emulate it. Valve has all these things set up already if you think about it.
Steam on Wii U, now that will be awesome. Not Origin though. If Origin and Steam did appear on the Wii U, then hell froze over. But yes, if they jump onto the Steam boat, the only company that refuses is Microsoft, and who really thinks Steam will be on XBL or the next MS console(besides Kinect).
I hope to god that if this goes to plan and they like what Valve has to offer that we can play with wiiu players along with mac and PC, with custom maps being able to function properly and other goodies (like text chat on the little screen with the option to go to your steam friends list). Steam would be the better option, it was proven with the PS3.
this just makes you sound like an elitist
The Wii U makes users look like they have brain damage and it's some kind of rehabilitative therapy i herd u like gimmicks so we put in a touchscreen... [editline]14th November 2011[/editline] Has Nintendo made any successful IP franchises in the last few years anyway?
Has Nintendo made any successful IP franchises in the last few years anyway?
Well they've REmade a lot of successful IP franchises lately?
Well they've REmade a lot of successful IP franchises lately?
Considering they lost something to the tune of 100 million dollars, I doubt we'll see anything new for a while. I don't mind when they take a franchise like mario and make the mario RPG and paper mario games, that's the kind of stuff I like seeing... a re-release of SMB3, less so.
Imagine PS3/Wii U/PC/Mac cross platform play. That would be so fucking awesome.
Imagine PS3/Wii U/PC/Mac cross platform play. That would be so fucking awesome.
Only if you have a PC
Steam on Wii U? My god, this would be the day I die of a heart attack.
If Nintendo goes with Steam: Unfortunately, EA has a much strong console presence. [editline]14th November 2011[/editline] Has Nintendo made any successful IP franchises in the last few years anyway?
A touchscreen has for more potential than any sort of motion nonsense.
Unfortunately, EA has a much strong console presence.
Well, maybe that's a good thing (for Steam) Since Valve has no stake in the Wii, really (was there ever a Valve game released on a Nintendo platform?) then Nintendo would grant no one an advantage as Valve is neutral on the Wii U. Origin is purely an EA Games marketing device, mainly because they have no other games than EA ones so far. A big reason against Origin is: Activision. I doubt Activision would ever allow Nintendo to distribute their titles via an EA-only platform. The same reason why you will never ever see an Activision title on Origin. Steam on the other hand has 'em all (except for EA if you look at Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 disappearing) but they'll come around sooner or later.
It would make so much sense for Nintendo. Their online system has been, quite frankly, a disaster so far. With steam they would not only get a system that is well-established but also widely supported in the "hardcore" gamer crowd and in the independent game scene. Origin doesn't have that and generally has a bad reputation.
If they went with EA, most of the other publishers will not want to touch the Wii U with a long stick. Steam's a more neutral ground - as it is, a lot of publishers already use it.
EA should make their own console to keep most of it's crap there.
though i wont buy a wii u, i hope valves wins, so more people will see why valve is awesome
Why would Nintendo go with a single publisher-exclusive platform? Thats flatout stupid.
Why would Nintendo go with a single publisher-exclusive platform? Thats flatout stupid.
Yeah, because EA and Valve would kindly team up.
Origin at the moment has got the woo from other publishers when it comes to 3rd party games, you'll make a bigger profit and turnout if you go with steam.
God every time I see this rumor I shake my head. It honestly sounds like horseshit to me and that Nintendo will be handling things themselves as usual. I'm actually kind of surprised that I seem to be the only one questioning the source at all really, but yeah, I need a better source then literally a friend of a friends friend.
There is always the potential for a console exclusive should Nintendo pair up with Valve. Who cares honestly, I say it is worth the effort. It doesn't mean Valve will abandon their main market (PC). Also the console offers the typical user a wide variety of easy entertainment. Coupled with the fact that a lot of people just don't feel like bothering with a PC to begin with.
Not in the age where people can't get the fuck off their Macbook Pros. I swear it's like they get high off of holding it and clicking it's keys, and yes they plays games like WoW, Runescape, Facebook games, etc on it.
I hope go with valve. then they can call it "Steam U" which sounds like an awesome 18th century insult.
team gayben vs team hawhawhawkins i vote gayben
Rumors....that's all this is. For christ's sake, you're believing a Rumor about Valve....
Perhaps it's too early to say, but if Valve expands onto the Wii U, maybe Nintendo will break into the PC market
That would be so fucking awesome Imagine 3d mario games for PC!
That would be so fucking awesome Imagine 3d mario games for PC!
Now that I would like. Being forced to buy a Wii U just for I can buy and play an exclusive game? Nope.
Yeah, because EA and Valve would kindly team up.
They already do :v: EA is Valve's Console publisher after all.
I emailed gaben a while back about HL for the Wii. Coincidence, probably.

ValvE Master Race does not fear competition - they know they've won.
