I live in Maine... and I've never had lobster.
Something is wrong here.
What. That's like...living in..Vermont and never have had maple syrup before. Or living in Texas and never trying BBQ.
I don't see what you're point is.
I live in the Midwest and lobster is still delicious.
I know they bring them in live but it's not like I go to New England looking for bbq
What. That's like...living in..Vermont and never have had maple syrup before. Or living in Texas and never trying BBQ.
Or living in New England without tasting clam chowder
Mmmm lobster.
If lobster was cheap like that I wouldn't want to eat it. When it's 1 dollar a pound, it's no different from SPAM
It's a shame it's not this cheap on the west coast. Lobster is still expensive and I never get to order it
What. That's like...living in..Vermont and never have had maple syrup before. Or living in Texas and never trying BBQ.
The excuse my family has been using is that it's far too expensive.
I don't think that excuse works anymore.
Lobster used to be dirt cheap up until the Industrial Era, when rich people started eating it for some reason.
Sailors used to have contracts limiting the amount of meals a week that had lobster in it. It was considered poor people food.
this sells the lobster
i'm not a huge fish person
what does lobster taste like?
there's a little bit of irony too: i'm a Mainer, and i've never had lobster

[sp]dont have shit here[/sp]
Woah woah woah
prices have fallen to as low as $1.25 in SOME areas
SOME
In other words in some specific locations fishermen are charging $1.25/lb at the dock. What does this mean for you and me and Red Lobster? diddly squat
Spicy lobster is great, hope its reduced in California.
Lobster is still like $12 a pound in Michigan. What is this shit?
Lobster is still like $12 a pound in Michigan. What is this shit?
Well, it isn't the lobster they're talking about, because as the article says they can't ship soft-shelled lobster over long distances, so it's mostly consumed locally.
This is similar to issues farmers have in the UK, where the market price for things like milk, eggs and poultry is less than what it costs to produce, leaving them out of pocket.
fuck, $4/lb is still better than what we have now
i'd move to Maine and buy a few dozen pounds of lobster at $4/lb for them
if i had money
I'll take 3

If you live where you near places that catch lobster (newfoundland Nova Scotia, Maine...) good lobster really isn't that much.
I bet this had something to do with that damn McLobster
Lobster used to be dirt cheap up until the Industrial Era, when rich people started eating it for some reason.
Same thing with crayfish. They used to be considered a poorman's meal, then it got really really popular in the gulf of mexico region. The only difference here is that crayfish stayed incredibly cheap.
I live in Connecticut and the Lobstering business here has really declined over the last few years.
Now I can get lobster at a buffet without spending an extra few bucks.
Well that's not good, I have family members in Maine who are in the lobstering business, and they were just barely scraping by as it is.
lets just hope they know how to claw their way out of debt
Up here in Maine I was at walmart and lobsters where cheaper than pork which is surprising.
And just a few days ago I ate a Lobster for $2/lb.
Time to spend more on lobsters now!
I don't know how anybody can eat crustaceans. Have you ever looked at one? They're basically roaches that live underwater instead of under your sink, not only in appearance but in role: bottomfeeders.
I tried lobster but i don't really get what the big deal is, I prefer crab.
Time to go on Runescape and buy out the whole lobster market.

I've personally raised hundreds of crayfish and it's definitely something I wouldn't put near my mouth.
That's why for most of human history they were seen as inedible or low-class food.
