My post was partly joking too. I don't really care that we wiped EU debt to the US away. People responded to it though, so I did.

debt? WE GAVE YOU YOUR OWN FREAKING COUNTRY!

LOLNO. We had to go to war for this country. ENGLAND (not Europe) colonized the eastern part of what is now the US and gave the citizens there absolutely no rights that the English citizens had. We founded our own country by fighting for it, thank you.
America restricting rights? Where's the news?
I'm tired of U.S.'s Government constantly favoring the corporation's rights over an individual's rights. Capitalism is a terrible system.

I haven't been to wikipedia at all today. Sorry for having a high school education I guess.
Why won't they just arrange an accidental leak to Wikileaks?

OK, I know that you don't want to argue anymore, but I can't help but say that that was the stupidest thing I've read all week. Please read up on your history before trying to be smart. America had to fight for their country. How do you not know that? Are British schools sour about it and try to forget about it or something?
you fought for it? you purchased land from Russia, France and Spain..

Okay, the revolutionary war never happened then. Your education system must really suck, because we fought for our freedom from the British, and then later purchased land from other countries in order to expand. (Also, we slaughtered Indians.)
EDIT:
Also, we fought Mexico for land. (along with paying for it.)
It's why we let you borrow our money.

Any thread that has anything to do with EU or US is a bottle of pure nitroglycerine, just look at what that (sarcastic) comment caused.

My education system doesnt cover up american history because we dont really give a shit.
Also I see one thing that gets forgotten a bit too often: The French, Spanish and Dutch helped quite a lot in the war of independence.

Then don't talk shit about something you don't know, simple as that. I find it hard to believe that there aren't classes which cover US history though. We learned a lot about Europe in History of the Americas, that's how much the Americas tie into Europe.

Oh, I'm fine with Zeke. I'm just concerned about some of the other member's education in this thread. I'm seriously starting to think that European schools are pretending that one of the most important events in history never happened.
Also I see one thing that gets forgotten a bit too often: The French, Spanish and Dutch helped quite a lot in the war of independence.
That's right, they really did. French aid was actually extremely important to our success in the revolutionary war. I wrote a paper on it in 11th grade.

I may regret saying this, but I find it hilarious how most European people call America stupid, when they don't even know one of the most important events in history. I think they must be jealous because they lost, or something. American schools learn about other countries.

We have our fair share of stupid people, Europe has theirs.

Is that why they think I live in an igloo
Well, it might explain why I wrestle with polarbears each morning and why there is 2 meters of snow outside.

You don't? What the fuck? But, but, you're Canadian. Everything I've learned aboot you it false then, eh?

Honestly in some parts of Europe it's no surprise it's not being teached in schools (example here in Romania, we had nothing to do with it so we don't give a shit about it) but seeing that guy being british and saying stupid uneducated shit like that is sad, and I'm sure he's a small kid who hasn't managed to learn about it in school since it's impossible that the british schools don't teach about America's revolutionary war.

I've learned about Romanian events that have nothing to do with the U.S. in my school.
