Only tech nerds will really care about this news and most, if not all of them, probably already use an Android device.

You could also blame the US patent system for awarding patents much more frequently than they did before. More patents, more "hey that was my idea! *lawsuit*"

Not so much the US patent system entirely as it is those kind of patents where you go 'who the hell approved this'.
