if these are supposed to showcase the engine in something other than a boring room then it really isn't helping
it looks exactly like every other game released since 2007
its not supposed to be next gen, title is super sensationalized (as expected)
it's just supposed to handle dynamic lighting and shadows differently and more efficiently than most engines today.
Great, now we have the perfect engine for Placing Animals in Unfit Locations Simulator.
No seriously, I've always dreamed of fitting a horse in a reunion room.

It's "Next Generation" as in their new generation of engine for their company. Not an engine for "Next Generation" consoles :words:

First picture reminds me of BC2 and the second reminds me of Crysis with a mix of L4D2's Source engine version.
get out of that office horse
you're too big
you don't even have a suit
Metal Gear developer Kojima Productions is preparing for its Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event on August 30 at which it will make revelations that'll 'shake' the industry.
That's according to the latest Kojima Productions podcast (thanks Gematsu), which promises 'exciting announcements' to come.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has already said that his new Fox Engine will be shown at the August 30 event - taking place in Tokyo, Japan - and hinted that it could be demonstrated alongside a new game (Metal Gear Solid 5, anyone?).
The 'Fox Engine' is a totally original engine from Kojima Productions, created to power future KP projects starting with Kojima's mystery new game.
KP's Chris Johns said during the podcast that there's "a lot of things to look forward to next week, not just for fans, but I think the industry's gonna be shook by what we're going to be able to present here."
Kojima will apparently make an announcement regarding an 'idea of a game that connects people'.
Stop hyping us so much Kojima!
I'd rather have a full remake of MGS1 from the ground up in this engine. It was missing from the box set and seeing Shadow Moses in MGS4 was really nice.
They remade made it for GameCube I want a Brand new game or Remake of Metal Gear or Metal Gear II First anyway

the pictures are fucking small, everything looks great at this size.

See the bottom picture, the engine creates a lightning behind the flat TV where real life doesn't.
Looks like Kojima won the realism/graphics race.
All these engine previews look amazing for PR. In games they rarely look that good.

If you run the game in 200x200 window. But even then competition is fierce.
Yeah I still don't think anything beats high-end cryengine so far, even years after crysis 1 it still looks like the most high-tech game out there.
Wait a few years though people. Just a few more years.

We could easily beat cry if we actually wanted to. Though there's not much of a reason to do so from commercial standpoint.

The easiest way to tell is look at the reflections on the wall.

I'd like that, as long as Kojima actually directs it this time. The Twin Snakes remake was terrible. The guy who did that is terrible at directing

A slightly larger version. Either way, it's still very impressive guys. It's A) the lights, and B) the chairs that can give it away though.

Then we'll have a "Solid Snake: Fox" thread to go along with our "Black Mesa: Source" one. Both games would never be released.

what, you mean you don't like every quick movement making the sound of a 747 and Snake essentially being Spider Man?
Honestly though, I liked Twin Snakes, it just had a cutscene director that had way too much of a hard-on for The Matrix.

I still see no obvious giveaways, only after studying it now the only thing that looks even remotely suspicious is the thingy at the bottom of the black screen, looks less detailed on the right

Things like dust on the table and that yellow thing in the background, they are brighter on the right. That's how I can tell them apart.

The pictures have jagged edges that are really obvious once you notice them.

Plus the glass in the frames aren't reflecting the light along with the TV, which is damned obvious.
and the red chairs are too perfect and consistent while going back at what appears to be a very awkward angle for a chair's back
well i guess considering i had to scrutinize in order to notice ANYTHING I'm impressed
Just wait until it's at 1920x1200.
It looks nice, but in no way is it cutting edge.
