yeh it's great, until you get to that convoluted mess that is the game kojima didn't even want to make; mgs4. yeh great can't wait for another piece of crap he wants to make even less. i bet that'll come out great
You got trolled by Kojima.
Everything metal gear is a fukkin masterpiece, besides twin snakes but that wasn't kojima. I really hope this is the last metal gear solid game for a long time though, I really want to see a new idea from him. No sequels no remakes please.
I'd rather have a full remake of MGS1 from the ground up in this engine. It was missing from the box set and seeing Shadow Moses in MGS4 was really nice.
I would really like MGS1 style multiplayer. :tinfoil:
But MGO multiplayer is alright, if you don't count the hackers and whiners. :eng101:
not sure what would be worse. another poor and exceedingly convoluted extension of the storyline or more bad spinoff games
Are you being serious? MGS4 owned.

this is so wrong have you even played it
I'd rather have a full remake of MGS1 from the ground up in this engine. I'd personally like to see a remake of the original metal gear, or a remake (an ACTUAL remake) of MGS3.
Prolly will be. This smells like aproaching that. It'll probably have the twist of both Big Bosses and Solid Snakes perspectives. Much like MGS2.
Oh fuck I never thought of this. That would be fucking amazing.

Why would a remake of MGS3 be needed?

It'll be Solid Snake constantly talking to his pet cat over codec about how badass Big Boss is and how he can't handle expanding their relationship and that his room's walls have no posters...

Also he can't remember what day it is
As I posted in the previous Fox Engine thread:
Jesus people you act as if what is shown in these ~340x230 pictures is anything impressive :v:
Here, have a downscaled Crysis screenshot:

The limited resolution of the images in the OP makes it harder to point out flaws, but as soon as you scale things up this likely won't be as impressive.
From what I gather, they're going for the "real time all the time" thing that CryEngine also does, aka no pre-baked lighting etc. This is why I'm comparing the two.
[editline]3rd March 2012[/editline]
Also, I assume they have a some sort of global illumination system similiar to Frostbite 2 or CryEngine 3, as there's a faint red colour in the ceiling which seems like light reflected off the chairs.

Been quiet since last year. Notch thinks it's bullshit and Carmack doesn't believe it will be possible on current systems. They never showed any actual demonstration gameplay.
You mean, you never bothered to watch the interview where they showed off exactly that.
*ninjad*

Oh you meant the interview I didn't know existed, and consisted mainly of flying around and didn't have any gameplay? I'm not saying their engine is bullshit, I'm not saying they can't do it real time, I said they didn't show any gameplay, as in what was possible on their engine if you were playing a game. I'm well aware that they showcased the engine plenty of times.

It is still in development so of course there won't be any gameplay. Plus they aren't game developers, they are developing an engine for use by game developers.

I'm not saying there should be, he asked what the status was and I said there hadn't been any gameplay yet because I thought it was relevant. Fucking hell.
That's so cherry picked, you could do that with tons of current gen engines
You could do it with source.
You could do it with source.
iD Tech 1 and photoshop. I dare you!
On a side note, I think GTA4's engine looks pretty impressive for its age when using Icehancer, ENB mods, HD Texture packs, and High Poly models,.
What I'm looking forward most in future engines are "dynamics". I think the poly counts are good enough but we need more particles, physics, volumetric lighting, dynamic lighting. But mainly for me I want to see more physics. More deformation and materials, soft bodies, liquids, rigid bodies in mass numbers, mass dynamic particles etc.) The closest that ever got was with PhysX but we all know that's dead.
Best I've seen to date is this Unreal 4 Engine walkthrough and no its not the Sumerian demo.

I don't know if kojima's engine can compete. We will see tomorrow!
Of course the engine isn't going to compete with Unreal, they've been adding to it and changing it for years and years. As long as the Engine suits Kojima's needs then I don't care how uber-realistic or good it might look.
He'll please people more by making it run multi-platform and being well optimized.

Hell, Unreal is developed by a company that dedicates itself to their engine technology because they resell it. Kojima and his studio are a game design studio first and foremost. Their engine will be built to their spec before anything else.

Clouds cast shadows. Holy fuck.
Well folks it's a METAL GEAR MOVIE!!!

David Bowie confirmed for MGS5
Better fucking be animated or have David Hayter in main role.
Lol consoles are for casual gamers.

I could tell immediately just because of the edges on the chairs and the absent reflections of the light sources in B.

That's just bloody goddamn awesome.
"Open world" is closer to the structure of MGS1,2,3 and 4 was since it implies a single cohesive mission location instead of 5 short stories with anti-cancer commercial breaks.
"Fox" engine? Bet it'll be hard to program the accuracy of the weapons properly.
[sp]Huehuehue it is a Fox News joke[/sp]
