feedly is alright I suppose, just feels too bloated compared to google reader.
tbh, I've never really seen the point for rss readers. Still, must be shit for those who did.

I use it mainly to keep up with my webcomics and blogs.

yep
I also use it for podcasts, non youtube videos, daily steam deals, woot deals, etc
funny how they said usage has declined, after they rolled out the controversial Google+ integration update that no one wanted and got Google Reader blocked in Iran due to their censorship.

Google+ integration? I need to pay more attention..
I switched over to Feedly today and I don't see why most people in this thread are complaining about it. Set the display mode to "Titles" or "Cards" and it's essentially the same as Reader.
Also if you go into "Organize" and put your subscriptions into categories (or just 1 category, which is what I did), they'll display in the left side bar.

I didn't know people actually even used RSS feeds.

It's godly for webcomics.

If you use multiple devices and want to keep track of what you've already read on multiple sites across them all it's your best bet

Also who's gonna bookmark all their webcomics and remember which update when.

It's the same for news sites too. I'm not going to visit Polygon (replace with anything) at the end of the day and browse through everything when I can just see at a glance all the stuff I missed and read what sounds interesting.
I even read this sensationalist headlines forum via RSS:

Sad to see google reader die, but I've found Fever to be a pretty decent alternative, after you apply a bunch of css tweaks to make it look less awful. Just needs a good mobile app.
Anyone else moving to fever might find this useful: https://github.com/darkimmortal/fever-google-starred-importer

Dude, that costs $30 and you have to host it yourself...
That is in no way comparable or a replacement for google reader.
Feedly's mobile app looks terrible though and is impossible to navigate. [...]
It's customisable, you can change how you browse articles. It's not as good as Currents because the scrolling is still paged and not continuous, but it works.
In other news, Digg wants to build a Reader alternative.
Guess my dad is going to have to find a different Reader alternative.
