Back when the first XCOM thread on general games discussion was made I posted my idea of an alternate XCOM setting where the aliens won and XCOM now had to go around the globe undermining their control to finally liberate Earth. I can't be assed to find the post, however. If I was less lazy I would prove my ability to peer into the future to you. This new game doesn't seem identical to my idea, but the spirit of it seems to be the same. I'm betting the game will deal with what the governments/corporations of Earth did with the amazing alien technology we recieved during the war. Or it could just be aliens again. Either way, I'm excited.
I hope we get new weapons, gadgets and tech levels.
I mean, at this point with all the undeniable XCOM assets if this actually turns out to not be XCOM related whatsoever it's gonna be a huge bummer.
The distorted voice makes it seem like XCOM will be against Advent, acting as a kind of liberation force. With a name like 'Advent' I could easily imagine some fucked up gene manipulation to force some pseudo-evolution on the people to become more like the aliens. If it is XCOM, there's also the thread of [sp]"What the fuck were the aliens so afraid of that they invaded us?"[/sp]
Well, according to the ending of XCOM, [sp]the head aliens of the invasion are a species who evolved as much as they could, and basically want to "uplift" a civilization to beyond even their levels. If this is truly after Bad End XCOM, Advent is the aliens doing just that, by experimenting on the test subjects who volunteer to the program. The game would probably be about liberating these test subjects and gaining back the humanity the aliens took from the planet, which would be pretty awesome.[/sp]
Can't wait to pay $99 for the PC master race package that won't even contain all the content.
I wanted Mafia 3. :(

They got booted off and wandered on their own for a couple centuries. Then they found that their bodies were too fragile and were dying. They started experimenting to create a new species that could house their consciousness better than their own fragile bodies. They weren't able too, so they tried experimenting on humans to unlock their psionic potential and use them instead. But then XCOM comes along uses those psionic abilities to destroy them all. The setup for this game is probably going to be that some of the aliens survived, but were too weak for an outright invasion. They decided to bide their time and wait for an opportunity. Then something catastrophic happens to Earth, as hinted by that audio clip. The aliens create/take over ADVENT as a safe haven so people flock to it, only to be secretly using it to turn people into perfect hosts for them.[/sp] Also, this is now on the site. I would happily preorder XCOM again, for what I got. [editline]27th May 2015[/editline] Population has leaped in the ADVENT cities. Edit: I've figured out the ADVENT symbol -it's a stick-figure angel. Also: Any similarities in appearance of that symbol or am I seeing things?

Unfortunately the game was cancelled and then sold off to another company who ended up making it into the less-than-stellar UFO: Aftermath.

It's just that some people on some forums said they'd seen a resemblance and I thought I might have seen one. Edit: topmost ADVENT ad reads:
The ADVENT is lying to you. They want to subdue and destroy us all.
The website was suspicious enough without the hacking, the hackers stating the blatantly obvious (THIS SOUNDS NICE BUT IT'S ACTUALLY BAD!!!) is overkill.

Is it the manual double quote preventing merging?
Doesn't sound like him to me. Wouldn't really make much sense for it it be him either, as this is clearly significantly in the future. Apocalypse took place like 70 years after XCOM: UFO Defense, and while the timelines aren't necessarily identical, that tech futuristic enough that Bradford would have to be way older than that guy sounds.
Like I said, Bradford looks suspiciously like the younger version of the Cancer Man from X-Files. I was thinking its either a bad end and going to follow a sort of UFO:Afterlight sort of sequence loosely or its going to be Apoc.[/sp]
New stuff [t]http://i.imgur.com/B8UiiLD.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/5bZ7lmE.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZS4UnSx.png[/t] I guess she wasn't a thin man after all? Her eyes never looked yellow enough to me anyway.
Also,
We are
and the population has jumped again.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/5bZ7lmE.png[/t]
Might just be me, but the shading on this pic reminds me of Enemy Unknown/Within's cover art. [t]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ncCWCZgGtcw/UhtC-Rg5XBI/AAAAAAAAAgM/baKDYdzND6U/s1600/xcom-enemy-within-p3.png[/t]
The font used for the "hacked" words is the same as the one used for most (if not all) of the UI in EU.
Considering that the pre-orders for a potential new XCOM may be coming in June, this ARG can be no mere coincidence. Yep, all signs are pointing towards a new XCOM.
and the population has jumped again.
What if that's actually the number of missing people? It'd make sense given that all the "happy residents" of advent on the site are now missing.
Please be Terror From The Deep
Please be Terror From The Deep
For the last time, that possibility has been specifically denied.
Still, we wish it were...
New update today has a hidden link. The link is actually broken, but I changed it to fit the format of the previous hidden link, and it sent me here: https://downloads.2kgames.com/adventfuture/images/en/ADVENT_LIES.html GENE THERAPY links to the pdf on the main site. The letters GFIIOLID are bolded. Doesn't seem to be an anagram.
Also:
The ADVENT is lying to you. They want to subdue and destroy us all. We are still here. Millions have gone missing the ADVENT way. where are your neighbors now?

I'm starting to think these Advent guys might be a little shady
Could the letters not necessarily spell a word, but maybe resemble one under a particular arrangement?

So this is pretty much 100% XCOM. hype
