It seems like these people (bigoted politicians) grew up in some remote society where they had no idea of what societies are really comprised of and are trying to force their outdated social models on a far more developed nation. I'd hope that with the spread of the internet and a greater access to peer's ideas, new politicians will somehow preach a message of more tolerance and acceptance that they would have heard as young adults.
