The Xbox one is also mainly a games console, people are just being stupid and don't realize that MS is waiting for e# to talk about games.

They could have shown atleast some gameplay at the reveal and then just showed more at E3, like how sony did it.
All they need to do is review anything Microsoft say and then announce the opposite of what they're planning :v:
Here's hoping Sony won't get cocky from all the press coverage, though.
Doesn't seem like Microsoft would agree with you.
It's clearly obvious that gaming is not the main focus of the Xbox One. Disregarding all the rumors of anti-privacy and anti-used games technology that may be in Xbox one, from what we do know: Many of the Xbox One's announced features are not going to mean much to hardcore gamers.
While I can't say that every single thing Sony will do with PS4 will have gamers in mind first; it seems much more oriented for gamers then Xbox One.
E3 will reveal more Xbox One games, but it doesn't matter; the direction they're going with Xbox One is clearly not gaming, but entertainment; which they've been saying for years was their goal.
Why is it even necessary to declare that a gaming console is supposed to be focused on gaming, this shit should be a given, for consoles in general.
It isn't 1982 anymore. Gaming Consoles are home media centers now, like it or not. Sony is declaring that they're focusing on games first and media second and if the PS3 is any indication, they did one hell of a job back then and I'm sure they'll do it again.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
Cheap Blue-ray player is about the only NOTICEABLE thing it did, even then it was a catastrophically hard sell.
The PS3 did the whole "media centre" thing quite well I think. The XCross interface kept shit that needn't be together apart, and you were able to stream from a variety of devices, along with read files from external drives quite easily. It still had a focus on games, but also managed to be quite an effective media centre.
It's like Sony knows what people are mad about in the Xbox and strengthen themselves at exactly those aspects.

It's almost as if they're looking at news comments and forums...

Weird, sony is a company, and as we all know companies don't understand such simplistic things like emotion!
It's sad that now at this point, saying games are you main focus for a gaming console is now a selling point.
Oh well, Microsoft just had to be dumb enough to think that people want to use their console as a second computer.
Sony is taking the right approach with the PS4. It's a gaming console, so focus on games. I'm anxious to see what E3 is going to be like.
Why does it have to be a gaming console, why can't it be an "entertainment console" and pander to almost every market possible?

There's nothing wrong with an entertainment console per say, but Microsoft has to be careful to not fall into the trap of "Jack of all trades, master of none."

Well it'd be difficult for it to not be a master of everything (except, i guess, games), as long as they have a blu-ray player, they're a master of blu-ray and DVD playing, as long as they have the netflix app, they're a master of netflix. And really as long as they get good exclusives that are fun, they are a master of games, at least as far as consoles can be.
I think as of the last year or so, Sony is really pulling their shit together. Maybe they're one of the first and few to realize and adopt that absolutely putting the customers first will guarantee successes. Of course it would be nice if they did this with everything and not just the PS4

Well, we'll see. For nearly 6 years now the PS3 has been the go-to for Netflix and Blu-Ray and I don't imagine that's going to switch all that quickly. Microsoft also better improve its Netflix app; the PS3 one just makes a mockery of it.
Why does it have to be a gaming console, why can't it be an "entertainment console" and pander to almost every market possible?
Because I have a cable box, blu-ray player, and a PC. I want my gaming console to just be a gaming console. That's just me, I guess.
Off topic, but I just realized, how do you abbreviate Xbox One?
Xbone?
One?
XB1?
X1?
I hope Xbone catches on in the mainstream. It looks kinda stupid written but I reckon it would be even worse spoken out loud unironically.
