his life and future have been ruined by the media, it's not like he's gotten off scot-free
At least he's still alive. Lets ask Martin how he's do- oh wait.
his life and future have been ruined by the media, it's not like he's gotten off scot-free
don't know if you've noticed, but he killed an innocent teenager.
At least he's still alive.
If I were in this situation I would have asked the police to shoot me by now.
don't know if you've noticed but I've stopped reading your posts bec...
I hope you didn't follow this with anything important.
this is a bit like arguing with a brick wall who has downs syndrome
pot calling the kettle black. and the kettle is actually white. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] also I don't think the stand your ground law really works as a defense because he instigated the whole sequence of events that lead to martin being killed.
honest question: in stand your ground trials, is burden of proof on the defendant or the victim/prosecution? because if its not on the defendant the law is broken badly
Like MBB said, it's still up to the prosecution to prove him guilty. He has admitted that he killed Trayvon already but claims it was legally justified use of force (self defense). The prosecution has to prove that Zimmerman's actions did not qualify as legally justified use of force.
Zimmerman left his house, got in his car, pursued a teenager who was walking down a public sidewalk. called 911. then he left his car, followed Martin at least some distance on foot. confronted martin. something happened. Then Zimmerman shot Martin and somehow didn't do anything illegal over the course of that entire, long process. None of those actions would constitute a crime under florida law. That's the big fucking problem here. one of those things, be it pursuing someone who was doing nothing illegal, or confronting them while armed despite, again, the fact that they had done nothing illegal, or maybe just the specific action of shooting them after you had done those things should be illegal. there should be a crime in there somewhere.
Zimmerman is claiming that he lost track of Trayvon while following him, then Trayvon came from behind him as he was walking back to his car and assaulted him. We don't actually have evidence that Zimmerman confronted Trayvon, just that he was following him. The "something happened" is the most critical part of this case because they need to know exactly under what circumstances the trigger was pulled. You could say that Zimmerman could have avoided this incident by not following Trayvon, that is true, but he had no way to know that he was just a teenager walking home with some candy and iced tea at the instant he saw him.

But why is it ok to have some self important armed guy following people? I can guarantee you if you some guy was following you at night you'd be scared shitless. Can't he be charged for causing trauma or fear to the point that Trayvon was doing self defense or something? I mean scaring someone to death and delusional rage is sorta fucked up beyond words.
The Treyvon Martin case is about Jello Pudding not guns.

What I would not do is come up behind the guy who was following me and assault him (not saying this is definitely what happened of course but this is apparently Zimmerman's defense).
