The fact that Americans and Brits have different humor styles are a testament to the fact that they're two different cultures. Stop trying to compare two different cultures against each other and finding which one is superior. That's like saying Americans are superior to Blacks because Americans are somehow more "sophisticated."
This reminds me, what the fuck happened to that "Simpsons" MMO?
Shut up, we invented humor and we have BETTER humor. Your humor is farting on someone's face and running off going NYAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Our humor is slowly and cunningly convincing the person to allow us to flatulate all over their face before stabbing them in the back and taking their wallet. Like Gork and Mork. One is cunningly brutal, The other is brutally cunning.
Good god, you're slagging off america and ironically you're spelling 'humour' the american way. To be honest I think british comedy's gone way downhill in recent years, just look at BBC3. The only thing we can do right anymore are satirical panel shows Only thing I have against family guy is that they use so many damn obscure references, which particularly non-americans won't get. And also yes family guy, I'm aware of that celebrities existence, stop trying to be edgy
Adult Swim is still just a nighttime part of Cartoon Network, which I find odd that a channel who's primary audience is children would have a nighttime part aimed at adults.
It's the same here with our canadian cartoon network, Teletoon. Teletoon at Night airs shows like Archer, The Dating Guy, Undergrads, Clone High, American Dad, Family Guy, Futurama, etc. Surprisingly, all of those are worth watching although Archer is mehhhh.
good maybe now they'll do more seinfeld reruns on the regular network [editline]16th September 2011[/editline]
They play on social stereotypes, pop culture, and pure free absurd humor. The show is actually a lot more intelligently written then you might think.
This would be a great argument if family guy were funny the only time family guy has ever been funny was when they did an entire star trek episode.
Family Guy is fun to watch after a while.
The new episodes are shit now. They've ruined it, just like family guy.
family guy is hilarious, incoming boxes from people who don't like it for some reason
family guy is hilarious, incoming boxes from people who don't like it for some reason
"Remember the time when I X with Y" *random cutscene* "Here's a sex/fart/pop culture related joke!" *cutscene* "Stupid stuff!" *cutscene* End of episode. THAT'S NOT FUCKING FUNNY
family guy is hilarious, incoming boxes from people who don't like it for some reason
I wouldn't say it's "hilarious" it's somewhat funny but in a more immature way.
You've got to be kidding meeee i can't believe this show is still going. It's almost as old as me.
How does that mean it should be canceled?
Seasons 3 - 12 are the best
And Futurama.
The newest Futurama season is nothing but good 'ol Futurama humor. And the best part is, the show manages to pull off humor without it looking like as if they're trying too hard. Though it also has its fair share of episodes that make you depressed as fuck.
The Simpsons stopped being funny 6 seasons ago
You're 18 years old, so that's like exactly when you hit puberty. Pretty sure everyone stops liking the things they liked before they knew how to use their junk.
Family guy is funny as fuck and entertaining as hell. Maybe it's because you're british, you don't have the same sense of humor as a good ol' fashioned American.
[sp]haha get it guys its a simpsons media macro in a thread about the simpsons am i funny yet[/sp]
I wouldn't say it's "hilarious" it's somewhat funny but in a more immature way.
So, i'm 15 I can be immature if I want.
Guess the simpsons were too liberal for Fox. Family guy's next, I suppose.
Guess the simpsons were too liberal for Fox. Family guy's next, I suppose.
Uhh, News Corp would own the network in the first place. News Corp owns FOX and FOX answers to News Corp. This whole idea isn't even going to start until The Simpsons stops airing.
sweeping generalization of all family guy episodes
oh ok
The idea of Simpsons/Family guy getting a new channel is almost as stupid as the time I ran a bake sale with Nichole Kidman
The idea of Simpsons/Family guy getting a new channel is almost as stupid as the time I ran a bake sale with Nichole Kidman
Almost as stupid as another Family Guy-esque show replacing King of the Hill...oh wait.
The show hit its peak at the 9th season or so and went downhill from there. It's an insult to any fan that the show is still running.
While this idea is certainly terrible, I do really like that parody picture of Abbey Road.
I only ever watch sky for futurama anyway. Unless its one of the older Simpsons, y'know the ones that were actually funny, all the newer ones just feel forced.
Why would I be offended? Some people have a different idea of humor, especially if you're from a different country. This shows you don't understand American Humor. It isn't that fart jokes on their own are funny, it's the fact they are so immature, and absurd, that makes them funny when showed on a show meant for adults. Also the humor isn't centered around farts. It's about absurdity, which is what all humor is about when you get down to it. The funniest scenes aren't the fart jokes: -snipped the Family Guy clips- They play on social stereotypes, pop culture, and pure free absurd humor. The show is actually a lot more intelligently written then you might think.
The point behind your post (which I believe to be "good American humor isn't just a string of fart jokes") is 100% correct. However, your choice of example isn't great. Better examples: The Daily Show (sorry I couldn't find a YouTube clip, none of them were a good upload)
nah, family guy has awful humor
Well I'm just adding Family Guy in there because they need some diversity and they're all intellectual properties of the Fox network, Family Guy is shit yeah :v:
There's a point that this needed to stop, and we've passed that point a long time ago.
