The Simpsons has dropped in quality so much.
Moments like the video below just don't happen anymore :(
No end in the sight. There can never be a ending. At least Duke Nukem Forever got released.
Am I the only one that hates American Dad, Family Guy AND King of the Hill, but still loves Simpsons and Futurama?
Futurama and Simpsons only channel please.
Wow, you make an argument on how good american comedy is and yet you use Family guy as an example. Please, we both know there are better examples of american comedy.
I for one, love 30 Rock.
There are better examples of American comedy. However I am talking about family guy specifically.
And family guy is still one of my favorite American comedy shows simply because, while it may not be the funniest, It has no continuity(I can watch episodes at random), it is long running(most other good comedies only go a few seasons), and it is just plain entertaining. It's something I can just turn on for a few laughs and to burn a half hour.
BTW me speaking highly of family guy doesn't mean I think it's better than Simpsons, Futurama, or King of the Hill.
This would be a great argument if family guy were funny
the only time family guy has ever been funny was when they did an entire star trek episode.
And most of their other episodes. I don't know if there is an episode I don't like, maybe like 1 or 2 max.
Humor is in the eye of the beholder, I'm explaining why I think it's funny.
I admit I find Family Guy funny at times, but it's the sort of funny that just makes you feel empty on the inside. Family Guy is like a comedy prostitute.
Replace american dad with king of the hill and it might be able to make up for family guy being on there.
Nah, replace Family Guy with KoTH. American Dad may also be created by Seth McFarlane, but I personally think it's better of a show than Family Guy ever was.
American Dad may also be created by Seth McFarlane, but I personally think it's better of a show than Family Guy ever was.
Personally, I think that Family Guy at its best was better than American Dad at its best, but American Dad at its worst is way better than Family Guy at its worst.
most of the internet's humour is just a direct bite off of the simpsons, same disregard for all authority, laden with pop culture jokes, and emphasis on memorability.
family guy's humour just takes the simpson's beyond that and adds absurdity.
and i stopped liking KOTH when it stopped being a satire on the boring nature of american life (easy to see considering its creator was the same guy who made beavis and butthead, office space, idiocracy) and started being a mouth-piece for conservatism, hating women, and contempt for young people.

something that i find funny is that if family guy recreated this exact moment everyone would think it's stupid as shit

Err what? When did that happen?
something that i find funny is that if family guy recreated this exact moment everyone would think it's stupid as shit
i count at least 12 times when family guy made the same joke
Err what? When did that happen?
mike judge and the other creator stopped getting involved with the show and the show stopped being less about the flaws of the characters, and became more about the flaws of everyone else with some really formulaic plots.
i saw an episode the other day when it was just a ham-fisted remark against feminism.
i saw an episode the other day when it was just a ham-fisted remark against feminism.
In koth liberal things have always been the cause of many there there problems. So far I haven't seen any difference.
In koth liberal things have always been the cause of many there there problems. So far I haven't seen any difference.
there was a pretty big difference between the earlier episodes and the later ones in the way they dealt with the subject matter.
I still fidn the new Simpsons content great, I don't know why most people feel the need to claim it dead or bad, it's porbably because you grew out of the generation and don't get the younger humor or something, I enjoy all episodes from Season 1 - Present.

There's still good humour in there, but it gets drowned out by a cacophony of obnoxious shit jokes and terrible plots.

The humor is strange at most, and it's hard to understand, it's been funny and strange, I wonder what's going on, but the fucking comedy numbers.....why?
And random chicken fights(I admit that it was epic, but only a obessive fanboy will cream over it)

I like to think this pic sums up how the Simpsons has changed for the worst over the years. That soulless stare.

Things have certainly got a lot more... corporate, y'know? Now it seems so soulless and synthetic.
Where'd the love go, man?
Wow they really didn't even try to put any emotion into the expressions in the new opening.

I hope you people now realise how much over-exaggeration means to animation.

I seriously hate the new computer modelling implement in cartoons.
Family guy is funny as fuck and entertaining as hell. Maybe it's because you're british, you don't have the same sense of humor as a good ol' fashioned American.
[editline]16th September 2011[/editline]
FX stands for Fox Extended. It is owned by News Corp's Fox Entertainment Group. I don't think it would be that hard for News Corp to resign a contract allowing it on a "Simpsons Channel".
im american
family guy is not funny

I'm British.
Family is funny.

I noticed that too. It feels less like a cartoon now, and it makes anything cartoony that happens seem less funny to me.
I don't care what everyone thinks, I still fucking love The Simpsons. Sure, the newer episodes aren't as good, but it's still a fantastic show.
Eh, it's still a great show but... it's missing what made it amazing.
There's just a fuse blown. It doesn't work like it should, like a dulled blade. Still effective, but not as effective as it was.
I wish the current American humor wasn't so shitty. We need more people like George Carlin, Mitch Hedberg, Rodney Dangerfield, etc. to bring back the hilarity to America.
also SNL is still funny imo
nah, family guy has awful humor
Family Guy made an episode about people like you, you, the people who dislike anything that the majority likes just to seem like the smartest guy in the room
Family Guy made an episode about people like you, you, the people who dislike anything that the majority likes just to seem like the smartest guy in the room
And The Simpsons did it earlier where it really was the smartest guy in the room.
No but seriously, a channel with FaG, Simpsons, and Futurama would be pretty awesome, I love watching those shows, they're extremely entertaining
And The Simpsons did it earlier where it really was the smartest guy in the room.
Okay? Where's your point, you couldn't be saying that because he dislikes the majority he's automatically the smartest guy in the room

"i don't find the small amount of things I've watched funny, therefore everything in this ENTIRE country is unfunny"
This is actually a good idea, they have enough episodes to keep a variety and if they put Family Guy and Futurama on there, it'd be amazing.
Family Guy humor is not on par with Futurama or Simpsons humor. King of the Hill.
Simpsons, King of the Hill, Futurama = best station ever.
Good god, you're slagging off america and ironically you're spelling 'humour' the american way. To be honest I think british comedy's gone way downhill in recent years, just look at BBC3. The only thing we can do right anymore are satirical panel shows
Only thing I have against family guy is that they use so many damn obscure references, which particularly non-americans won't get.
And also yes family guy, I'm aware of that celebrities existence, stop trying to be edgy
The Young Ones, my favorite British Comedy.
