I'm just wondering, If we can afford all those bailouts don't you think we could find another way to pay for healthcare without raising taxes? I guess Democrats just love raising taxes.
Whats your point? That everyone who is in poverty is in it due to their own laziness? If that is so, your are so super fucking naive.
no I'm saying the opposite [editline]07:21PM[/editline]
I'm just wondering, If we can afford all those bailouts don't you think we could find another way to pay for healthcare without raising taxes? We're spending money we don't have because, as bad as doing that is, things would be a lot worse if we didn't push more money into the market. Read up on Keynesian economics
Read up on Keynesian economics
shh keynesian is a bad word. free market for the win!
shh keynesian is a bad word. free market for the win!
Reagan good, FDR bad
Read up on Keynesian economics
Read up on Austrian economics.
Read up on Austrian economics.
don't assume I haven't the problem with Austrian economics is that it assumes the market is in any way rational
Fuck the ruling class, they're the ones that got us into this shit.
Read up on Austrian economics.
So when ban all products?
just makin sure everyone reads this post
It is. To say that an individual is incapable of improving their standard of living on their own two feet is both condescension at its peak and just fucking insulting to anyone who was raised in an impoverished setting.
Fuck the ruling class, they're the ones that got us into this shit.
What ruling class? This is a Democracy, not the fucking Dark Ages.
It is.
nope, pretty sure you're wrong [editline]07:31PM[/editline]
What ruling class? This is a Democracy, not the fucking Dark Ages.
the wealthy have much more power than the poor in the U.S. via lobbying and mass media
nope, pretty sure your wrong
So you're telling me I went from a trailer family to the holder of a law-degree not because I am capable of improving myself but for some other reason. You're saying there are people in the world who are just fucking useless, who don't have the ability to improve themselves. Like I said, that's condescending and fucking insulting. I don't think like that. I'm not an elitist prick who thinks there are people who are incapable of improving their standard of living. I think everyone has the capability, albeit not the will, to change themselves and those around them. Maybe you get your jollies by pretending there are people who are below you, but I don't.
the wealthy have much more power than the poor in the U.S. via lobbying and mass media
Obama controls the media. (Or at least they support him)
Genie the wild child couldn't improve herself.
She can talk now. Sounds like improvement.
She can talk now. Sounds like improvement.
But she isn't self-sufficient.
So you're telling me I went from a trailer family to the holder of a law-degree not because I am capable of improving myself but for some other reason.
Not everyone can do the same thing as you. Hard work might have gotten you through, but for most people it's not enough. Lots of people have to work their asses off just to have food to eat each night, don't even mention trying to build a career. It's not that they're lazy, it's just that they don't know how to climb, and they're too busy just trying to get by to figure out how.

You have to know what to work hard at. Working your ass off doing road construction is hard work, but it's a dead end job.
Maybe they should improve their skills and get a job that doesn't pay minimum wage?
Oh yes I'll tell all those single mothers to take some time off and go to college
Maybe they should improve their skills and get a job that doesn't pay minimum wage? You have to know what to work hard at. Working your ass off doing road construction is hard work, but it's a dead end job.
The problem with that though is you need to be accredited by a college to do so, even if they were geniuses our current system disfavors autodidacts.
It is.

nope, pretty sure your wrong
Why can't people ever meet in the middle on this one? It's a combination of personal factors, societal factors, etc., not just a simple extreme of one, the other, or something else. Yes, laziness contributes to poverty. Society also contributes to that laziness. People in low income families are given shitty dietary options that wreck their bodies and make them sluggish. Education sucks, and the media encourages any number of things that are not what one would consider "productive" for youth. We breed people to work easy but menial and low paying jobs- yes, part of it is the fault of the people being forced into it for not trying to fight it, but what do you expect? Not everyone's a hero.
What ruling class? This is a Democracy, not the fucking Dark Ages.
Bull fucking shit. 20% of the population possesses 80% of the wealth in this country. The upper 5% possesses what, 60% of that? Do not try to tell me there is no ruling class in this country. There is nobody in Congress, the White House, or the Supreme Court that wasn't already a multimillionaire when they got in. All of the laws that run this country were created by the ruling class, for the ruling class. So I say fuck them.

Quite a few of the founding fathers grew up quite poor; everything has just become corrupted down the line.
In the spirit of democracy, the democrats won the House by majority vote. Not happy? Win the next election.
But she isn't self-sufficient.
Improvement is improvement. Everyone has the capability.
Not everyone can do the same thing as you. You're saying that I'm not where I am today because of how I BUSTED MY ASS to get here, but because of some fucking invisible advantage you made up? You are full of shit. I got to where I am because I worked. I studied, I researched, and I still bust my ass day by day just for self improvement and understanding. I won't sit here and have anyone tell me that didn't mean anything, that I got here because of some inherent bullshit talent I am lucky to have, [editline]09:56PM[/editline] The only advantage I had was a strong jaw.
Um, not really. Quite a few of the founding fathers grew up quite poor; everything has just become corrupted down the line.
That's kind of the point. So much of what they tried to get away from has come to pass anyway. I'd say about 90% of the country has absolutely no say in how it's run whatsoever. Our votes don't count for anything anymore, both parties are just the exact same shit. Promise whatever it takes to get yourself elected, then forget about all of that and go to work sending taxpayer money to whatever corporate interests helped you buy your way into office. A couple years ago I would have advocated violent revolution, but human nature dictates that the only result would be a different set of faces screwing the lower class for their own benefit.
I can tell you don't work very hard.
hmm
I hate it when liberals use the elitist argument.
we should have a flat tax!! that way all taxes are the same and fair... (even though it would negatively affect the poor to a great extent!)
Tax values affect the poor more harshly then rich people. The Rich need to give a bit so many may have a standard of living. [editline]03:11AM[/editline]
I'd prefer that an equal percentage of everyone's income be used if everyone is going to have equal access to medical care.
Doesn't work as perfectly as you make it out to be.
hmm wait a second still gonna act like you're on that high ground?
he's a furry btw lmao
