Really, and every CEO that has fucked around the last 8 years is serving 150 years in prison? Right?
Well, you said it, so it MUST be true amirite
You can say he did until your blue in the face but unless you PROVE it, it's not holding water
Lankist, I jsut wanted to let you know
You suck at debating.
You REALLY do.
You said CEO's cannot be punished and companies cannot be regulated. They can and have. Madoff just got 150 years and an enormous number of scam artists, ponzi schemers and embezzlers have been prosecuted and sentenced even during Bush's administration. You act as though established laws are not enforced when they are. The title of CEO does not keep a person out of prison.
You move on to imply, however, that unethical practices should be regulated, completely ignoring the idea of the person who gets to define ethical practices.
Furthermore, between "i jsut wanted to let you know you suck" bullshit, you forgot to acknowledge that checks and balances are a two-way street. To apply checks and balances from government to business, you MUST apply checks and balances from business to government. Otherwise it is an UNBALANCED system easily exploited. That's what the fucking term "checks and balances" means. Fucking BALANCE, not "Hey McDonalds fuck you."
How about you find the part enabling the US military to act as a domestic enforcement agency.
What does the executive branch do? Something along the lines of enforce the laws of congress. I'm fairly certain the military does count as executive branch, seeing how the President runs it and all.
As is rich people.
My point is, don't bring out that bullshit argument.
No, that's the job of dedicated enforcement agencies. The DEA, ATF, State troopers, U.S. Marshals, local law enforcement and all of those other ones are dedicated enforcement agencies.
The military is NOT an enforcement agency. They abide by nearly identical rules as the CIA does. They are not permitted to enforce law in the United States, they are not permitted to administer justice in any way shape or form as it is in direct violation to amendments 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. They operate only on foreign soil with the one exception of logistics, tactics and organization. The Military does not have right to information procured and possessed by dedicated enforcement agencies, nor is it permitted to do any form of patrolling, criminal busts, or anything even remotely like policing activity within U.S. borders.
The one and only exception is with Military Police on Military Bases, enforcing only Military Personnel.

Your missing the big point, Executive Branch all has the same power.
It is FORBIDDEN. There is no question about it. This is not a debate. This is fact. The military has no jurisdiction within U.S. borders.

If the military could act as police, why don't they?
I've never seen Marines bust up a drug cartel in the US.
I'm thinking there is some kind of law like Lankist said.
Our government is compartmentalized. The president acts as commander in chief of the military, but that does NOT mean because he has powers in the U.S. means the military does. Fuck, local law enforcement doesn't even answer to the executive branch. They can tell the president to fuck hisself, and California has been doing just that for years.

Five amendments in the Bill of Rights forbid any sort of military action within U.S. borders.
The entirety of the Bill of Rights forbids it based on its context.

Madoff is one of the few, just as Blagoyavich is as well.
It works both ways.
But a CEO title will give you some pretty good protection.
You move on to imply, however, that unethical practices should be regulated, completely ignoring the idea of the person who gets to define ethical practices.
I never said such a thing. My idea is to have a government watchdog over large corporations. That way they can go about their business without fucking over consumers. too much clamp and it hurts the people AND business, not enough, it hurts the people. Basic history will tell you this.
Furthermore, between "i jsut wanted to let you know you suck" bullshit, you forgot to acknowledge that checks and balances are a two-way street. This is what I'm getting at, there is a system, my point is it's getting abused. If you acknowledge that it's the system to use but it receives a lot of abuse, then we agree.

Ehhh, it seems that the people who actually own a copy of the constitution have left this thread.

Everyone I encourage you to go to that link at and least read the preamble and articles 1 - 7.
It is getting late here, and everything of intelligence and importance has already seems to have been said. With this I bid you all adue.

First you say there IS no regulation. Now you say there is and it's abused.
You still aren't acknowledging the fact that, to have a BALANCED system of checks, BUSINESS needs to have an equal amount of sway over GOVERNMENT.
Does this sound like a good idea to you?

If you'd like to assert a point, you need to make a specific reference and a quote.
There is absolutely nothing in the constitution permitting the military's inner-border jurisdiction. In case you didn't realize, the entirety of the Constitution is a list of "The government may NOT." If there is anything that says something may not be done, it MAY NOT be done. Articles 1-7 establish that quite clearly and make no attempt at saying "The government can do this" without first qualifying it with "The government MAY NOT do this."
There are a fuckton of regulations in the Bill of Rights forbidding it.

I am grouping people together. I worked my ass off to get where I am, if you can't do that you are a fucking bum. Everyone has the capabilities that I do, I am not fucking Super Money Jesus. Go ahead, tell me that I had some sort of advantage. That worked out so well for Sigma-Lamda.
First you say there IS no regulation. Now you say there is and it's abused.
First off, I'm talking about currently. Bush had little to none. But the little (Basically laws) had none.
You still aren't acknowledging the fact that, to have a BALANCED system of checks, BUSINESS needs to have an equal amount of sway over GOVERNMENT.
I don't have to acknowledge anything. Because that's bullshit.
Business and government shouldn't be intertwined. Business shouldn't be able to influence in any way, the government. You're trying to group everything together. Government should regulate it self, and government should regulate business. Why are you so defensive about regulating business?
As a libertarian, don't you believe the free market has to regulate it self?
Why not government?
The market regulates itself, and the government isn't part of the market.
Business and government shouldn't be intertwined.
Uhh, they get pretty fucking intertwined when you give government the ability to tell business how to operate based on ethics outside of legal precedence.
Somebody asked a while ago and you never answered: What kind of regulation do you propose? Price Control (in complete defiance to abuse for more tax revenue)?
[editline]11:20PM[/editline]
As a libertarian, don't you believe the free market has to regulate it self?

Because government is fucking incompetent. If a business fails it goes bankrupt and is replaced in a decade.
If the government fails it's all over.
To trust in the competence of our government is the epitome of naivety.

You are one naive person, you know that?
You SERIOUSLY think EVERY single LAST poor person is either stupid and lazy, or choosing to be poor?
I don't believe in luck, but that's really the only way to describe it. Someone like my father who is still poor as hell has worked his ass off, but he's still getting fucked over.
Saying: "I can do, so can you" doesn't work like that.
Welcome to reality. I'm not the only one.

Oh, so you think that the lower class is literally BELOW you, that you are a BETTER human being than they are and they are INCAPABLE of the amazing feats that you accomplish.
Therefore it is your responsibility as a God among Men to lift them from their hovels up into your Godly domain that you simply landed into because you are inherently better than everyone else.
Sorry if I offend you by not being a pompous, arrogant fuck. I know, it's so fucking audacious of me to think I am NOT special, and that I am NOT above anyone. Clearly the logical point of view is to think that YOU of all people are all that is right with humanity.
The market regulates itself, and the government isn't part of the market.
Way to misinterpret.
Uhh, they get pretty fucking intertwined when you give government the ability to tell business how to operate based on ethics outside of legal precedence.
BAWWW, ethics, what a crazy idea.
Somebody asked a while ago and you never answered: What kind of regulation do you propose? Price Control (in complete defiance to abuse for more tax revenue)?
Everything has the ability to be used for corruption. Another problem is, how companies operate. There's way too much operating methods. It's like a ship, there are functions all of over it, so you need to go over each one.
So to ask me specifically which business practice to regulate of EACH industry, is a little too much to ask.
you have to take into account, the industry and each portion of the company.
But price control is somewhat good. As I said, everything has a threat of being corrupted. Every time I propose something, you say "OH! OH! OMG, that can't happen, it can be corrupted, so it's invalid." So by your logic that EVERYTHING can be corrupted, why are we even arguing? Why don't we just have an anarchist society?

Did I say everyone's OPPORTUNITIES are the same?
No. I said everyone's CAPABILITIES are. I started at rock fucking bottom in the American social food chain, I didn't have special opportunities. The only advantage I had was a sturdy jaw.
