I bet. Tell me all about the mystic, Ayn rand. I'd really like to know.
Depends where you want the start. The banal strawman, "she was for the rich, against the poor, and trust-fund babies are to be bolstered on a pedestal" will suffice.
Although you might want to do it in a PM lest we piss off everyone for going off topic.
I am not a slave to the masses.
I didn't want to insult you Lankist. You really come off kind of angry in this thread.
Maybe it's because you called a man who was raised in an impoverished and occassionally abusive environment who now has a gimpy left leg "Tiny Tim" I don't have a gimpy leg because of that, it's just from a motorcycle accident. But calling a gimp tiny tim? that's not very moral.
That doesn't mean I'm about to get into a debate about some lolbertarian god in a health care thread. It's not like I didn't expect someone to call me out on it, with the sheer amount of libertarians on FP.
hahaha lolbertarian
The moment you descent into outright telling an opponent who is still willingly engaged in discussion that you will not engage him on a logical basis is the moment you admit defeat. I'm not saying he's right. I'm saying by telling him that he is wrong and admitting you have no intention to further elaborate why, you are wrong.
no, i'm telling him that he is wrong because he is wrong see lankist, here's your problem. you give far too much of a shit about these internet arguments, you seem to think you have something to prove and that "admitting defeat" (whether actually or imagined in your mind) is a big deal maybe this might be why you have such a callous opinion regarding the lives of other people
Anyway, I am off. THis argument doesn't lead to anything. Not because of the people but because of the nature of the argument itself. I like what is planned.

Great, more communism.
Great more communism.
you get out before you even start
see lankist, here's your problem. you give far too much of a shit about these internet arguments, you seem to think you have something to prove and that "admitting defeat"
It's a game to me.

I win when somebody backs out of the thread.
Is Tiny Tim an insult? If so, sorry. It just sounds like.. well a synonym for the average working class guy.
nah that's joe the homosexual plumber
oh boy, more unnamed sources designed to give justification to your opinion despite the fact i actually deal with the healthcare system and live in the country
Let me ask you this, when you go into cardiac arrest and you're taken into the nearest Canadian hospital, you need a heart transplant or something, do you honestly trust their doctors and their program with your life? You may have needed a few shots, a few examinations but that's simple stuff, I wouldn't call that experience and the people who do go down to the United States, it isn't for either of those, it's for a big procedure.
Great, more communism.
14 year old conservative krew in the house yo where's sam tilgan
Let me ask you this, when you go into cardiac arrest and you're taken into the nearest Canadian hospital, you need a heart transplant or something, do you honestly trust their doctors and their program with your life?
yes, fucking yes. They have government provided health care, they don't hand scalpels to monkeys. They still have medical standards and practices.
And what an appeal to emotion your statement is. Don't get the idea that people have some sort of obligation to each other, just because of what you feel.
fine, you want to live your life thinking that you have no obligation to help or give a shit about anyone else? do you really think you've gotten this far through life without any help? go ahead, live in your glorious objectivist paradise where all of you ubermensch live for yourselves and reject any help that is offered to you fuck the poor, I'm keeping my goddamn money. You have colon cancer and the insurance company refused to cover you? sorry, but my right to buy my wife a designer vagina from the greatest plastic surgeon in the world shall not be infringed, it's what the founding fathers intended
you get out before you even start
Joke: What do you get when greed is obviated?
nah that's joe the homosexual plumber
You called?
Is Tiny Tim an insult? If so, sorry. It just sounds like.. well a synonym for the average working class guy.
Well maybe "Mr. Morality comin to save the poor and downtrodden" should THINK for five seconds before calling his opposition by such insensitive and immoral labels. Also Tiny Tim was the gimp kid in A Christmas Carol. Haven't you EVER read Dickens? You're in a thread about taxation via morality and you've NEVER heard of Scrooge?
Depends where you want the start. The banal strawman, "she was for the rich, against the poor, and trust-fund babies are to be bolstered on a pedestal" will suffice.
Um, are you talking to liberals, or marxists? The latter regard most of her ideas as idealist, and criticize her based on her views of capitalism and the role of capitalists. The more you know. It's ironic though because you're whole argument is one big ad hominem. I guess I really hit a nerve there with that Ayn Rand comment. I'm still waiting for you to give me a good pro-ayn rand argument.
When you start taxing the rich, they're gonna look for somewhere else to live. And they shouldn't have to cover for their medical costs, because this isn't (well, at least it wasn't) a socialist country.
Someone doesn't know what Socialism is.
Lets say I make a hundred million dollars, intent on using it to better my offspring's lives. Would it be right to take a large chunk of that money from my children even though I worked hard to specifically give that money to them?
Well from the article the surtax on people above $200,000 and couples above $250,000 might range from 3 to 3.5%. So lets say you make 100,000,000 dollars and 3.5% is taken for healthcare. That's 3.5 million dollars taken from your hundred million. You still have 96,500,000 dollars left. Let's say you have 14 kids somehow and you split it equally between kids. Each kid gets about 6.8 million dollars. That's more than enough for each kid to live happily as long as he/she keeps the funds in the bank and lives off the interest. 3.5 million out of 100 million isn't that large of a chunk, if the tax was big then I would understand but what their looking at isn't that high at all. Technically my family would be affected as well since we make over the cutoff point and I still think as long as the tax isn't that high it's a good idea. My parents immigrated from a third-world country and they had to work their way to the place we're at. I remember when we barely made enough to stay in a house let alone have many luxuries. I wouldn't mind if we gave back if it helps families like my own who work just as hard if not harder to keep their families under a roof, their kids educated, and food on their tables to have one less thing to worry about. A small contribution could help a family focus on rising in the US rather than trying to pay for health insurance.
Joke: What do you get when greed is obviated?
i don't get it
Let me ask you this, when you go into cardiac arrest and you're taken into the nearest Canadian hospital, you need a heart transplant or something, do you honestly trust their doctors and their program with your life?
You called?
Is that the dude from Ghost Hunters
Well maybe "Mr. Morality comin to save the poor and downtrodden" should THINK for five seconds before calling his opposition by such insensitive and immoral labels.
oh yes i forgot the rule where humanitarians cannot call people assholes because their money is more important to them than the welfare of their fellow human beings
Why should people not pay taxes because they make $300,000+ a year while people who make $20,000 a year do? Democrats have the right idea. Rich bastards deserve to be taxed.
Someone doesn't know what Socialism is.
Socialism sucks.
