The master issues a command, and all the slaves obey. It's not how he's doing it that I'm curious about, it's how they acquired the setup to begin with. He could have made their own (doubtful), or they bought someone elses'.

It's like adding a single protester to a protest. You need them to get anything done, but one guy standing on a street corner holding a sign isn't going to effect any real change.
