That is not a very good war if you can't agree with your own country's ideals.
Doubting your government is good for your country. A bunch of different opinions usually makes for a freer society.
We try to make warfare less barbaric and costly. Now we want to make war a little more barbaric?
That is not a very good war if you can't agree with your own country's ideals.
Like the Germans in World War 2? They thought what they where fighting for was right, as did the American's. Neither side was right or wrong, and killing the other side should not be seen as a game.
I can't wait until there are only robots fighting. Or even better, make video games replace war.
the day where video games=war is where the government holds clan tryouts
We try to make warfare less barbaric and costly. Now we want to make war a little more barbaric?
There's a difference between making it less barbaric and making it casual.
I hate this shit, the Nazi opinion was in no way equal to the Ally's, opinions aren't always equal.
The German soldiers where not all Nazi's, many of them had no idea what was going on behind the scenes
There's something about thinking that a race of people are equal to animals, and lying to your people about the activities going on that seems to invalidate an opinion. [editline]04:28PM[/editline]
The German soldiers where not all Nazi's
So? That doesn't make what they were fighting for whether they like it or not equal to the Ally's
Playstation mentality? GODDAMN TANS.
What's wrong with seeing it as a game...?

So? That doesn't make what they were fighting for whether they like it or not equal to the Ally's
Some Germans supported Anne Frank and her family. Some were even part of The Resistance.
Playstation mentality? GODDAMN TANS.
oh man nostalgia
I can't wait until there are only robots fighting. Or even better, make video games replace war.
Until someone wins the war by getting a 25 kill streak.
Would you rather have them see it as a game, or have plenty of CIA agents and such getting mentally unstable because of the trauma of killing humans?
Since when is "okay to kill" not mentally unstable. Soldiers being desensitized is nothing new. Then we dump them back into the country with no attempt to transition them and then we're surprised when a few of them can't hold a job, or off themselves, or shoot up a grocery store.
In all seriousness, I think that the detachment to killing has many negatives, and some positives. But the detachment to the point where it is just like a game is just wrong. The positives are mostly just less of a psychological impact on the soldier. I feel that drones should be used as surveillance or to attack on known positions of insurgents, or whatever they are calling them now.
I can't wait where there is some game where you can prove to other people you can beat them up without physically harming yourself.
Some Germans supported Anne Frank and her family. Some were even part of The Resistance.
That is true, not all agreed with what was going on, but they still had no choice.
I feel this attitude is already prevalent, at least in the US military - and seeing as people seem to have a short memory around here, that means I get to repost this: http://www.collateralmurder.com/
To be honest the UN is supposed to be keeping world peace, not complaining about unmanned aerial drones that are targeting al Qaeda and Taliban alike.
