he was trying to smuggle fruit punch into our glorious country

They are just ketchup smugglers

You just made my list
He's adorable. Harmless little guy deserves to get through to our dystopian hellhole.
You say he's harmless now, but we've never been able to do a strip search on him. Who knows what he could be hiding

There ought to be a translated version for us Russians out there.
I just played the mini game and that was a very clever way to hint the price. I can't wait for this to be released. I'm happy to see this game get so much recognition.

TOO LATE
I'm exited for the full game just for the sniper/tranq rifles, are they still being included or did he decide to remove them?

Replayed and had no ailments for my family. It actually isn't so bad
I wonder how long this game will be.

Hi again! I have correct passport now!
I just accepted him when he had his made up country passport. Wonder if he's a terrorist.

I don't think a terrorist would be that obvious
Which raises the question, why the hell would anyone want to get into Arstotzka?
yes i know GLORY TO ARSTOTZKA but outside of that joke it'd be nice to see an in-universe reason, perhaps some propaganda.
I'm terrible at this game, my son must have caught every disease in the world and I kept letting in the wrong kind of people because I missed small details.
I'm probably not gonna go for a career within border control

I hope the real game is harder. It started getting tricky near the end, but I still made it through my first time without having anyone in my family be anything but okay. It'll be interesting to see what new challenges they can introduce.

The grass is greener on the other dystopian hellhole.

I imagine that a lot could be
a) refugees seeking a new life
b) word of mouth/propaganda about how great it is
c) previous residents returning back home
d) entrepreneurs wanting to cash in on the country
e) terrorist syndicates wanting to destroy the place

Lesser of evils I assume?

Well they tell you when they come to you (assuming they're a foreigner)
The beta is a suprising amount of fun, and a fun idea.
I have no problems shelling out for a full version. I love indie games so much.

according to the in-game blurbs, before the game started the border had not been open for many years, eight I think, and displaced Arstotzkian citizens are taking the opportunity to return to their homes and families. Job opportunities and visiting friends/family seem to be the major attraction for foreigners. Some of the immigrants' dialogue also suggest that the other countries are similarly dystopian, if not worse than Arstotzka.

i feel like this kind of trivialises the issues in the game. there was a lot of impact the first time there's an attack on the border. adding in a tower-defence element looks a bit silly to me

That's hardly a tower-defense element. Unless you have to buy, place and upgrade multiple weapons like that, it's more of a "shooter element".
I just don't get why they expect the passport agent to neutralize any threats. The guards must be lazy shits

My thoughts exactly. The border is already patrolled by armed guards, letting the booth manager handle the gunning seems unnecessary.

The developer said that you still have to use the key. And chances are it might be buried under a stack of papers and whatnot and you only have a few seconds to find the key, open the lock, and fire. Before the guy throws a grenade.
