Reminds me of that fight club scene with the 24/7 worker where Tyler scares the shit out of him, threatening him into training to be a vet. Maybe now she's had such a shock she'll give up smoking while pregnant and make the unborn kid potentially avoid whatever damage it could have caused. This man is the hero we deserve.
What a hero threatening someone who was pregnant, why bother politely talking to people when you can just pull a gun because as we all know stress and pregnancies go together swimmingly.

By the sounds of this women, I doubt a polite talk would have convinced her to suddenly throw down the fag and quit smoking. I think this man should have gone all out, perhaps get out of his truck and pistol whipped her. I wouldn't want to smoke if some fucker kept pistol whipping me, I mean fuck, that shit hurts.
I thought a woman had a right to her body.
If she is intending to carry it to full term she shouldn't have a right to expose it directly to birth defects. Banning smoking by pregnant women isn't some horrible intrusion on womens rights, it would just hopefully deter idiots from harming their children.

Sure, if they're aborting the child.
But this woman apparently wants the kid but is harming it. They're completely different cases.

She's not the only one it affects. If she's going to have an abortion, sure, but if the child will be born retarded because she's too weak to stop smoking for nine fucking months, then the "right to her body" doesn't apply here

If something can be prevented by common sense, it shouldn't require banning.

Either that comment is that insane that it's funny, or you're trying to be funny.
Stop it.
My Mom is a smoker and mother of 4 children, yet she never smoked during any of the pregnancies.
She said it was easy for her to stop smoking while pregnant.

I'm sure if you pointed a gun at me I'll stop. But until then, I will refuse.
You see? Can you feel the emotions this man must have been feeling, annoying eh? Don't you wish you had some magic thing that would just make people listen if you wave it around in their face. I'm sure we all do. And he did. God bless Amurrika

My mum too! Mother of five though. Always wondered why the fuck she would start again after being clean for almost a year...
I dunno why but the title made me picture this guy

My mom stopped smoking when she got pregnant with my sister (first one), and she never smoked again.
Edit: And my Dad only smokes on occasion, and its 'Churchill' cigars every time, rarely is it a cigarette or a skinny-cigar
I have asthma now because my mom decided to go down that path.
I see this all around Washington. For whatever reason we have an avid amount of smokers and I see a lot of pregnant woman smoking and it pisses me off. Took one of the packs in a chicks hand and tossed them, it makes me sick to see them ruin the life of there child.
I can confirm this.
Washington State is filled with pregnant women who smoke.
Coincidentally, most of the pregnant women who smoke around here seem to be between the ages of 16 and 25. And there are a lot of them on the lower end of the spectrum.
In related news, I'm moving to Bellingham in less than 10 days, to go to uni up there. :v:
Facepunch Logic: Abortion should be legal because it's the woman's body, but she's not allowed to decide if she can smoke or not.
Obviously there's arguments in every direction and you'll never get this one settled. Personally I think since she's deciding to give birth to the child she has a responsibility to give it the best prenatal care possible.
I see it as this
Abortion: the baby didn't really have a life to ruin
Smoking: the baby WILL suffer, and have a rough life
I actually agree with they guy. I have a close friend whose mum smoked (and drank) while she was pregnant with her, causing damage to part of her brain making it sometimes hard to learn things. It's not something that you notice but sometimes she'll not really understand something in class. I was talking to her once and she broke down crying and I felt really bad for her.
If I ever saw someone doing this I'd go out of my way to tell them to stop.
Why the hell isn't drinking/smoking illegal during pregnancy anyway?
This reminds me of all the horrible mother-to-be's I've seen on the bus.
Honest to god, if you don't give a shit about your child why try to have a baby?
Although the pulling the gun on her was really fucking stupid, what exactly was he planning to do?
Quitting smoking while you're preggers can harm the fetus and in extreme cases cause a Miscarriage, So sometimes doctors actually advise chain smokers and what not to keep smoking but try and tone it down as much as possible without causing stress.
That's got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever read. Got a source on that? If you don't, me and(hopefully most) others will call bullshit on that.
It's Bellingham, I'm not surprised.
they're both retarded
5'6 is still so small. My mom smoked during her pregnacy and I turned out fine. Hell, I was almost 6'1 at 15. I'm 19 now and about 6'3.
6'5, and neither my mum or my dad smokes. I bloody win.

"Pregnant woman, my friend, you're entering a world of pain. You take another puff of that and you're entering a world of pain."
All the dude really needed to do was destroy the pack of cigarettes.
Maybe slap her if she didn't get the point but I think she might have gotten it without the gun.
