Billboards shun religion, promote separation of church and state

But guys. I think the main cause of this idea of "religious people need to keep to their own business" is kind of generalized to every religion. There are some like. WBBC who go around screaming shit like that. But as the bible defines a Christian, they aren't 'Christ like' at all. We SHOULDN'T push ourselves on others beliefs! that's the core concept yet people will still miss that and make every Christian look bad when the VAST majority don't act like that at all. They just get attention through the media so then people make stereotypes of Christians and eventually make the connection that the majority of religious people are like that.
I have had SO MANY run ins with situations with people when they are sad and really depressed. For example.
One of my friends was really depressed and was thinking about how different the world would be if she wasn't here. (you know, suicide?) I was able to talk to her like saying "I know your think your life is so bad right now. If something bad happens to me, I always know I have support through God and you don't have this. so even if it is just a mental state for me and not real, it DOES help so much! I just wan't you to know that you aren't alone. So many people have gone through worse than what you are feeling right now. And if you keep that in your head I guarantee you will get out of this rut. (that is a Christian saying that 'Jesus has gone through whatever you are going through')"
and she was like "OMG yes! Thank you! You are right, I don't have the kind of support you do... I don't really know what to do about religion or what I believe in yet..." (and then after this talk she hasn't been depressed ever since.)
So sometimes it helps people! This girl was contemplating suicide and I sort of helped her with what I believe in.
But then you get the crazy ass holes who want to convert mass amounts of people at one time yet they don't know that's the exact opposite what they should be doing.
What I think is that some atheists see maybe some of their friends be converted or a threat to being converted and they turn into the ass hole ones who would put up billboards.
that's just my thoughts on this.
(Also, I love how my spell check corrected 'ass holes')
and this the same can go for atheists! they get generalized when just a few crazy people make it on the news or in the media! flip flops both ways.

I've seen kangaroos that jump around less than this post
Just shut up and respect each others beliefs and disbeliefs.
Let's hug :3:

No true Scotsman.
I have had SO MANY run ins with situations with people when they are sad and really depressed.
So have I.

I can one up you on that. When I first met her, my girlfriend was suicidal, drug addicted, abused by her parents, and raped and tried to kill herself on multiple occasions. I've brought her back without mentioning religion once.
So sometimes it helps people! This girl was contemplating suicide and I sort of helped her with what I believe in.
Yeah, and this girl lived a Hell-on-Earth and tried to kill herself multiple times and I've saved her without religion at all. Its simply psychology.
I wrote more for the rest, but I'll leave it off for now.
Don't forget the one or two "hardcore" Atheists with a superiority complex who go on about how evil religion is and how anyone who don't agree with them needs to be euthanize.
Shame, it only takes a few Ahole Christians or Ahole Atheists to set up a stereotype for whole group of people.
[editline]02:19PM[/editline]
That I have to agree with.
Oh Shit I going to be euthanize.
This is just as bad as a billboard saying "Repent, repent! Find the Lord or suffer for eternity!"
fukken joined

lol?
"There are other atheists/separation of church and state is a good thing" = flaming
I think he ment that the billboards seem spitefull. I have no problem with a billboard promoting seperation of church and state but putting up things that seem to be hatefull in nature does nothing but promote opposition.
In other news: three dead from alcohol poisoning at a giant Facepunch party.
Where do I donate?
Also to these who hate "Praise Darwin" poster, it's a joke, they do not actually mean to praise him...
I think it should be like this:
1) Religious people practice their religion freely, without making any efforts to discriminate or violate another person's rights. Only speaking out if their rights are trampled on.
2) Atheists just don't believe in religion and let the religious go about their business, unhindered. Only speaking out if any rights are being violated or discrimination is being spread.
If only it would work.

The main problem with this is that most religions have taken up the whole "If anyone else isn't my religion, I need to try and make them." As a resident of the bible belt, I know that I get asked to go to church by people I don't even know.
In my school, they put up fliers about "The Student's Bill of Rights", saying kids can pray in school, kids can read their bible (NOTE: It said nothing about any other holy book), and had 1 big golden cross at the top. It's everywhere you go, and it's just small, subliminal ways of pulling the "Jesus is watching you" shit.
Also, one of my teachers has a "modernized" 10 Commandments poster, with more casual words, so you don't even realize that's what you're reading until you're done.
God damn jesus is a pedo, watching underage people fap.
This is quite possibly the most baffling case of "Not knowing what the fuck he's talking about" that I have ever seen.
Here's the thing about abortion: People who see abortion as bad see it as murdering babies. Them seeing abortion happening is like whitnessing murder on a grand scale of those who can't defend themselves. It's not like "Oh I don't like this brand of milk, I'm not going to buy it" it's more like "Holy shit, these crazy people are murdering babies! We have to stop them!". And the LGBT thing, the christian right sees them as abominations and MUST stop them if they want a world free of sin so that they can be saved. It's not like they can just let bigons be bigons with these people as not doing anything means you are a fence sitter and will literally be trapped in purgatory after death. They also see it as a disgrace to the "sanctity of marriage" (even though brittney spear's 2 hour wedding fucked that up harder) and an attack/perversion of their values.
At least TRY to see it from the opposition's perspective, otherwise it makes you sound like a complete prat.
These kinds of descriptions sound like something to come out of a schizophrenic's head, because that's pretty much what religion is. Bullshit. Now that's not knowing what one is talking about- having faith in, for example a shit book full of quotes that was translated and altered many times without any basis.
Ooh, this isn't going to end well. Whatever, if people get to put up "Praise God" billboards, then people can put up "There is no God" billboards.
I must say, at first I was concerned it was going to be an offensive campaign of posters.
How I must say that it's more a message of convincing people to investigate and contemplate it. That's very good, it's about time that sort of challenging thinking get's a public voice.

Then how am I wrong?
Incoming bandwagon of angsty religious teens hating on Atheism.
Atheism: "Atheism is commonly defined as the position that there are no deities. It can also mean the rejection of belief in the existence of deities. A broader definition is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist."
Religion: "an institution to express belief in a divine power; 'he was raised in the Baptist religion'; 'a member of his own faith contradicted him'"
Atheism lacks any form of theological beliefs, therefore, it is not a religion. It's more of a philosophy.

well herp-de-fucking-derp
Same thing happens with a lot of atheists.
people who rate this dumb are athiests that overreact
on topic though, i honestly don't care if athiests put up the billboard. it's their right. if you take it down your infringing on their freedoms. Just let the athiest do their thing. (im christian btw but i don't give a fuck what other people believe and all that nor do i try to enforce my belief onto people)

Unless you're a non-denominational Christian, you are willingly choosing to associate with people who DO try to push their beliefs on others.
It's like showing up at a Klan rally and then trying to say that you're not a racist even though everyone else there is. If you don't want to appear to be a racist, don't show up at the Klan rally.

Ok, now Zeke, that is just a "guilt by association" logical fallacy. It doesn't necessarily make them an active part of the group. If someone goes to a Furry Convention or a Gaming Convention, it doesn't make them a furry or a gamer. A spectator may see that person and their prejudice would immediately group that person in to the category with the others. It doesn't make it true, its just a prejudice.
I for one welcome our new billboard overlords.

I never said the person is actually guilty of anything, I said they should expect to be generalized and maybe not get uptight when it happens.
If someone is really sensitive to being called a furry, they shouldn't go to a furry convention.
If someone is really sensitive to being accused of shoving their religion down other people's throats, they shouldn't associate with a denomination of religion.
When I walk down the street with a metal t-shirt and long hair certain people are going to generalize me as a satanist, or someone who's up to no good, or someone who's stupid. But I get why these generalizations exist, I deal with them, and I don't lead a crusade to try and stop them. A lot of religious people fail to do this and they develop a rather annoying persecution complex.
convert them to communism

You say this as if every single Christian pushes their beliefs.
You say this as if every single Christian pushes their beliefs.
Read my other post, I'm saying that when you choose to associate with a group you should expect to be generalized with them. I never said the generalizations are accurate.
Finally something to combat the "JESUS IS LORD" Billboard in my town.
I find Atheists are more annoying than Christians mostly.
All the ones I've encountered were completely nice.
