What if they just mention the word sour? That always gets my mouth watering.
No matter how hard I try, I cannot decipher what you mean at all. What?
There's an article about a boy possibly being the only person in the world who suffers from this abnormality and half the posts are 'yea, I'm like that too.'
I'm not saying I have the same thing. The kid is much worse off being unable to feel hunger at all. I still get hungry, but have trouble acting on it until it gets very bad.

Maybe we should force feed you.
Not like hunger in Iowa is even a problem. The entire state is basically a giant cornfield pockmarked with little crop circle cities.

I think he means that he very much enjoys sour food, so mentioning them makes him hungry.

I thought it was a joke that sour food makes your mouth water, but either way if it were a joke it has since been murdered. I make no apologies.
What if the kid is just anorexic?
What if the kid is just anorexic?

Anorexia nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that makes people lose more weight than is considered healthy for their age and height. Persons with this disorder may have an intense fear of weight gain, even when they are underweight. They may diet or exercise too much or use other ways to lose weight.
Anorexia is NOT "not feeling the urge to eat."
Bribing kids to do things always works. They should bribe him to eat, maybe tell him that if he eats they'll give him all the ice cream and candy he wants.
Ive had the same to some extent. But i knew i had to eat because if i didn't, i would faint. But no, i didnt really feel hunger.
how come this little bastard lives for 12 year if he drink and eat nothing he must be fucking dead already
I remember an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition about a kid with the opposite problem; never feeling full. The parents had to reinforce the fridge because of him going to the fridge and pigging out. Both stories are really sad, and I hope this kid pulls through.

It takes a special mind to read an article so selectively.
He only developed this disorder after having a (probably unrelated) infection in his lung. It's been a bit less than a year since he's had the disorder.
People in this thread sympathizing with the kid because they experience the same symptoms, when in actual fact, they're too fucking lazy / addicted to the PC to get off their asses and go and eat.
I remember when I was 12 and addicted to WoW, I'd never eat until my stomach hurt because I didn't want to leave the PC. I doubt you all have serious issues.
It's no fun like this and is what's currently ruining my exercising.
There's just nothing interesting in food, it tastes good for a second but so does a cig' and it's cheaper.
When I was a kid I'd only eat half the plates served morning and for dinner 'cause I'd get disinvested in it so quickly.
does he feel full or what? can he like, enjoy food? I mean I eat when I'm not hungry all the time just cuz food be tastin delicious nigga. But if it's like when you're full and you just DO not want to eat, then shit, that sucks.
I've got Crohn's disease since a few months back and don't really feel hunger anymore. I can, and do often, feel full, but never hungry. What he has is probably much more severe, but I can relate somewhat.
I know it is used for people on chemo who lose their appetite. It helps with desire for food and helps nausea.
Although I expect they exist, I don't actually know of any other drug that promotes appetite. If nothing else we can assume that any other drug that does promote appetite is unlikely to do so in such a safe manner.
Not that this is really a long term solution. Being faded 24/7 isn't going to help.
You don't need to be stoned 24/7 to get munchies, all it takes is small dose before lunch and you should have increased appetite. There are already some medical cannabis products that are safe for children to use but I'm not sure if those increase appetite like the real thing.
i have eaten many many times when i didn't feel any hunger at all, this kid should be able to as well
I don't even like sour food more than most people. But whenever I see sour skittles or sour punch or pretty much any other sour candy, my mouth starts watering without even eating them. Hell, just thinking about them makes my mouth water.
I think it's like a trained response or something like that. I blame advertising and wrapper design.
do...
do you guys not have that

A conditional response to a conditioned stimulus! Introduction to psychology is paying off.
Anorexia is NOT "not feeling the urge to eat."
He could be faking not having a sensation of hunger to avoid the social stigma of anorexia.
Hell, he has a history of seizures, so the kid's brain probably ran the areas around the hypothalamus into a minor state of overexcitation and possibly dopaminergic death
Yeah, I liked that show about doctors, too.
Except for the last week I hadn't felt hunger in about a month and half, and it really worried me. Obviously nothing like this guy though, I'm pretty sure psychology was something to do with my lack of eating, but regardless of what the cause was it's extremely scary knowing you haven't eaten in ages and not knowing when you can next stomach it (I used to gag when I attempted to eat). My heart goes out to the kid and his parents and I hope he gets better
as a parent you really have to do all you can to teach the child you need to eat to survive.
I assumed this meant the boy felt ill when he ate, but this is definitely some kind of psychological problem that the kid needs to realise, he's not a baby.
I dunno, I personally think a 12 years old should be able to comprehend the fact that you need to eat and drink to, ya know, not die.
Adults can easily starve themselves to death if they run into a loss of appetite. The thing is, you need to create a stable regimen of when to eat, what to eat and actually make sure to keep it in check. It's easy to just forget.
It for sure could stem from a mental thing. Depression causes the constant feeling of not wanting to eat. He might have something like that, but on a more permanent (hopefully not) basis. Only speculation from experience with depression.

Get hookworms, see if it helps.
