Apple blocks jailbreaking despite judge declaring it legal
what people don't realize is that they didn't block it just because of jailbreaking, it was also a security exploit that could've let people using said exploit to control another persons iPod/iPhone. Instead of people going "FUCKIN APPLE WHY THEY BLOK JAILBREAKING EVEN THOUGH ITS LEGAL????? :downs:" actually read the article.
Are you high
Wow, terrible title OP. This wasn't about jailbreaking at all. The bug they fixed was a very serious flaw that could have been used maliciously.
If you're cool with allowing any website with a maliciously crafted PDF to take full control of your iPhone, then go for it. Just because JailBreakMe didn't do anything malicious, doesn't mean there won't be a PDF out there that pwns your phone.
And just because jailbreaking is legal doesn't mean Apple has to make it easy to do. Hell, unlocking a GSM phone is legal in the US but when I bought a used phone on ebay T-Mobile wouldn't give me the unlock code because I wasn't the original buyer. So I bought an unlock code online.
This right here. Did you people really expect them to leave a major security hole open? Just because the Jailbreak wasn't using the exploit
maliciously doesn't mean its safe to keep open.
To purchase an Apple product is like purchasing a car with the hood welded shut.
Are you high
Are you high? This was a serious exploit which could allow hackers access to your phone.
Q: What could such a worm do on my phone?
A: Anything. It could do anything you can do on your phone, and more. So it could destroy or steal all of your data. Track your location. Spam your friends. Listen to your phone calls. Dial the presidents of every country in the world. Anything. And you would pay for all the charges it would create, too.

This latest patch will prevent JailBreakMe from working, but will also close a potential vulnerability that, if exploited, could have given an attacker access to the device.
that's why
winterboard
:frown:
fuck Apple
Redundant Acronym Syndrome Syndrome.
WINE Is Not an Emulator
That is fuckin mental. If I bought the Iphone, I am going to do whatever the fuck I please with it. If I want to jail break the bitch I am going to do it. Once the things are in the possession of the public, Apple has no right to tell people that they cant run certain apps on the phones. Fuck you steve, shove it up your panzy ass
WINE Is Not an Emulator
That's a recursive acronym, not a redundant one. However, if someone called it a "WINE Emulator", that would be redundant.
FYI they patched a big exploit that could be used to do bad things.

i am... i live in holland so it's legal :D.....
dots are awesome............!!!!!

I was referring to second part of his post.

The AIDS
A judge declared jailbreaking legal. He never said Apple couldn't stop patching it up. It doesn't effect the average consumer nor Apple, just the jailbreak developers. They can't get sued for releasing the jailbreaks.
I'm on a second gen iPod touch on 3.0 still.
The only downside is YouTube subscriptions don't work. Or some apps.
Just because a judge declared it legal doesn't mean Apple can't get rid of it
They just can't sue because of it now. They still have all right to lock it down as much as they want. Even if that includes "blacklisting" the phone.
Most of the people in this thread are dumb, Apple isn't saying it's illegal for you to do it, They are just preventing you from trying it again. Of course they don't want you to use there hardware for other then what they made it for.
If you can still jailbreak your phone then it's fine, But apple is still allowed to patch it.
I don't see a reason to jailbreak my iphone so i'm good
The PDF exploit is not just for jailbreaking. It is a serious security threat and its a no brainer that Apple would patch it.
Apple Products. :v:
Why bother Jailbreaking?
They suck either way
I dislike the title of this article, considering the fact that even if it's legal apple has every right in the world to make it as difficult as possible for their phones to be jailbroken despite the legal status of the act. It's their product, even if it is a dick move. They did it to cover up a security exploit anyways. No i don't like apple products.
Apple Products. :v:

Because you get programs you couldn't get otherwise.

I used to think that way until I got an ipod touch.
It's worth every penny.
Now you don't need a:
Handheld gaming system
Flashlight
Mp3 Player
Calender
Phone (possibly)
eBook reader
etc.
Sure, it was a great way to jailbreak, but people could send a malicious PDF document, installing a virus that could take your personal data, and potentially brick your iOS device.

does it matter? people look at apple products the wrong way. you don't look at them by specs. you look at them by performance. you look at them by..well, personally.
Dick move apple........dick move.....as usual
I've never jailbroken my ipod yet I want to do it but I want one that can just download full games for free off of the app store. Is that possible?

No, it's not possible, and that's pirating.
