is there some sort of collective paranoia kool-aid I missed out on? They change a tiny, inconsequential part of their game which has zero effect on anything other than the pose itself and everybody loses their fucking minds?? who the fuck caressssssss
read my post above you. 3rd line
The main point was that the sexualization in the pose didn't reflect Tracer's character.

tbh his entire point relies on the mentality that "It's an ass therefore its sexual"
I mean yeah the butt is pronounced by the tight cloths but what the fuck how is that really... sexual, really?
a covered ass is only as sexual as you make it. There is a blatant line on what is sexualized and what isn't, as well as what is a male / female power fantasy
boobies are only sexual when you make it sexual
if we're going by his logic however this is sexual
it doesn't matter anyway if only because yellow tights are a terrible choice

I don't think you understand the true gravity of this situation. An sjw complained and got their way. Next thing you now, the sjw fascists will force all western woman into burkas and get the UN to ban all video games.

It's the censoring and immediate surrender to accusations of sexism that pisses me off, not what's being censored.
The post from the Blizzard employee is a tacit affirmation that their artist's work is sexist and demeaning. It's profoundly insulting.

if they made a sexy character and then decide they don't like that aesthetic then who are we to bitch and moan when they change it?? they're just adjusting something to fit better with their vision and if it takes someone making a whiny post to point that out to them who cares?? The idea that this is censorship is laughable and completely detracts from the seriousness of actual censorship. i think niandralades said it best that ppl seem to support the idea of developers doing what they like except when they don't agree with it or see it as part of something bigger they disagree with, and then it becomes a big problem because ppl can't seem to stand not being 100% right al lthe time

I think this is his main point:
My main complaint is that there is no facet of tracer's silly/spunky/kind personality in the pose. It's just a generic butt shot. I don't see how that's positive for the game.
He doesn't think it's bad because it's sexual, he thinks it's bad because it adds nothing to the character. You could replace every mention of sex and sexuality in the original post with "boring" and "uninteresting" and the main point would still come across.

You're missing the point that the catalyst was one person complaining and the response was a fear of being labeled as sexist, not because the developer changed it because of second thoughts.
Also a lot of people care so...

i haven't seen a butt in weeks, thanks blizzard
where did blizzard fear being labeled sexist or are you assuming that based on the fact they changed it??

Really? You know where I could get a cheap burka at then, my man? I found one on Amazon for like 59 bucks. Prices like that should be pure haram.

a developer clearly and emphatically states that they're removing something because someone complained it was sexist
and that somehow translates to "they made a sexy character and then decide they don't like that aesthetic" in your mind?
also so what it was one person, it only ever takes one person to suggest something and for the developers to go 'hey thats not a bad idea' and then implement it
i haven't seen a butt in weeks, thanks blizzard
As an ass man myself, this move by Blizzard disturbs me greatly.
What's next, Symmetra's Kali skin? Reinhardt's sexy grandpa skin? Bastion's really suggestive voicelines?
Think of the hypothetical children, this is a 12+ rated game.
On one hand, I can somewhat understand the outrage considering the recent trend among game devs.
On the other hand, it was in the end, independent of who bitched about it, Blizzard's decision to make, and it's just one ass of many, so I'm just gonna roll with it for now.
Call me when they deflate Widowmaker's ass into some sort of reversed booty.

just as likely, or even more likely that it didn't fit with their decided aesthetic for the character since they said they don't want them to be 'misrepresented' so yeah it does translate like that
This is very relevant.

I guess to appease that person about people being skinny they could always change the character into something like Violet Beauregarde and have her roll around like a pinball.
It would be interesting from a game design point of view.
Still. Who cares? That person is skinny and another person is fat. Why make a fuzz about it, if they wanted to control their weight they would.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that the thing that people are actually of afraid of is happening, developers removing and altering their games to appease a tiny minority of moral guardians.
You know, the thing you mock and belittle people for being upset by.

I think you missed the point of the post completely
People don't want developers censoring their games to appeal to a loud and obnoxious minority of guilt tripping moralizers.
If it was their original intention to not have this pose in the game, it wouldn't be in the game in the first place.
This is very relevant.

Okay, I totally respect your opinion and what that user is trying to say - some of it makes some pretty valid points, but other parts feel like huge over-reactions.
Like this is Blizzard! Have you seen any of their previous games? They're FULL of conventionally hot women. A good chunk of females in Hearthstone have huge titties usually held in with something quite skimpy :v:

Removing one pose is not the same as every female character being removed and toned down, I'm sorry.
I looked at some of Overwatch's other designs and look at this strong cutie:

And dang look at her

etc etc etc

(and i'll quickly add, i have no problem with any of these characters or game developers having hot women - although variety is always nice)
also so what it was one person, it only ever takes one person to suggest something and for the developers to go 'hey thats not a bad idea' and then implement it
Did you just read the title and then start shitposting? A ton of people already explain that yes people do care and there is a reason why it was concerning that it only took one person for it to change. Please go read the posts on the first page of this thread.
If a ton of Overwatch players petitioned for it to get removed then nobody would be complaining.

how could you possibly paint this as anything other than capitulation to someone's demands for censorship
he literally says "we're sorry", you're being delusional if you think this is just the team getting together and changing something that happened to sail through development unnoticed
i have read the thread and i can tell you that my point stand, it only takes one person to make a suggestion that the devs feel should be implemented. you could have 1000s of ppl asking for free cards in hearthstone and that wouldn't sway blizzard but only one person needs to suggest that the colour of a single button should be changed to match the others and they'd do it.
its such a tiny deal i feel like im taking crazy pills just posting about how it is such a nonissue
I think you missed the point of the post completely
Probably. Still. I'd love to hear what you think it means.

I'm not upset that Blizzard's games have been stripped of scantily clad women, because as you've clearly demonstrated that isn't the case.
I'm upset that Blizzard immediately surrendered to the demands of a lone whiner without even bothering to offer any sort of defense on the part of the people who made the game.

can we just step back and look at how stupid the use of 'censorship' is here? i mean there are people throughtout the world who don't have the ability to read a free press and your sitting here bitching about a change to a 3d ass. cmon man.
'we're sorry' that you pointed out we did something that wasnt quite as we had intended so we changed it = literally censorship

maybe because there was nothing they thought needed defending dude

if you can think of another word for "removing content based on the basis of it being objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient", then by all means, I would love to hear it

um they are the people who make the game??
