wait what the fuck is the point of this
hello soviet russia 2
they're going to invade the baltics next
Stalinist actually, Lenin didn't have as much of a problem with homosexuals (at least for, y'know, the 1910s), and actually repealed some of the Tsar's old anti-gay laws until Stalin reimplemented them with a considerable vengeance.
wow russia didn't realize you were really that much of a homophobe
...and there went any plans I ever had of visiting Chernobyl. Fuck you Russia.
...and there went any plans I ever had of visiting Chernobyl. Fuck you Russia.
Well, that's Ukraine. Equally homophobic state, but a different country, you know.
The lack of Russian FPers in this thread is concerning me... :tinfoil:
Well, that's Ukraine. Equally homophobic state, but a different country, you know.
Eastern Europe in general seems to be pretty homophobic in my experience.
The anti-propaganda law introduces fines of up to 5,000 rubles [$156] for citizens who disseminate information ‘directed at forming nontraditional sexual setup’ or which may cause a ‘distorted understanding’ that gay and heterosexual relations are ‘socially equivalent.’
And then if we just do some tweaking...
The anti-propaganda law introduces fines of up to 5,000 rubles [$156] for citizens who disseminate information ‘directed at forming nontraditional racial setup’ or which may cause a ‘distorted understanding’ that black and white relations are ‘socially equivalent.’
We get Rassenschande and other anti-miscegenation laws!
Though unless Ukraine adopts a similar law, gays shouldn't fear getting arrested.

lenin was a fairly faithful leftist, and the "free love" movement had been hanging around the left for a long time. free love was/is mostly about getting rid of marriage, but more broadly it means that the issue of sexuality and love isn't really the domain of the state at all. it follows that lenin, even if not a sex radical, would at least be somewhat sympathetic or even just pragmatic about issue of deviant sexuality.
wow you can literally get banned for having a different opinion. this is a forum lol
wow you're only just noticing that you can get banned for being racist/homophobic after 6 years on this forum
not very attentive i guess
wow you can literally get banned for having a different opinion. this is a forum lol
We don't tolerate Homophobia and Racism here
We don't tolerate Homophobia and Racism here
well not overt, blatant homophobia or racism. i'v seen some racist posts before that seem to get ignored since "they aren't that racist." if you support bell curve sorta shit, and can articulate it clearly, you can get away with borderline racist comments all day. if you just think gays should be put in jail, you are banned.
Well, that's Ukraine. Equally homophobic state, but a different country, you know.
Not equally homophobic at all. We don't have laws against "gay propaganda" and the like
The lack of Russian FPers in this thread is concerning me... :tinfoil:
Hey.
Ezhik here - a Russian facepuncher.
Like a good citizen, I always stand by my country's decisions.
Putin is a good president and I wouldn't wish for anyone else.
My country does everything for a good reason.
Edward Snowden is here, so clearly we are a good, safe place.
Eastern Europe in general seems to be pretty homophobic in my experience.
You'd be surprised. I can't speak for all the Eastern European countries, but Estonia is quite open about it. People don't give too much of a damn about what who is. A lot of my friends are openly gay; I was actually surprised the concentration of homosexual people was such as it is when I first got ~social~
Then of course, there's Finland and Sweden, the world capitols of homosexuals, right across the gulf, and our tourism is sort of intertwined - they rely on us for extremely cheap booze and we enjoy their entertainment.
snipping
because i'll be flamed again
"Russian president Vladimir Putin has passed a draconian law that calls for the arrest of anyone who is openly gay or supportive of gay rights." - What good reason could there be for this?
it's a joke, a bad one i guess, but a joke. i just made it so that sentences spell out "help me", while saying something supportive, in reference to the human rights oppression that's happening in many countries including mine and what measures some people have to resort to just to send their message.

Although this is true, he did also write this, although it's more about a disliking of anarcho-communism and overly-fragmented Communist parties.
wow you can literally get banned for having a different opinion. this is a forum lol
If you're an asshole you get banned, if you hate gays then you're an asshole, pretty simple really.

that's why i included pragmatism in my explanation. no matter lenin's relationship to other leftists, he was also incredibly pragmatic. hell, i'v heard leninists simply described as "those with the desires and methods to win". if it helped solidify power or pacify resistance, lenin would be all over it, even if it might go against marxist tradition.
[editline]14th July 2013[/editline]
and i believe that book was mostly written as a critique of all the people on the left criticizing the bolshevik party since bolshevism was actually very fringe even by a lot of leftists standards. lenin was an authoritarian and authoritarians tend to hate to be called out.
Well that's complete bullshit, but I am not surprised. Everybody is a homophobe here. Because lol trodox traditions gods gonna fuck you.
wow you can literally get banned for having a different opinion. this is a forum lol
wow you can literally get arrested for being gay in russia. that is a country lol
Can you even really do that? I dont see how you can arrest tourists without getting shit from the country they came from.
As long as they do something illegal by your criminal code....
The only ones with immunity are diplomats and the only thing you can generally do with those is set them up as a persona non grata or ask their nation to remove their immunity.
Orthodox church is such a backwards piece of shit it's not even funny

But Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway isnt Eastern European countries.
wow you can literally get banned for having a different opinion. this is a forum lol
that is exactly why you can get banned for having a different opinion. Facepunch/forums in general do not have to abide by any free speech/human rights laws because they're a private entity
blatant discrimination generally isn't tolerated. Deal with it or go elsewhere, basically.
Ok, I know Russia wasn't the best place in the world but what suddenly made them decide to go back to the 17th century?
I can feel the diplomatic repercussions already.
"yeah we arrested one of your citizens and threw him in jail because he's gay kthnxbye"
You can't talk about anything relating to gay in russia and gay / pro gay tourists can be arrested
Jesus Christ I wonder how many people want this for America. Ignoring something only makes it worse, it doesn't magically go away, come on.
[editline]14th July 2013[/editline]
how do you even grow up so ignorant and oblivious that you believe this is a good idea ASIDE from psychotic disorders.
Like, what happens? How are gays demonized this horribly? How can you end up hating people that literally have don't nothing and it doesn't actually harm anyone?
Ok, I know Russia wasn't the best place in the world but what suddenly made them decide to go back to the 17th century?
Technically the 20th century.
