I still think the Chargers are the best looking. The locals here are rolling out the 2013s with a new decal job:

The university here uses the Taurus with a really nice decal job, which is a good all-rounder:

And then, you have the Caprice PPV, which my hometown got right before I decided to move...

Checkered paint? I didn't know you could get buckets of tartan ready to go.
You'll find they're just stickers or vinyl transfers anyway.

They went out of business supposedly because they failed to get a DOE grant after delaying the thing for years. It had a lot of problems (cost, mainly - they can't be gutted for equipment and can't be auctioned at EOL) that prevented it from becoming ubiquitous, which would have been the only way it would have survived.

Every constabulary has different vehicles in it's fleet BMW is the most common traffic car but it's not the only one in use, that Vauxhall is a Panda car, used for getting cops from A to B not for pursuits.

With specs like that, it will definitely give the Taurus a run for its money. :v:

It's a practicality thing in the UK, the reflective grid/stripe patterns are there to make it really obvious that it's a police car, same with some of the uniforms.

They paint em exactly the opposite here where I am.
Heh, more times than not I'll be driving down the highway at night and I won't see a cop because he's literally hiding in the grassy median with his fully jet-black car.
Do you guys dyno your cars? The street SHO is supposed to make ~365hp and ~400tq, but i'd imagine the police interceptor is beefed up.
We do not. The PI is the same as the SHO with minor differences. It still has the 3.5L V6 w/ Ecoboost that puts out 365hp.

That car was a train-wreck of financial problems. It failed to get a grant to start producing which was the real reason it disappeared from Carbon Motors, but really they were charging something like $150,000 a car. which no department can afford.

That would have included really unnecessarily frills (biological weapon sensors, radioactivity detectors) which were optional. I say "unnecessary" while some friends of mine would justify the price of such a network of sensors against the cost of an actual attack, but the issue is like you stated - when presented with an offer of $150k from Carbon and an offer of $30k from a local outfitter selling turnkey Fords discounted by using some recycled equipment (something Carbon can't do), the answer is really obvious. Even though the Carbon is far more advanced than what you can do with a Ford (especially a Vic), ultimately many of the features (360 degree surveillance, embedded ALPR and FLIR, remote start, the dumbass ugly lights that you can't see in direct sunlight) really get ignored when it comes down to budgeting - 5 cars are better than 1.
That, and the vehicle design kind of degraded, not having been updated really since the original prototype 5 years ago. I remember hearing about them back in '06 and thinking "wow, this will be a big hit" but indulgent design eventually caught up with them on the build cost and MSRP, which caused the DOE to deny the unjustifiable loan.
Incidentally, it actually performs worse than all of the 3 major players on the market today.
