glorious gaben comes to save the day
The "game" shouldn't be here in the first place, there shouldn't have been anything to save to begin with.
I never bought into The War Z since I couldn't find anything about Hammerpoint Interactive, the developer. Now it seems Hammerpoint is apparently based in Russia. I don't want to be offensive to our Russian users, but apparently the Russian software industry is full of scams and companies that neglect their products while taking the money and disappearing. This whole debacle wouldn't have happened if gamers had done their homework.
The "game" shouldn't be here in the first place, there shouldn't have been anything to save to begin with.
It was there because War Inc: battlezone- a free to play game made by the same company- is already in. Given the fact that the first of their games is decent (read as: finished and working, still horrible tho) Valve trusted them with their second title too. I mean, 'what could possibly go wrong?'

You can ignore all the stuff about the developer and what not. But about game itself, I mean c'mon a cash shop in a zombie survival game?
I hope this starts some sort of internal effort in Valve to prevent any future crapware on Steam. Of all the app stores of any OS or ecosystem, Steam is the best. Not even Apple's Appstore, known for being better than Google Play's, doesn't suffer from shovelware, bloatware, etc Knowing Valve they don't announce changes in their practices (or ever announce or clarify how they operate) so we likely won't be informed of any such efforts.
warz can't stop ripping off can they
They should put a big sign on the home page saying you can get refunds to piss off the devs even more
They re-uploaded to steam and updated the store page

Plus the guy on the bottom right is, you know, a girl IRL. And the IRL photo on the bottom right isn't even connected to anything, lazy watchdogs
And the IRL photo on the bottom right isn't even connected to anything, lazy watchdogs
It's the second zombie to the left, drawn mirrored.
The "game" shouldn't be here in the first place, there shouldn't have been anything to save to begin with.
call me nuts but I find it comforting to know that not only do Valve tend to make good decisions but when they make bad ones they identify and fix it in a very timely manner with as little hassle to the consumer as possible

Good riddance.
You ask me, both Valve and the guys who made this game fucked up. Royally. As in no amount of sugar coating can mask the fact that this was one of the biggest fuckups anyone in the industry has done within the past few years. But see, here's the key difference between these two companies - Valve realizes that this was a major fuckup, and has not only pulled the plug on the game's sales, but is also offering full refunds, something they absolutely never do otherwise (except when required by law). Meanwhile, the actual devs are blaming the customers for everything. I'm surprised the company hasn't resorted to just calling us all entitled. My vote is we remove all the money these guys may have left from their profit margin, and hand it over to someone responsible (Valve, a civil court, me, there are a few candidates here). If anyone asks for a refund, said responsible person would have to give that money to Valve so Valve could give the money to that customer (so just giving it all to Valve anyway would be the easiest approach here).
He didn't actually make it. He made the engine and licensed it to the dev though.
In some forum, he mentioned created the engine as a "base" for the devs, but the devs did little to modify it.
They probably just shopped them a little each - they're so close though that it's unlikely it was a coincidence.
Looking on the warz forums, that was actually something brought up a long time ago. They were modified slightly, but used from those pictures.
I don't get why people are mad at Valve They made a mistake and now 2 days later they're fixing it. Seriously, what's the big deal here? GRR I AM INCONVENIENCED FOR 2 DAYS CURSE YOU VALVE
Certain other video game companies would have probably taken the game down but not offer refunds at all.
Valve should make a survival game instead of anyone else please don't say what you're going say ffs
Valve should make a survival game instead of anyone else
On the Source engine?
Valve should make a survival game instead of anyone else please don't say what you're going say ffs
If they did it, it would be interesting Only thing really limiting that is map size
Valve should make a survival game instead of anyone else please don't say what you're going say ffs
i don't know what the second line is referring to so forgive me if i wind up saying it anyway but isn't there a Sourcemod along those lines somewhere already
If they did it, it would be interesting Only thing really limiting that is map size
Maybe on Source 2 (which they're working on), probably moved away from the limiting maps of the BSP architecture and into more flexible stuff like what CryEngine and the UDK allow.
i don't know what the second line is referring to so forgive me if i wind up saying it anyway but isn't there a Sourcemod along those lines somewhere already
something about l4d ~ohoho but plopozo theyve already tried and failed HAR HAR~
something about l4d ~ohoho but plopozo theyve already tried and failed HAR HAR~
i forgot that had a "survival" mode
