X-rays and microwaves can cause damage to the body in excess amounts. That doesn't mean it's not useful. After all, you are bombarded by natural radiation all the time and don't feel any adverse effects.

Microwaves can't harm you beyond heating you up, x-rays of course can be very dangerous. People lump "radiation" into one big thing to get terrified of and it's really stupid.
Hmm, if it's killing off the sweat glands, it has to be having an effect on surrounding cells too. I wouldn't rule out a cancer risk increase from the use of this thing
Also, the more you sweat the cooler you get. As the sweat evaporates, it takes away heat from your body. If your armpits aren't sweating, your back is going to sweat more from the increased heat
MICROWAVES DON'T CAUSE CANCER
Wouldn't eliminating armpit sweat result in massive amounts of friction and cause a thousand times more skin conditions than sweat ever will?

It doesn't completely eliminate it, though.

Even with 80% gone, I can imagine that would eventually cause some problems. Perhaps even at old age.

oh god chafing armpits
But no seriously the skin between your fingers and as well as your thighs (if they're fat enough to rub together) as well as your groin area don't really need the extra lubrication, so why would your armpits?
Fun fact: fresh sweat from high testosterone men smells very pleasant/attractive to women, but it quickly becomes oxidized and smells fucking foul.

Microwaves are non-ionizing radiation. Thus the chances of cancer are very small.
I sweat really easily, even in cool temperatures. If I have $3000 and nothing better to spend it on, why not.

It'd be a long-shot to have $3000 dollars and nothing better to spend it on. I mean, you can do a lot with $3000.

Hiring a $1 Asian hooker to fan you with a palm leaf for a year would be cheaper.

I keep forgetting microwaves are the other end of the spectrum. You're right
[editline]18th August 2012[/editline]
There has been lots of research into it, I think microwaves were found to accelerate it rather than cause it

Okay I can't find the journal, this will have to do http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bem.2250030202/abstract

for the most part the only people who say microwaves will give you cancer are crazy mums who want cellphones and wifi banned before it MURDERS their CHILDREN

the energy of microwave photons is lower than that of visible light

buttcrack sweat
tis the worst
This isn't healthy. We sweat for a reason.
People use antiperspirants all the time, this is basically a more permanent solution. I don' think anyone is going to die of heat exhaustion due to insufficient sweating in their armpits.
buttcrack sweat

getting jock itch bad
If it is just your armpits it's fine. We have a lot of sweat glands.
Armpit sweat seems to be more about scent than heat regulation anyways. Ever notice how armpit sweat is the only sweat that gets an incredibly strong smell? Also, the air flow to the pits is incredibly poor for how much sweat is released.

Iirc Microwaves aren't ionizing so they don't pose a cancer risk.
Quick google search confirmed this, but UV is the only non ionizing radiation that causes cancer (skin).
The same thing will happen that happens to anyone who gets their sweat glands removed.
You'll sweat a shitton everywhere else, such as your face.
i once tried to shave my armpits based on the idea that a lack of hair could mean it holds less sweat
i only got like a quarter of the hair and it felt really fucking weird so I'm not sure I want to ever do that again
"OH BOY IT SURE IS HOT, LET ME JUST REMOVE THE WAY HOW I COOL DOWN BECAUSE IT FEELS BAD"
I mean come on how the fuck do you even think like this :v:.
do you guys really think the FDA would approve this if it caused people to overheat and die?
Causes cancer

Are you an American? Because if you are, you should already know how useless the FDA is.
Causes cancer
Life causes cancer.
Get over it.
Causes cancer
I wouldn't be concerned too much about the small chances of getting cancer as much as I'd be about my body overheating and passing out/dying because it can't cool down properly.
This isn't healthy. We sweat for a reason.
My first thought on reading the headline. Basically trading off sweating as an annoyance for the inability to remain in any kind of above room temp room for any period of time.
Fuck that
Will this work with ball-sweat? Fucking hate ball-sweat.
Shooting radiation at your testicles has to be literally one of the worst ideas I have ever heard.
Well hows about some deodorant that works while we're at it too? Sweaty pits are either a negated issue for someone save exercising when it's expected or deodorant will just slow down the sweat when you're doing nothing at room or cool temperature then you're soon fucked and look like a pig.
This isn't healthy. We sweat for a reason.
Armpit sweat glands are vestigial in nature. They do not serve as temperature control. They are a different form of sweat gland from the glands in the rest of the body.
