They shot over 700 surface to air missiles at US warplanes.
They managed to shoot down one nighthawk and one F-16. They didn't manage to capture either pilot.
They only even managed to shoot down the F-117 because it was raining and the old RADAR absorbing coating on the nighthawk didn't work when wet.
We were even using A-10's in the campaign. How the fuck do you miss an A-10.
They also launched a number of Mig-29's all of which either failed due to mechanical problems or were shot down by F-15's. Keeping in mind that the mig-29 was designed from the ground up to counter the F-15, this is pretty damn funny.
The nighthawk is a pitiful shadow of modern stealth tech.
In short they actually are nearly invincible vs surface to air fire.
And the soviets fired 18 at the U-2 they shot down, the number of missiles they fired to plane shoot down ratio doesn't matter when the plane you shotdown has such a high profile as a U-2 in the 1960s or a F-117 in the 1990s, also you are retarded to label a aircraft 'invisible' and parade it if a bunch of drops of waters can render it's steal null and allow it to be taken down by a 36 year old radar system
Also I am reading all the news reports from 1999 and none of them mention anything about rain, so where do you get this? meanwhile they said it was due spotters, special radar configuration and tactics, also the plane was spotted 50 KM out from the SAM Battery, not only that he fired off illumination rounds to spot the black fucker to take him down then did the usual 17 second switch-o-roo tactic they developed due to the time it takes between the plane detecting the radar and launching the missile
I'm not even sure we still have a tracked or wheeled SAM launching system outside of the avenger or linebacker. Both of which use stingers and are designed to counter helicopters.
Really?
Sure I can. Modern SAM's still use ground based targeting and stream data to the missiles.
Which doesn't work vs stealth aircraft. Much less advanced ECM systems.
But realistically the only people who have cutting edge SAM systems are also the same people with nuclear missiles. With MAD and all that jazz, a conflict just wouldn't happen.
Modern SAM's are so stupidly ineffective, that I'm not even sure we still have a tracked or wheeled SAM launching system outside of the avenger or linebacker. Both of which use stingers and are designed to counter helicopters.
Yeah, when was the last time you saw the S-300 or S-400 systems for example in actual combat to determine their effectiveness?
I could say that all ATGMs are shit due the inability of a few last gen ones to penetrate modern tank armor and the lack of resistance to passive jamming systems.
Facepunch.
When forums regarding North Korea become discussions of America's air power, and SAM launchers.
I can't watch the video. That womans voice makes me want to punch a toddler.
We should be talking about what kind of attack routes the allied forces will take. Surely one of the plan, is to flank the enemy from the west of SK, which is in the yellow river. And even amphibious landings.
But too bad we got no military experts here, so no one can confirm if I could be right or wrong.
what

I've studied international military theory, but that's strategy not tactics... i'd say that no invasion will happen anytime soon though, judging by precedent. Also, warfare just doesn't work like that anymore.
Anyway, the South seems to have made it's move- It has closed the NK-SK border (yep, people from SK could visit parts of NK before), and recommenced it's 'Psyops', or basically propoganda against the north- previous examples were sending DVDs about thed private life of Mr. Kim etc. (I didn't think they would have DVD players there but.... oh well!)

Ha finally! So, a propoganda war? And what about SK sending spec ops into NK? They were going to do that to kill Kim Jong IL but they failed.
Ha finally! So, a propoganda war? And what about SK sending spec ops into NK? They were going to do that to kill Kim Jong IL but they failed.
It's hardly something they would publicly announce.

It's not really a Propaganda war, Kim would beat them hands down if it was. The entire country is a giant cult so good luck battling indoctrination since birth. I really don't think they are sending too many Spec Ops in either, North Korea made a big deal of it when a few tourists wandered over the border so actual spies would probably garner a little more attention.
I really want NK's asses to be handed to them.

Well, they did have tourists in North Korea- the problem was they went to a place they weren't meant to. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time that NK and SK accused eachother of sending spies- only recently the lover of a SK officer turned out to be a North Korean spy.
Anyway, the South does get the occasional defector, so propoganda could encourage those with less belief in their government. And anything that could damage the North's indoctrination could be harmful for ol' Jong-Il
Even then, how are they going to take out the artillery? I'm guessing that they will be having a massive suprise bombing campaign to take out the artillery pieces
Even then, how are they going to take out the artillery? I'm guessing that they will be having a massive suprise bombing campaign to take out the artillery pieces
No, i'm guessing there will be no major combat operations.
Even then, how are they going to take out the artillery? I'm guessing that they will be having a massive suprise bombing campaign to take out the artillery pieces
The artillery pieces are built into some pretty advanced fortifications. Good luck trying to cause any real damage before the retaliation.
I really want NK's asses to be handed to them.
Also not likely to happen. Remember the Soviet Union? Everyone was figuring out how to tackle them and minimise casualties and make sure the people didn't rebel too much and prevent them from nuking anyone and all the stuff we are doing with NK now. Chances are we will be too pussy to strike first and they won't strike first knowing that they well be a crater in the ground hours after. Most likely they will colapse after their glorious leader can't feed them anymore and people don't want to kill americans when they are the ones droping care packages.
What GunFox said earlier that everyone thought was stupid would be an easy way to accelerate things to this end but it could inadvertently start the war it was trying to avoid. If we had some way of doing it without them knowing, all the better.

Really?
I always forget that the patriot missile system is technically a SAM.
This is reinforced by the fact that the military pretty much agrees and employs them almost entirely for their ability to engage ballistic missiles.
But its seems damn unlikely for them to collaspe. I think it will still be there even when we are dead
Yeah but would we have invaded Iraq if we knew we was going to lose New York?
We lost NY durring the revolutionary war.
The british took it.
And look where it got us, we have our own country now!

wut
Not the first time. The South have already ruled out military actions.
They know they'll be devastated.
I don't think the North Korean army is all that dangerous, despite being huge. They're poor as fuck.

Even muskets are still dangerous dude.

Not when you have a tank.
Not when you have a tank.
If your tank is made of a thin layer of butter they are.
If your tank is made of a thin layer of butter they are.
I'd use it as lube, hopefully the salt won't affect my penis.
If your tank is made of a thin layer of butter they are.
If you have the tech to make a tank entirely out of butter, then I imagine the guy with a musket still isn't a threat.
I don't think the North Korean army is all that dangerous, despite being huge. They're poor as fuck.
Then why does every credible military analyse say that North Korea will flatten the South's Capital city within hours if war broke out.
Of course, that isn't dangerous at all.
Realy, how many times have NC declarede ALL OUT WAR?
I do not think anything will happen.
..But if, i hope something big explodes. I like explosions

If they just decided to open up with all their artillery, sure
But what about aerial campaigns with bombs designed to specifically penetrate and hit what's inside the fortifications? We can put Magic Boom Boom Rocks within a couple meters of where ever we want to

Not before Seoul takes massive casualties. The batteries are spread out, fortified, and concealed.
