OMG IT'S SO DARK AND EDGY AND GRITTY AND REALISTIC AND ZOMBIE AND DEAD AND OH MY GOD, OH OH
Capcom just lost a huge Dead Rising fan. I've been with the series since day 1, and I will not stand for this shit. The game they're giving us is not Dead Rising.
Fucking hell, Dead Rising is one of my favorite series, I was really hyped for a new one, now I can't believe it just turned into a foul attempt at a niche market. :suicide:
Guess InFamous will replace Dead Rising 3 for me
Another franchise I liked that went down the shitter, great
It might just be me, but it really didn't look too different than DR2. Other than there being more guns and less other things. This doesn't take place in a mall, so I wouldn't expect giant moose heads everywhere.
Just like the way CoD is. More grittier and serious, not expecting much craziness but expecting more explosions and big guns.
The CoD audience is where the money is, unfortunately
The CoD audience is where the money is, unfortunately
Is that why MoH: Warfighter sold so well?
Aaaaand there goes Capcom in the ever expanding list of game companies that I hate.
The CoD audience is where the money is, unfortunately
If they had any money left. They're spending it all on caffeinated energy drinks, soda, corn chips, and Xbox Live.
It's sad that the gaming industry is to point where a majority of the games have to cater to CoD's audience in order to be successful; It's always gotta be UBERREALISTIC/Dark/Gritty/GUNS/Brown/Cinematic, and any game that tries to be colorful/fun/focuses more on the game than the story is seen as some kiddy game, or a game that won't take off because it doesn't cater to said CoD audience.
It did? Why has EA canned the franchise and shut down the IP citing poor market response?
I was being sarcastic. EA were using it to target the "CoD audience" and it bombed.
But I want to ride a unicycle through the horde while wearing a tutu and shout insults at every corpse that is gibbed underneath my wheels with no facial animations.
and use dual chainsaws with HMG's taped to them to slaughter the billions of dead in my wake
What we saw was a trailer, though. I mean in the beginning DR2 was pretty serious but it got pretty crazy a little bit after. I'm probably just being thick, what gimmicks were in the video?
The first thing you did in DR2 was kill zombies with a chainsaw motorbike on a game show. Also, the gimmick he's referring to is using smartglass to call in air strikes, even though, as a mechanic, you should have no access to such things.
How does this work
lol, tactical, you'd just need to shoot one round and that flashlight would come off. They really are fucking stupid.
It looks like it would be a good game if it was on its own but the silliness was always my favourite part of the Dead Rising series.
lol, tactical, you'd just need to shoot one round and that flashlight would come off. They really are fucking stupid.
Maybe they used so much tape that the slide can't jerk back, and it refuses to eject, instead.
[sub][sub]i like this better than the other two[/sub][/sub]
Compare with Dead Rising 1: By comparison, Nick looks like a pussy.
What the fuck is artillery doing in a Dead Rising game?
If I was there in person, I would've screamed "You what!?" at the top of my lungs as soon as he mentioned artillery. I don't even know how you can come up with something like this 'oh ill just use my smart phone and call artillery in a survival action game'! I honestly think I'm losing my mind.
Wait what? Do they call this realistic?
First Microsoft not only shoots itself in the foot but then chainsaws both feet off before cauterizing the wounds, and now Capcom further slinks into the boundaries of stupidity thinking western-style realism and attempting to appeal to the largest sales denominators of the industry is the best option they could do for their franchises overseas. I don't have some witty retort for this, this is just horrible decisions all around.
360 walker headshot low noise no lure Oh my god, they actually put an artilery strike in it...
Am I the only one thats failing to see the 'Attempting to appeal to the CoD audience' I don't see that anywhere. I see a perfectly good game. Although it doesn't continue down the look of the previous 2 I personally don't see anything bad about this game. Aside from the silly artillery strike.

Aside from the silly artillery strike.
You have to dig for it in the Gamespot article which is linked in OP's story.
Capcom Vancouver presented Dead Rising 3 behind closed doors, walking us through the demonstration that debuted during the Microsoft press conference while answering questions about the direction that they've taken. The changes that you can see in images were not a fluke. Capcom is pointedly trying to appeal to a wider audience in this latest iteration, saying it's going after the Call of Duty player. Gone is the cartoonish visual design, replaced by a more "realistic" interpretation of a viral apocalypse. That change is part of the maturation. By shifting the art style, the combat can be "more visceral" than in previous versions, with "real gore."
Taking a Gamespot writer's word for it right now but I don't see why they would lie about it.
But Capcom has tried to appeal to western audience for a while now, ever since RE4, and then things went down the shitter in RE5 and so on...
