I live in Texas; this usually wasn't a big deal and no one enforced the law anyways. I didn't even know the law existed until last year.
I live in Texas and didn't know that law existed until 30 seconds ago.
I noticed something was up when there was a huge blow-up Santa balloon in the commons.
Christmas has turned into Christians complaining about shit that is non-existent.
Have we had any of our yearly Fox News "ATHEISTS ARE TRYING TO DESTROY CHRISTMAS" reports yet
believe it or not texas public schools are an EXTREMELY anti-religious place (including Christianity)
you can't even take optional electives on religion
only dead religions are allowed to be mentioned in school
Worship Thor and Odin
Yet another religion no longer allowed in school :v:
Someday Christmas will be a holiday accepted by everyone in the world, and we'll have Geneva Conventions set in place so that everyone must obey a Christmas Truce for two weeks.
Merry Christmas everybody.
Why is is such a taboo to say that nowadays?
Its perfectly normal to say merry christmas in Australia and people do it all the time here. Why the fuck is it so taboo in America?
Too bad none of the teachers are going to say Merry Christmas to us considering we're all gonna be at home celebrating Christmas. :v:
People who seriously think that Christmas is under attack are dumb
If anything, then it's being ruined by companies using it to sell more shit instead of the original meaning of it.

Because it's not "Politically Correct". And there just so happen to be people who think they need to clense the world of anything that isn't politically correct, even if it doesn't affect them, as to protect people from getting "offended" by silly shit.

It's almost 2014 and people are still using the term "politically correct".

This is EVERY SINGLE holiday anymore.
Its perfectly normal to say merry christmas in Australia and people do it all the time here. Why the fuck is it so taboo in America?
It isn't, but people act like it is so they can act offended and claim they're being persecuted.
Have we had any of our yearly Fox News "ATHEISTS ARE TRYING TO DESTROY CHRISTMAS" reports yet
Youtube clips are making the rounds of Fox News insisting that Santa and Jesus are both white, and whining about a "Satanic" (aka ~secular~) Festivus pole being erected near a manger display in Florida.
Its perfectly normal to say merry christmas in Australia and people do it all the time here. Why the fuck is it so taboo in America?
It's not. Isolated incidents and outright fabrications are blown out of proportion because rage sells.

[Del]a woman bullshitting her husband[/del] Love and togetherness
I was so surprised to see this retarded shit start up in Minnesota two years ago. For as long as I can remember, the usual thing to say was "Happy holidays and merry Christmas!" That shit was said so often it blurred into this incomprehensible phrase that became background noise. If, for whatever reason, somebody said "Happy holocaust and merry Hitler!" nobody would notice because it was just some noise people said when they were leaving for the 15th time because this is Minnesota and our goodbyes need to last for two hours.
:l
Christmas has never been about religion in my house, its just been about family, no angels on the tree. Though we do sing Religious Christmas songs, but only because they're traditional and sound nice, we don't sing them because they're religious.
I'm from Texas, this was mostly because teachers in public schools (or people in other public positions) were afraid of getting called out if they said "Merry Christmas". I think another part of the law also makes it legal to display religious symbols in schools on holidays, as long as there's a fair representation of different ones. Like someone else from Texas said - Texas is very careful not to mention religion in schools at all.

What counts as a dead religion? Religions that have never been present in specific country?
Merry Festivus everyone
What counts as a dead religion? Religions that have never been present in specific country?
Mythologies I would assume. Religions that are pretty much unanimously considered to be no longer valid and only hipsters claim to believe.

Well, it's not like the beliefs of most 'dead' religions are any more preposterous than those of 'alive' ones.
Its perfectly normal to say merry christmas in Australia and people do it all the time here. Why the fuck is it so taboo in America?
It's not taboo as it is, "respect other people's religions" its going away now, but most people say "Happy Holidays!" along with "Merry Christmas!"
Merry Christmas everybody.

It's not. Tea party crackpots who think everybody's out to get them have this idea in their minds that it is though.
If you ever want a real taste of American culture, don't get it from our conservatives because, unlike the rest of the civilized world, our conservatives are reactionary, overly-nationalistic fundamentalist whackjobs.
