Goddam it, it's expensive as hell thanks to exchange rate
Judging by the screenshots on the store page and the trailers above, are they just straight re-releases sans DLC?
They've at the least updated resolutions, and mua2 was never on PC in the first place Someone's saying that mua1 is definitely touched up [editline]26th July 2016[/editline] Mua2 does have the DLC though so that's nice [editline]26th July 2016[/editline] Someone on Reddit claims the DLC achievements are on the list
I find it weird that DLC isn't included in the first one since the Xbox 360 digital version, when it was relisted on the store, does have all the DLC included.
Actually it wasn't relisted as together, it was an included but separate SKU "content pack", and that might be where the licensing issue is, if it still stands.
Actually it wasn't relisted as together, it was an included but separate SKU "content pack", and that might be where the licensing issue is, if it still stands.
Certain characters that were DLC in MUA1 had numerous rights issues at the time, the big one being Hulk. [editline]26th July 2016[/editline] So perhaps due to certain deals in place related to MUA1 in particular, theres some things needing ironing out for this rerelease.
If this is a venom/xmen thing I will certainly flip a fucking table. The textures are higher res and it supports up to 4096x2160, but the lighting is pretty similar.
Why do people keep mentioning prototype? Does Disney own it or something? Think about the super good Star Wars ones they've done, it's more relevant
It's because lately Activision have done some shitty *remasters* ports of last gen games and not only asked for more money equal to the price on release but suffering from numerous bugs/fps decreases during play.
So far from watching a few streams here's some answers to FAQs: - The game is in 1080p and plays at 60 fps - You can play online and couch co-op - DLC is not included for the first game but is for the second (No idea why; probably some legal hoops involving rights to characters considering just how many cross platform DLC characters were around). - This means the following 8 characters aren't in*: Cyclops, Hawkeye, Hulk, Nightcrawler, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Sabretooth, and Venom. - Characters exclusive to consoles are in. For example, Moon Knight can now be played on PC. *Characters named here are MUA1 DLC, characters that appear in MUA 2 named here are still be available in MUA2
https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/4uppb1/marvel_ultimate_alliance_1_2_available_now_on/d5s6ur2?context=3
I don't think you realize how COMPLETELY FUCKING AMAZING these game are.
This is a total shill. That is objectively too expensive for games so old and for the principle of not supporting sleezy cheap money-wells for businesses like Activision.
lol, liking MUA "total shill" You realize these are classics with huge marvel rosters that have been missing PC versions and available DLC for years since release? [editline]26th July 2016[/editline] This shits been actively begged for and discussed since the game existed Not to even mention Marvel Heroes 2016, a somewhat similar F2P game that gets way more than $60 expensive if you wanna have characters
This is a total shill. That is objectively too expensive for games so old and for the principle of not supporting sleezy cheap money-wells for businesses like Activision.
The only shill here is you, and this your usual butt hurt at anything that doesn't fit your fetishized view of how "gaming" is. No one is making you buy the game, and now that's it's on steam the women's studies major ramen noodle and 5c cracker crowd simply has to wait for the inevitable sale. The character art and environment art is literally new so are the shaders; it is not an "upscaled retro" five second hack job in cs6. Secondly, there's nothing like this one the market anymore that isn't p2w, and that includes Gauntlet. Thirdly to have the same roster on MH2016 would cost you over 200 bucks for half the amount of gameplay. Vapid ignorance.
The only other game i can think of that plays like X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance is Justice League: Heroes. The specific formula it uses is fucking rare but super fucking good.
Apparently these games are extremely terrible ports. Riddled with bugs and other issues. Don't buy until they've fixed them.
Yeah so far the main issues being brought up are: Options menu shows inaccurate resolution (640x480 is shown when using 1080 etc) easily broken if you try to change res from the menu Audio not playing sometimes Controller mapping wonky and can't be changed ingame I've also heard about a collision bug but haven't seen it that much or what it specifically does Other than all this I hear it runs at high FPS and at HD resolutions, so it shouldn't be too hard for them to patch up, if they try. There's also the matter of the first games DLC. Mua2 has all the platform exclusives and all DLC on all platforms but not mua1. Xbox One launch isn't till Thursday so hopefully they're working on the bugs. [editline]27th July 2016[/editline] PC gamer had an article saying it's not nearly as bad as arkham knight but it still needs polish http://www.pcgamer.com/the-marvel-ultimate-alliance-pc-ports-are-overpriced-and-undercooked/ They also report some of the known issues in detail
Why did they re-port a game already on PC.
Why did they re-port a game already on PC.
I was about to ask that, I guess if it's a remaster it's semi OK but the reviews on Steam are quite negative and the price is "too damn much". price is not too much for hardcore fans I guess
Why did they re-port a game already on PC.
Because this is a remaster, not a ps2 port. New UI, New shaders, new SETS of textures (diffuse, normal, specular), new lighting model, new animation syncing to deal with 60-144 frame physics interactions, rendering options up to 8K@60hz. The legit reasons not to buy the game are the lack of the golden DLC, and the input bugs, which include: separate and distinct issues for the ps and ms controllers. (Ps/bluetooth causes fullscreen to become windowed mode through voodoo fucking magic, the 360/1 controllers cannot parse B and A in the character menu but are fine everywhere else) The sound bugs are the usual creative bullshit, game sound works fine on both Xonar and RealTek up to 192K, creative anything over 22K apparently causes distortion and motherboard fires, and unless ZD have a magic firmware fix or a more compatible codec through OpenAL that one's not going to go away cause Creative doesn't give a flying fuck about their customer base, and the only reason they still exist because of idiot AiB manfacturers refusing to pay for Xonar or realtek chips for the same price point. The "collision" bug is the same issue with physics you seen in dumbasses who jack up their laptop res/settings to something their duct tape and bailing wire APU cannot handle, and lo and behold "the game doesn't work right". The minimum framerate is 24, period, you go below that and the game isn't going to work right no matter what you do, that's been a thing since the Alchemy engine was first debuted, and actually has nothing to do with this particular version, the same issue was around in X-men Legends.
So basically the game is fine, it just needs some patches for some bugs that werent ironed out and the DLC character shenanigans to get sorted away? Cause gameplay ive seen of both looks totally fine. I dont get why people are losing their shit other than the price tag.

Would it not have been simpler to just release the original PC port of MUA for like ten dollars and then spend more time and money on a good remaster and retooling of MUA 2? I sometimes wonder who's really making the decisions in these companies and why they don't look at more successful re-releases and ports rather than doing a poor attempt that has been shown not to work. Then again.... Activision...
are both games buggy?
are both games buggy?
Oh yes. MUA 2 has serious sound issues and there's issues with controls in that game as well IIRC. I'd stay away from both and try to find them on console if you're really interested in playing them.
40 bucks for games that are 10 and 7 years old respectively? Yeah, screw that. I'll check the price when Steam has a sale.
won't go very low activision doesn't usually put things any lower than 20 bucks, and that's for some pretty old games.
The only shill here is you
HUH?? "Dude, it's a really expensive game, I don't know if I agree with this price-point." "You just don't know how good of a game this is! I made no judgements about the game, just commented on the price which I think is too high so please take the whole narrative about me vs video games and leave it out of your replies to my posts! CoD4 and WaW are still $20 and only $10 on-sale. If there are license keys out there through physical boxes or those buy-in-store cards then you might see some cheap prices in the key reseller area.

$60 for untouched games from 10 and 7 years ago. That's quite expensive, it's not so irrational to think this way. And calling someone a shill is not "meaningless", it literally means "an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others" and that is literally like what that post was. Did you know what shill meant prior to this reply?
I can't defend buying these games honestly with the mess they're in for those prices. They're glitchy, they have features that don't work, and they're not good ports. I'd suggest just hunting down the physical copies for console.
