Looks like he's suffering from constipation.
Where's Rico Rodriguez when you need him.
Everything about it is awful. Not only is it in the middle of an area where Mao's policies caused many deaths, it's also really shite looking. At least tear it down and build another one, it looks like he's got anencephaly.
looks like he taking a shit
Soon birds will take a shit in it though
Does anyone know if Chinese people actually know what Mao did? Are they ignorant of the truth because of the propaganda or do they love him in spite of it?

Most of them know about it, they even learn it in school from what I've been told but they view it differently. They think the genocide was more or less unavoidable and that Mao himself only tried to establish his dominance among the other politicians which wasn't unusual around that time in China. To us it might sound wrong and even evil but when you are brought up around people who love Mao and are constantly told about all the great things he did for China it must be hard not to view him as a great man.
Also, you have to remember that Mao indirectly killed most people. We view it as him being responsible of the famine (I do too) but even though Mao wanted farmers to get rid of their crops and start producing steel or whatever it was primarily the indoctrinated people who enforced his ideas and I suspect that a lot of citizens puts much more of the blame on themselves than we do.
Statue's been destroyed... that didn't take long

Don't be ignorant. They know much well what he did, and they still respect Mao.

Stalin indirectly killed millions too but people acknowledge him as a monster, the USSR had no love for him after he died. From his infamous purges to his misappropriation of resources that caused famines, to his insistence on just throwing more manpower at any problem, people died at alarming rates whenever Stalin committed to something
That was quick

They don't teach Chinese students about their actual history, the schools there serve to reinforce the notion that the communist party is glorious, to talk about the failures and how they were caused by the Communists would be admitting that they don't serve the peoples interests. Look they started doing that shit to Hong Kong and the people got fucking pissed when the textbooks glossed over all the bad
It looked terrible, NK's statue looked 10 times better, but when will Germany erect a 40 meter Hitler statue?

No, I mean they all got access to Internet, and despite the heavy censorship there's a large number of citizens that bypasses the firewall and browse whatever they want. There's also trading of "forbidden books" (I got busted when I tried to bring them into China btw ). And big things like the Great Famine and Tiananmen are things that I doubt will ever be forgotten. There was an interesting video that I saw. A filmmaker went around asking people about the Tiananmen massacre. All of them knew what happened, none of them dared to give an answer.

So I think it's not that they are completely oblivious to what's going on, but often they don't dare to talk about these taboo issues.
